If I could rate zero stars, I would. I was so excited to try Newk's again, which was one of my favorites before celiac diagnosis and instead just walked out in tears. The staff was not well versed in allergens, made no suggestions and no offers of help. The allergen menu only lists a couple of salads as GF, several of which don't even appear to be on the menu anymore. Even my gluten eating family was treated poorly- my son needed a fork and asked where he could find one and was rudely told he needed to go ask someone else. Then I made the mistake of looking up. OMG. The ceiling in the dining room is covered in mold. Some of it growing hair, hanging down directly over tables. Gigi welcomed me with a smile and an attitude of respect and appreciation. She helped me make final selections for my meal; and I enjoyed Newk's favorite salad for its variety of flavorful ingredients. Greens were fresh and crisp with just the right amount of dressing. I would have preferred freshly grilled chicken, but the taste and texture of the sliced chicken served was acceptable. My mealtime was late Tuesday afternoon so there were few other customers. I was the first guest of the day shortly after they opened. When I pulled into the parking lot there was an employee outside the employee entrance in a plume of heavy Vape - great first impression! Upon entering, several employees were milling around and no one said a word to me; I wasn't even sure if I could dine in the restaurant because no one said anything. After a couple minutes of looking at their currently limited menu options I walked up to the counter and placed an order. I ordered the Ultimate salad with honey mustard dressing. Wish I would've ordered the dressing on the side because they tossed it in themselves and tossed it in heavy. Overall, the salad was good, but too thick with dressing. Understandably, there were no self-service items like condiments, beverages, silverware etc. For my being the first guest of the day you would have thought that the tables would be clean - they weren't. I took a window seat and the table was covered with crumbs which had to be from the night before. So much for cleaning tables, not to mention disinfecting them! We came up here to avoid hurricane Milton, were so encouraged to see how close Newks is to our motel. We ordered 3 french dip sandwiches. They were done very fast, but the meat was not sliced thinly like a french dip ALWAYS is, and was SO full of gristle we could hardly bite through the meat. Never been here before today (May 17, 2018 about 5:30pm). Wife and I were in town for the evening and staying at Country Inn and Suites across the road so we decided to eat here. We didn't feel like going out so we utilized their easy online ordering process. You just go online, order your food and walk in and its sitting on a shelf all bagged up with napkins and utensils and ready to go. I ordered the Ultimate salad: $9.29 670 Cal Grilled chicken breast, bacon, smoked ham, oven-roasted turkey, mixed greens, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, cheddar cheese and croutons. Served with honey mustard dressing on the side. Dressing adds - 400 cal It's a HUGE salad, so if you want to share there's plenty. I eat a lot and could only eat about half so I have more for later. It's a delicious salad and the ingredients are extremely fresh. My wife had the Pulled Pork & Roasted Corn Chowder, Loaded Potato, Tomato Basil, and Pepperjack Crawfish soup bowl. She had a small bowl which is about $4, but she really enjoyed it. They forgot to add the soup but Shiniqua the manager added it on for free. What a professional and friendly person she is, and apparently a very good manager as all of her employees were cheerful, polite and professional, and you could tell they all liked their jobs. Prices are really good considering the amount of food you get. I wish they had these in Atlanta, we would eat there all the time. Recently came here for a salad and was disgusted with the extremely rotten pieces of lettuce that I was served. Additionally, the service is severely lacking. I was given a spoon to eat my salad with...and when I asked for a fork the girl looked at me as if I had just murdered her mother. Apparently you cannot order a half premium salad as indicated on the menu. I was told by the on duty lead/manager that they only do half soup or sandwiches, and only full salads in premium; therefore,cannot order a premium salad. Ugh... I ordered DoorDash tonight and got a straw but no sweet tea.. I ordered the pick 2 with the tomato soup. It was awesome. The salad... the salad by itself was great but they sent the WRONG dressing .. I could not really do anything about it so I ate it... it didn't go over well at all. Bad management!! A 6 foot sign upon entering was touting French dip au jus! Yum!! We ordered and sat waiting. My pizza came out. My soup came out. Server brought a roast beef plain sandwich out. We started we ordered the special, french dip. She let us know they didnt have jus or sauce for sandwich. We asked them multiple questions while we were ordering and they completely ignored us. The 2 girls at the front were very rude and obviously need a lesson in customer service. This location can never get your order made correctly!! I keep going back expecting a different outcome but they always fail and get my order wrong! Many times does this happen using online ordering where exactly what I want is spelled out on the green receipt. What sucks is that I actually love newks and can't even enjoy it in my town because they're too incompetent to make orders correct. Went to Newk's for the first time last week to buy a gift card, when I went in I saw that they had 'grab and go' sandwiches. Since it was close to lunch I grabbed a couple and a bowl of potato soup. Great food like always. Clean and large place. But we set outside and I was out to bring my dog to the patio when Manager come out and told me they didn't allow dogs. I love this place because of my two most favorite soups. The potatoe soup and broccoli and cheddar soup here is simply AMAZING. It is a bit pricey and last time I ordered the bread was not as toasted as the first time I ate here for the mock opening they had. The place is vibrant and very nice. It is always clean, just a great atmosphere. Only bad part is finding a place to park, I've came quite a few times and left because of no parking. Get the Italian sandwich. Layered with meats and soaked in oil and vinegar - it's so good I may never try anything else on the menu.
