I have been going to Newk's sporadically for about 4 years. I really enjoy the food and atmosphere. It's kind of classy, but not really expensive. I went today because I had a coupon for a free meal for my birthday. I presented my coupon to the lady behind the counter. It was on my phone and she had to ask the manager if they could take it. The manager said I really needed to print it off, but she would accept it. I thought that was very nice of her. I ordered my usual Newk's Q, it is what I order 99% of the time. If you have never had it, do yourself a favor and try it. I also ordered the coleslaw with it. The sandwich wasn't as hot as usual, still acceptable though. The coleslaw was very dry though. I normally order the soup, but they didn't have the black bean today. I wouldn't recommend the coleslaw, but would definitely recommend the Newk's Q and their soup. The food is good and the service is reasonably fast. The seating is cramped (bad layout). My main dis-satisfaction with Newk's was when I tried to order an item that had been a monthly special, that was no longer offered. The manager was rude and tried to bully me. What a joke! What a great place! Came here for lunch twice during our stay in Murfreesboro; 2nd time with 6 hungry teenage girls and 7 adults. Menu was broad enough to cover all of our tastes. Restaurant was very clean and staff was very courteous. Highly recommend for lunch! read more

Went here my first time with a friend and loved the atmosphere. Really awesome to go in a sandwich shop and have the option to get wine and a beer as well as various sides with a sandwich besides just chips. Their pasta salad is awesome. I got the club sandwich and pasta salad, which was incredible. Went back today and got the club again (I know, boring) and they now have newer sides, including a macaroni and cheese. I didn't know they had it because it just started today so I got the exact same thing, but I have to say with all of the sides and cakes they have, it's pretty darn awesome. They have salads, all sorts of things you can order, and a salad fixing station in the middle where you can add stuff. Never had a bad meal at Newks! Visited again mid afternoon Saturday after Black Friday! As always the staff were very friendly. My wife loves the pizza and I normally get a salad but this time I ordered the chicken chili. My selection was a great choice for a cool afternoon. It was delicious and hot. I also talked my wife into sharing her pizza and it was great as always. The restaurant is always very clean and the staff are eager to make sure you have a good dining experience. This small chain has gained quite a following from the Murfreesboro lunch crowd. Great food, fair pricing, and quick service. I love the half sandwhich and soup combo. Prefer the shrimp po-boy and lobster bisque. On the warm weekends and evenings Newk's patio is a great place to stop and get a beer or wine while shopping at The Avenue. Very good dinner spot if you're looking for a great sandwich, soup or pizza. Normally when I go, being the creature of habit that I am, I order the Grilled Steak Sandwich (which is excellent), but tonight I decided to venture out of my comfort zone a bit and try the Pesto Chicken Sandwich. Wow! I may have found my new favorite sandwich. The chicken was grilled to perfection and was moist without making the bread soggy, the pesto just made the whole sandwich explode with flavor, and the goat cheese on the sandwich added just the right amount of tangy creaminess to round things out. My wife had the same sandwich, and my 7-year old really liked the kids' cheese pizza. We'll definitely be coming back! read more

Newk's is pretty overrated. It's okay. Menu choices are more interesting than say a Panera, but it doesn't match the consistency or flavor of Panera, which shouldn't be that terribly high of a standard. Portions are too small for what you pay. The Newk's Q tastes pretty good, but the presentation is poor and there's not enough meat on the sandwich. Broccoli cheese soup is middling. I actually think their various mac & cheeses are pretty dang good, best stuff on the menu, but stingy portions again. Will sadly shuffle over to Panera instead when someone wants this kind of food. read more

I have eaten at this Newks and a few others and overall I have been pleased. The Newks Q Sandwich is really good. Tonight was a different story. Most of it has to do with being more specific on the menu and or education-training team members about spicy items. I ordered a salad and ask specifically if the honey mustard dressing was homemade. The young man said yes but never mentioned how spicy it was. It was so spicy I only ate half of it even after adding a milder dressing to it. I should have taken it back after tasting how spicy it was so thats on me. Its on them to tell customers an item is spicy. My mom had the same issue with her seafood type soup. read more

I love sandwiches, and have been wanting to try more of the menu but simply cannot bring my self stray from the chicken salad sandwich. It's phenomenal, with purple onion and spicy brown mustard on crusty bread. I later found out you could buy large tubs of the chicken salad itself, which was a game changer. Seating is often difficult to find as we usually go during peak hours. We usually place to go orders for this reason. The few times we did dine in, we found ourselves in extremely close quarters with our neighboring tables. read more

TL:DR - overpriced and poor quality This will probably be the one, and only, time I will ever get food from here. The pasta in the mac & cheese was overcooked and mushy. The lettuce in my salad was old and brown, and I found a bone in the chicken in my salad. I got my order as take out and the portions were extremely small. To have paid about $20, I would have assumed I would've gotten more than 1/2 a cup of mac & cheese and a salad that is comparable to something I can get at a fast food place. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because it didn't give me food poisoning. read more

We love Newks and get takeout at least twice a month from this location. Tuesday's is our favorite since they have tomato basil, which is very good. We were disappointed this evening when we opened our soup to find lobster & crab bisque. The receipt was correct.. Unfortunately, we live too far to drive back just for soup. Pretty much killed the yummy dinner vibe. Glad we don't have any seafood allergies! *** 1/12/17 Update!! Picked it up again this evening and, lo and behold, it happened again! This time it was creamy potato in lieu of tomato basil.. Do they not train these idiots? I know, I should have checked my order before leaving, but come on, why should I have to... It's a cup of soup! First time, shame on them.. Second time, shame on me. Doubt I will have this problem as I do not intend to give them any more of my money.. I'm pretty in love with this place. I'm a regular at this specific location. I have a usual as well. The chicken sandwich with potato soup. I have yet to receive a not so tasty meal, or not so friendly service. I'd recommend this place for a quite night out. It's very relaxing. My boyfriend love to mix up and try something new each time. The main reason I go to Newk's is to enjoy their shaded outdoor seating on a pretty day. I have never been wowed by any of the menu items, but the food is acceptable. I like the concept of their flavor combos better than the execution of them. The salads are gigantic. My kids don't like the food at Newk's, so I'm more likely to go to Newk's with a friend or co-workers rather than with my family even though it's a family friendly place. read more

I love their food!!!!! The Italian sub is second only to my husbands version of it. The soup is always hot and flavorful, no salt or pepper needed. I do wish they had better coffee. I work nearby here, so when everyone was getting lunch here every day, I knew I had to check it out. The menu is mostly soups and sandwiches with some variations. We ordered the Tomato Lobster Bisque, Macaroni and Cheese, and the Club sandwich. The soup was amazing, but the sandwich seemed small. The staff is cheerful and friendly. This restaurant is a favorite of my family. If you are looking for a good bowl of soup on a cold day, this is the place for you. My 9 year old son and I have tried several varieties and have never been disappointed. Crab bisque is a favorite of both of us, with a mildly spicy flavor. But honestly, even the mushroom soup is better than I expected, with large pieces of mushroom and a hearty base. The salads are fresh and crisp. My younger son loves the kids pizza. It is really good pizza, fit for anyone, not dumbed down in the expectation that children refuse to eat truly decent food.
