I love this place for lunch. 1/2 sandwich, cup of soup or salad combo is the way to go. If you order a full size salad, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the size of the salad and quality of the greens. Condiment table offers sriracha as well as complimentary breadsticks and pickles. I was super excited to visit a new business that had opened just this month. This place is at the corner of Parker and Parkwood which is always buzzing. Order at the counter and get a number. You get served at your table. This is an excellent place for a family who wants to dine in a casual place and might need something different for everyone - pizzas, salads, sandwiches, soups. Its a casual hangout with lots of friendly staff. Two of the managers also visited our table and asked our opinions and suggestions. Everything tasted very fresh. I specially loved that the chicken in my Newk's salad was sliced thin instead of sliced in chunks. The thin slices soaked up all the flavor of the dressing and it was super tasty. The deluxe pizza was so appealing with bubbly cheese and loaded with meat and veggies. The pizza base was light and fresh. Might sound silly but I felt the height and distance of the table from the couch in the booth was perfect. The management is excellent and you can tell by the friendly service that you receive from everyone there. The food is fantastic and everything I have had makes me want to come back. Horrible food. We ordered the chicken pesto pizza and it was by far the worst pizza I have ever had in my life. It was very dry, hardly any sauce, the chicken was like jerky and hard. The frozen pizza in grocery stores are better. We also ordered the steak sandwich that was terrible. There was hardly any meat in the sandwich, it was mostly cheese and sauce with a tiny bit of meat! Worst salad I've ever had! Blue cheese dressing tasted like watered down mayonnaise. Ordered it without pecans and it came riddled with them! Every bite had at least 4. The steak came in one small balled up mess of junk that had no flavor and was so tough I had to spit it out. Sent it back for the Caesar salad and that too was a let down. DO NOT EAT THE CAKE. Just don't. (If you like lemons and basil, the lemon basil dressing is fantastic!) Newk's has really tasty sandwiches and salads, you would be hard pressed to anything tastier.. my problem is with those cakes. They are absolutely horrible. They are dry, very dry, cornbread texture dry. ALL OF THEM. I don't even like strawberry and caramel cake but I tried both flavors just to see if it was just the chocolate cake.. but no.. it is all the flavors. I have had these cakes in two different locations so it obviously something in the way they are prepared or stored, not sure which. Mac and cheese....I fell in love with this place once I discovered their Mac and cheese. It seems plano has a shortage so I was thrilled when this place sprouted up. It's not the only thing on the menu and pretty much everything is delicious. The service is great despite them always being jam packed. Tried Newk's for the first time today. Me and my family got a couple of sandwiches and split a small pizza just to try it. The sandwich I had was "The Royal". It's a very good sandwich. The freshness is what stood out to me. It wasn't the best sandwich I ever had, but it was certainly worth the money. Not very expensive at six dollars and change for the size and quality you get. The standout however, was the deluxe pizza. The crust on that was especially delicious. The ingredients were fresh, and a great touch is that the pizza had whole kalamata olives on it, instead of sliced. It was a burst of saltiness that took the pizza to the next level. The pizza was really great and what we'll be coming back for. They serve seafood on the pizza, but I didn't try it. (It's a little pricey, as adding shrimp or salmon to the pizza costs an additional $6.50 a piece. I mean, that was the cost of my entire sandwich.) Still, I'm going to try it in the future. All in all, it was good. I would still recommend the sandwiches at Which Wich over these, but the Pizza is really, really great. read more

I've only been here once, but I would definitely like to come back! I'm not sure exactly what I ordered but it was some kind of chicken or turkey sandwich with cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo/honey mustard. I remember the sandwich was really really good, and the bread was fantastic! I could've just eaten the bread alone! It comes with a side and I just got a bag of chips, but I do like how they offer quite a few options. It was kind of a rushed ordering process so I didn't get anything else, but I remember the desserts looked really good. I saw a bunch of people with salads and those looked great as well. read more

We've been eating at Newk's for a few years now. The serve deliciously fresh food that is not fast food, it's restaurant style fresh made yumminess. I walked in the other day with my family and ordered a vegan sandwich. It came on 11 grain wheat, heavy on the rye, bread with a pile of perfectly grilled veggies. Squash, zucchini, portabella mushrooms, caramelized onions, sliced tomatoes, fresh spinach, olives and my choice of dressing. They suggest Gouda cheese and house-made basil mayo. I got creole mustard. Wow! This sandwich was so good! I also helped myself to the free stuff available in the center of the restaurant. Italian peppers for a pop of freshness and bread and butter pickles. Who knew a veggie sandwich could taste so good. Also, the portabella mushrooms were large and plentiful. Thanks for making my night. I just want to say that everything we've had over the years is so well done, no skimping on ingredients and excellent chef skills in the kitchen. Try Newk's, you won't be disappointed. Easily the BEST bread I've had outside of NOLA!! The chicken club is perfection. Don't confuse this place with other bland run of the mill chains like corner bakery or panera....Newks does it their own way, and it works! Richmond Rd. (Lexington) location..... Dec. 19, 2019. My wife and I visited this location near lunchtime. I ordered the roast beef sandwich and my wife had a pasta salad and Mediterranean veggie sandwich. My roast beef was impossible to bite through (tough/stringy) and I found that it was difficult to cut the meat even with a knife. My wife had even worse problems as she broke a tooth on something in her sandwich. We jointly decided not to make an issue while in the restaurant, but we will not be returning. read more

Last night, my bf and I went to Newk's to grab an easy dinner. He ordered the royal sandwich with a side of black eyed peas, and I ordered the regular Mac and cheese with a side of fruit. He was caught off guard by the black eyed peas because they were served as a chilled bean salad rather than the typical warm black eyed peas. I went in for a bowl of soup and piece of bread to go. It took almost 15 minutes for them to spoon the soup in the bowl. There were several people behind the counter refilling the serving containers and talking. After my bowl of soup was ready, the server remembered the bread and I had to wait another three minutes for them to toast it. One of the workers who was refilling the large soup containers had a long pony tail and it kept falling and hanging over the food. She would flip it back with her hand and go back to working with refilling the containers. I watched that happen at least 8-10 times while I was sitting there waiting for my soup. Not good, had better sandwiches at Subway, my husband had the Italian sandwich, and while eating it pulled a long slender piece of plastic wrap out of his mouth and another after a couple more bites, finally I told someone and the manager came over and looked at it, then told my husband that there was another one hanging out of his sandwich, then proceeded to laugh and say sorry about that they must have left the plastic wrap on the salami, and just walked away, needless to say we will not be going back again..as I also may add this happened at a brand new Neweks, way down near Austin. read more

I have been going to Newks in Plano Texas since they opened. I have always had a great experience until the last two times that I have been there. The manager Knox is very rude. I called in a to go order a couple of weeks ago and when I arrived to pick up the order he treated me like I was lying about calling in the order. Today when I arrived to order a kids meal for my daughter that came to work with me because she was sick he treated me again like I was lying. I had my work badge on and so he automatically assumed that the order was for me. Knox said that I couldn't order a kids meal at first. I told him it was for my child and he still was hesitant. Then when the meal was ready I asked him for the kids cup and he said again I can only give you a kids cup if it is for a kid. It really made me feel like a criminal robbing a kids meal. I have never been treated like that before. It's sad when you get better treatment from McDonalds. For the price that they charge it would be in Knox best interest to treat people like people instead in criminals if he wants to get any business from people that have children. Maybe Knox should go to school to become a lawyer. He sure would make a great one. read more

Went to Newk's after church and it was busy without being crowded (which is great). We have two infants and two toddlers and it was very kid friendly. I got "out Whataburgered" on my ordering. I orded the Steak Standwich and it was marginal. Other ordered gumbo (which looked great), chicken salad sandwhich (which looked good), and the Italian Sandwhich (which I'll order next time). This was a great place to get a meal to take home. I stopped in for my first visit last week. The website gave me a chance to check out my options so that when I went inside I had an idea about what to order. I was greeted quickly and asked a few questions about the menu, receiving helpful answers. I went with a salad which I took home. It had more than enough to get two meals out of it. We've seen this place since we moved to Plano in 2014 but never checked it out plus you don't ever see an ad anywhere. Went last night and i'm bummed we haven't gone here before. Had a great Chicken Salad sandwich on a tasty multi grain roll (about 12 inches i'd guess) and some lobster bisque soup.The wife had a small margherita pizza. Lemme just tell ya....this place has got it down!!! Great white meat chicken salad and other than there was no noticeable chunks of lobster the soup was really tasty. The wife is an East Coaster and knows her pizza...she gave it a 7 outa 10, not bad because she's picky. Prepared Iced Tea with Equal???? Really??? No one does that, but i'm glad they do. We love Newks! I almost always get a half pimento cheese sandwich with their tomato bisque - so so good. I also really enjoy their chicken salad sandwich. I love that they give you big plastic cups to take home with you and if you're feeling indulgent try a chocolate peanut butter crispy - it's what it sounds like - a peanut butter rice cripsy treat with chocolate on the top. So dangerous! The restaurant is pretty spacious and the staff is always really friendly. read more
