My husband and I have been here a number of times, and tended to choose to eat the same things, as we thoroughly enjoyed them. I usually chose a five cheese pizza, which has pesto on. I had been very ill, and finally felt like eating something other than toast and bland things, so he went to Newks and picked up a pizza. The very first bite, I almost broke a tooth! There was a pebble in it (had to fish it out of my mouth. Whether it came from the basil in the pesto, or what I don't know, and frankly don't care. That was it. My husband and I were in the area for an oil change today and decided to visit again, and again, they did not disappoint! I repeated my Half & Half combo with the Turkey Avocado sandwich, but opted this time for the Mississippi Black Eyed Pea Soup. It had a fantastic flavor to it, reminiscent of my favorite classic New Year tradition, with a pleasant kick of spice to it. Though I know this restaurant has spread to many different areas (I'm not surprised!) it'll always be a cypress staple. The kids pepperoni pizza is downright dirty it's so good. As well as the newks favorite salad!! One of my favorite salads of all time. I love their bread on all of their sandwiches- super soft yet crispy. My favorite sandwich is the chicken pesto. There are many ways to order and they do a great job of being ready for pickup in a short amount of time. Newks seems like a nice place to get a bite, and the food certainly didn't taste bad! I'm just a little disappointed in the serving sizes and the price. We ordered the Soup and Sandwich combo, for $8. The bowl of soup was half full, and there was a tiny 4 inch chicken sandwich (if you could even see the chicken on the sandwich) on the side. No drink included, no sides. I ordered the Margherita pizza (~$6.50) which was good sized, tasted good. But Margherita pizzas come with tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella cheese. Mine came with cheddar cheese, 1 slice of tomato for each pizza slice, and NO basil. Disappointing, because Margherita pizzas are normally delicious! Overall, not a bad place. Looks nice, staff not so friendly or helpful (though it seems it depends on the staff member: wait staff is nice, but watch out for the girl on the register!), but it's definitely not worth what they're charging... I love the grilled cheese here a lot. I got a grilled cheese and I decided to get fruit with it. When I ordered it the fruit ended up being $5 extra and they gave me a 12oz. I didn't ask for a 12oz I just wanted a side of fruit that CAME WITH the food. I asked why I was upcharched and just said something random that I didn't understand and I just smiled and walked away. I've never thought about writing a review for Newks but I come to this place almost every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Because of the lobster crab bisque. But the Newks Q is where it's at. My food here is always amazing, and the service is great. The prices are high for a college student but its completely worth it. Sounds strange but, on Sundays... Newks IS my hangover cure. I'm from Dallas, and we don't have Newks around there. So every time my family visits that's what they want. It may be a bit of a challenge to find the entrance to the parking lot. But I've usually been able to find a parking place Ok. Restroom-wise, they have at least 2 stalls, & there's even a sink outside of the restrooms (in the foyer). That's also where the nearest trash can from the front door. The staff has always been friendly & helpful for me. I like the menu as well, it's comparable to the menu at Jason's Deli. There's a variety of vegetarian-friendly options, all marked on the menu with a green "V". I've had some veggie sandwich & a margherita pizza before. The pizzas are good, but the day I had the pizza they were out of the adult crust-sizes & had to use a child's crust. First time trying Newks and I still don't know what to think. I ordered online so it could be faster service and when I got there it was ready but the cashiers were a bit confused on what my order was when all they had to do was ask my name. I ordered the spicy shrimp pizza minus a few of the toppings because I really just had a craving for shrimp on a pizza crust. We ordered through Yelp for delivery to our hotel. It took a little while to get the order, but we weren't in a hurry. We had a few things - tried the tomato basil soup, Caesar salad, turkey avocado sandwich, mac and cheese, and the kid's pepperoni pizza. Overall, everything was so good! I was especially impressed with the soup, salad, and sandwich. The mac and cheese was... different. My husband loves mac and cheese, and he didn't really like this version. I just returned from being on a trip to Bossier City, La where I ate at Newks and loved the atmosphere and the food! Their salads were piled high and so fresh and delicious!! I wanted to see if Newks in Tyler, Texas was as good as the location in Bossier City, La. I ordered the Triple Take Salad just like I did in Louisiana and it was a disappointment today. It was mainly limp romaine and hardly any pasta salad in my bowl. The location in La also had sweetened Green Tea and this location didn't. The pickles on the bar were delicious though. This place is fast casual. Pay, sit, eat. (Great! I hate dealing with tips.) Everything I've had is good. My favorite is the Newk's club sandwich. My last experience here wasn't great, but I talked to a manager and he quickly and perfectly remedied the situation. The lemon cake is outstanding. Management needs to re-train their employees on customer service and being personable as well as common hygiene standards! 1) Get your thumb out of my salad bowl! Especially if you aren't wearing gloves! Good food and I think it is very reasonably priced. Not fast food prices, but I wouldn't expect that. It's fast casual, so the service reflects that. My pulled BBQ chicken salad was excellent although it could have used a tad more chicken. We got a sandwich that was very tasty.
