After testing many mattresses at traditional mattress stores (Ortho, Sit & Sleep, Macy's, etc.); I discovered Newport Bedding. Since I weigh about 350 lbs and since I am a side sleeper, none of the other mattresses I had tried really supported me comfortably (my lower back was in pain after a few minutes on each.) Once I tried the Tuscan mattress at Newport Bedding I was sold (no lower back pain.) Furthermore these mattresses are built locally and they use organic materials such as (bamboo- which helps keep you cool while you sleep); another bonus is no funny chemical smells. The salesman Scott was very knowledgable and helpful, and after trying a few mattresses, I settled on the Tuscan (which came out to about $2,600 after frame, tax and mattress protector.) Considering the fact this is a custom built mattress, this is a real steal of a price. The salesman at Macy's informed me that my body type required an athletic bed, and Macy's offers the cheapest athletic bed available at around a cool $10,000. Walking away with an even more comfortable mattress for one-quarter of what I would have paid at Macy's has left my wallet as happy as I am. One more thing, the mattress is double-sided so you may use either side. The potential drawback here is that you occasionally need to flip you mattress to maintain even wearing on the springs (this is really only a drawback for those with limited physical strength and no easy access to someone who can help rotate the mattress.) The plus here is that if one side of the mattress becomes damaged, just use the other side ((no need to throw the mattress away)). I've noticed some increased energy in the morning since using this mattress. My advice is to do as I did, go to other mattress stores and then stop by Newport Bedding. Then you will experience the difference for yourself, I'm confident you'll find the right bed for you here. read more

Exceptional service, exceptional product, exceptional business. From the minute Dana answered the phone, I felt comfortable. As a salesman, he was friendly, polite, available and informative. He explained to me that Newport Bedding was a family owned business, locally owned and operated, and in Orange County since 1978. I like this because family owned businesses usually have more invested, care more, and value their customers. Navigating the world of mattresses is insane. ConsumersReports says it is one of the most important purchases we make and one of the most difficult. It is important because we spend hours sleeping, the construction of the mattress can harm our back, neck, shoulders, spine, etc. and if we are not refreshed on waking, the whole next day is miserable. It is a difficult purchase because mattresses and pieces of them are constructed all over the world, rebundled, labeled by various names and it is almost impossible to know what is inside. For these reasons, I chose a local business with a strong reputation, quality service, and personal attention. I have a lot of allergies and I did not want stinky chemicals from China that would be next to my skin and that I would be breathing for 8 hours everyday. I need firm back support. So, I described to Dana what I needed and he gave me several options in all price ranges. There was no aggressive sales pitch or pressure to buy a "new" model. Rather, attention to my needs and price range. I opted for a locally built custom model, double sided mattress. They built and shipped and set it up within a week. They also took away my old bed. Newport Bedding was friendly, helpful, and prompt. Not only am I sleeping well with good back support but I have the peace of mind knowing that all the materials and labor were from the U.S. And, my dollars went back to support friends and neighbors in my local economy. read more

Bob and I want to THANK Tom, Gloria, and Dave at Newport Bedding!!! This was our second purchase from them. Our first was a custom-made king size mattress for an antique bed that was in our family. Tom, the owner, came to our house to get the measurements and then showed us the mattress choices. That first mattress lasted 25 years and was still in good shape, but it was time to 'graduate' to a CAL King. We did our due diligence and checked other stores, but returned to Newport Bedding. Ok. As Thanksgiving approaches, one of the things we are most thankful for this year is Newport Bedding. We have had one of their custom mattresses a little over a month and it is fabulous. My husband and I no longer have those morning aches and pains. We found Newport Bedding through Yelp. I wanted to find a place that could educate us about all of the new bedding options. We were shopping to replace a mattress from 1989!! Did we get an education!Dave was so helpful and patient with us. He really explained all of the newer choices with no sales pressure. Although we still haven't settled our mattress misunderstanding so far it's been Outstanding service. I had to order (reluctantly) a bed long distance for my son moving to Huntington Beach from Colorado and beds are like jeans you probably need to try on for fit! Knowing this they offered free delivery for our son and a full refund or exchanged if didn't like it!! They had it all set up up and ready when our son got to his new home exhausted from driving in blizzards for 2 days! Not only that, the color of sheets i requested weren't in stock so they overnighted them and drove 30 minutes to our sons new apartment building to make sure he had his bedding upon his arrival to move in there! I could not be more happy with Newport Bedding! My wife and I went there a few weeks ago, after going to a few other places in our search for the best bed for our situation. My wife has a back injury in her upper neck, and has to sleep inclined. I have to sleep on my side, and have hip pain. We had already decided that we needed a Split Cal-King with adjustable base (each side independently tilts). Steve was our salesman, and he knows his beds. He also is the greatest guy, you'll want to go hang out with him! They have all bed types, so it was not like the other places that push the one they sell or specialize in. We selected the Sealy iComfort mattress with all the bells and whistles. Everyone involved was great, as we asked for, and did receive some special arrangements. Two months ago my husband and I agreed it was time for us to buy a new bed. Went with my grandma on saturday for their senior citizen special offer for adjustable mattress in Newport Bedding Costa Mesa. Found them on Google. I called and the person that picked up was very friendly and let me know that they are still opened and to come on down with my grandma. We arrived and the staff welcomed us with a friendly smile. These guys are great! i bought my last bed from them 18 years ago and didn't even think about going someplace else for my new bed. These guys here are friendly and knowledgeable. You'll feel right at home as you walk in the door. They insist you try out the bed to make sure it's perfect before you buy. Which can take some time with the hugh selection they have at the store.
