Just about everyone in my life has heard some version of the following review, because I honestly can't say enough good things about this company. For context, my partner and I put over 40 hours of research and visiting mattress stores into this mattress decision. There were initially a lot of contenders. And in the end, there was only one we felt confident about - Custom Comfort Mattress. My family and I have been customers of theirs for over 20 years and I was delighted to learn just how good they are in their industry. Throughout the process, we wandered into 3 Custom Comfort stores and the customer service in each was outstanding so they're all getting this shout-out. We never felt like they were trying to make the sale - there wasn't pressure to make a decision - they just gave us the facts with pride and the mattresses sold themselves. Azita and Allen welcomed us into the Newport Beach store and put us at ease as we bounced around the mattresses 3-4 times. Super personable and ultimately took great care of us when we were ready to make our purchase. In the world of mattresses, Custom Comfort is producing a far superior product. I've owned mattresses in the past from their Select Collection (entry-level) and for this purchase, we jumped up to their Reserve Collection (premier level). We wanted a bed that was all natural materials with no memory foam, which we learned limits the lifespan of your mattress. We also wanted to avoid potentially toxic materials used to meet U.S. flammability requirements (Custom Comfort achieves this with wool). Bonus is that all of their mattresses are double-sided (flippable) which most on the market are not these days. The mattress we purchased should last us 20-30 years if we care for it well. This is the type of company that earns your trust. Not that we needed reassurance, but we asked if we could visit their factory in Orange to see how their mattresses are made [thank you Azita for helping set this visit up]. I felt like an elementary school kid on a field trip - I absolutely loved it. The warehouse manager Chewy personally guided us through all the stages of the mattress build and shared that most employees have been on the job for 10-30 years. They clearly take pride in their work and the brand. From the time we made the purchase to the time it was set up in our bedroom was 5 days. Great customer service to the end - Oscar and Omar were our courteous and on-time delivery crew and they made several adjustments to the bed height and position in the room to make sure I was completely satisfied. When my wife and I went shopping for a mattress we knew it was probably the last mattress we would buy (unless we live past 100;-) Anyway, after exhaustive research my wife visited the Custom Comfort store on PCH and instantly connected with Azita. Many visits - and me joining at some point - because at our age there are many considerations and the elevation for both back and feet are important. So many features to consider. Azita was so patient and worked through all the issues. Then the complications came - on our end. We decided to remodel our master suite so there was a 6 month delay between purchase and delivery. Throughout Azita flowed with the flow, accommodated us by having them pick up our old mattress weeks before the new mattress was delivered. We are Custom Comfort Mattress believers! Years ago our whole family bought mattresses from Custom Comfort and we will never be sleeping on any other brand of mattress. The amount of time they spend with you so that you can find the perfect mattress is really incredible. It was time for a new mattress so we went to the location in Newport Beach on PCH since it is the closest to us. Mike McAteer welcomed us in to the beautifully clean store. At the time of this writing, the state is just beginning to open up due to COVID-19 and Mike was wearing a mask while maintaining social distancing. They also had a table with hand sanitizer set up and gave you a brand new pillow case for you to test out the mattresses with. The fact that Custom Comfort and Mike were taking these important safety measures during this time really lets you know that they care about your well being. Mike's warmth and excitement about their product offerings is contagious. He knew exactly when to come in and answer our questions and when to let us just take the time to try the mattresses out. We came in already knowing that we wanted a latex mattress like our previous one but Mike helped us work through all of our options and mattress/topper combinations. I honestly came in with no intention of getting an adjustable bed, but Mike let us try it out and I suddenly had to take some time to think about it. We ended up just buying some pillows, sheets, and a mattress protector on our first trip into the store. Mike was totally lovely and never used high pressure sales tactics and gave us all the information we needed to go home and make our mattress decision. A few days later we came back in, tested out our narrowed down options and purchased our lovely latex mattress, topper, and adjustable bed. Each time we came in Mike answered all of our questions, gave us the space to really test each mattress, and put up with me going back and forth! Mike really made the experience at Custom Comfort fantastic and this has been our experience with everyone that works for the company. They don't care about selling you on the most expensive bed, they just want you to have the right bed for you. The delivery came the day after we ordered and the delivery guys were fast, clean, wore masks, and very polite. Unsurprisingly, the bed has been fantastic! Again, another 5 star experience with CCM/Newport Beach. This was the fourth bed I've bought from them, and I'm so very happy. With the informative tour of the showroom with the fabulous Ms. Megan, I was able to get all my questions and concerns answered, and Megan, helped me make the right decision for my particular needs, with NO PRESSURE. She is able adept at custom service and just being someone I just really liked talking to. My new bed was delivered today, by two great, courteous, funny and most importantly ON TIME gentlemen. I rarely submit reviews, but my experience with Custom Comfort was so outstanding that I felt they deserved the recognition. (And for the record, this is not some BS phony and/or solicited review . . . I am a REAL customer who is submitting this on his own initiative . . . I am also both a shopper and a discriminating customer, especially for expensive products like mattresses that are largely a matter of personal preference.) I was initially hesitant about checking out Custom Comfort because their prices are higher than places like Macy's and Sit 'n Sleep, but they got such good reviews (both on Yelp and in the OC Register) that I decided I had nothing to lose. After spending nearly at hour looking at the various mattress options in their Newport Beach store, I was reminded of the old adage that "you get what you pay for." Their higher prices are justified not only by the superior quality of their product, but also by their outstanding customer service. The store manager, Mike McAteer, is a total pro. He spent a considerable amount of time with me over the course of my two visits there both educating me about mattresses generally and helping me pick out the one that was right for me from their extensive selection -- with no pressure whatsoever! Especially in this era of degraded customer service, my exceptional experience at Custom Comfort was a reminder that there are some purchases worth schlepping to a physical store for (and yes, also paying a bit more for). Before you purchase a mattress anywhere else, go see Mike . . . even if you don't buy there, you will come away with an appreciation of the best product on the market and a "mattress education" that you won't get anywhere else. read more

I fell in love with my new bed not only for the extreme comfort, but for aesthetics, however it turned out it wasn't exactly the right fit, so I needed to select something different (side note: I am working through some medical things and it is dire that I have a comfortable bed which helps me therapeutically). Custom Comfort came to the rescue - they were here for me. First let me just say my latex mattress is AMAZING! I just ended up exchanging the box style (feet) that I initially bought for a sturdy metal frame that would be more accommodating for my needs at this time. Nate handled all of this for me with care & compassion. He called when he said he was going to call, showed up on time, was warm & friendly and very accommodating! Our family moved to the OC in 2001, and we must have bought at least 8 Custom Comfort mattresses (from the Orange location) over the years. Always happy with the quality and the value. In 2020, in the middle of Covid lockdown, my husband and I made an anniversary date to the Newport location and gifted ourselves a new mattress. Both the mattress and the shopping experience were so comfortable! We appreciated that we could actually try out the mattress we were getting, and it was just us and Mike in the store with masks on, which was comfortable for us in those freaky times. Later we went back for the same bed again for our guest room, which everyone always loves. So of course when my parents up in LA needed a new bed, I took them to Custom Comfort Newport Beach. They are in their 90's, and Mike was so nice, explaining all the options clearly and so patient when they laid down on every mattress like a million times. Their super-comfy Cal King mattress was delivered the next week. Unfortunately, they only slept on it 2 weeks. Then my dad had a stroke and they needed to move...and my mom's new apartment next to the nursing home only fit a queen. I went to Mike, and Mike went to work. He spoke to the owners and was able to offer us a substantial discount on the new bed, and made it happen that it was delivered on move-in day. It has now been a month, and my mom sleeps soundly every night--despite the difficulty of my dad's situation--on her queen-sized Custom Comfort bed. What more can I say? Custom Comfort is the best company that I have dealt with in my life; and yes, I am older than 20 (add a little more than 40 to that). Shivani, now managing the Newport store, was at the West Hollywood store when I purchased my mattress there. She was very thorough in explaining to me the difference between Custom Comfort's mattresses and the present mass-produced foam mattresses. I sleep hot and needed a mattresses that breathed. I wasted a good deal of money - and time - a year and a half ago on a foam filled mattress from another store. I learned the hard way that I needed a spring mattress with cotton and possibly wool, with NO FOAM. I searched online and viewed a video on the construction of Custom Comfort mattresses and decided some day I would get one. I finally got tired of having to wake up every night at 3 a.m. due to heat, going out to the living room to cool down for an hour then try to get back to sleep. I heard on the radio of a special sale at Custom Comfort and went into the West Hollywood store. Shivani served me and made it possible for me to get the firm, foam-free mattress that I had literally envisioned. She also was very kind to make certain that I got the right foundation/box spring for my and my wife's needs. It is so good to sleep on a mattress that doesn't store up heat, is firm and allows me to wake up refreshed. This company truly makes the customer is king. The delivery men are also top quality people; polite and respectful. They spoke highly of their company, which is a sign that the core of the business is managed by good, decent people. I have been doing research on what stores have the best quality beds in California. After several months of searching and reading. I was skeptical that I would come across the perfect store that would help me find the best mattress Ever. This place is like "build a bear store" but it's build your own mattress. It's insane on how much knowledge I felt after speaking to a young lady named shivani Kumar. This employee assisted me to find the mattress of my dreams. That young lady costumer skills are amazing. She didn't tell me what I wanted to hear she let me choose what I wanted and what was best for my sleeping comfort needs. she guided me to all the options I couldn't imagine exist. She really helped me build the perfect bed. The procedure was relaxing and straight to the point. The delivery process was just as she explained. This is a Well rounded professional team that ensures quality and comfort. I would definitely recommend this place if your looking to get the best sleep of your life. My wife has a sensory "foot shaking problem " at night and this would always wake me up. Not anymore I can't feel when she moves anymore.
