What a great experience with the chowder truck! They came to a private event and showed what really great food and service looks like. Brinkley and Juliana were so easy going, friendly and accommodating. This is their second year at this party and they made sure everyone got what they ordered in a short time span. Best chowder I have tasted in a while. One of the best lobster rolls in the area as well. They really emphasize on the quality of the lobster meat so its very very light on the mayo. While my personal preference is a little heavier on the mayo like the one served in 2nd beach twin lobster roll this one is still amazing. The texture and the butter on the bread is spot on for what's needed for a great lobster roll. My friend who is a self proclaimed lobster roll expert (no joke he had 5 lobster rolls in one day during our trip) said the lobster roll here is something special. I was pleasantly surprised for a combo that the lobster roll was still the full size, I really enjoyed the roll, the meat was tender and rolls were buttery (however, I would recommend paying the $2 extra for a warm roll as I tried a bite of that and preferred it). A bit surprised that the seafood chowder isn't classic New England clam chowder. The seafood chowder was creamy, but it wasn't outstanding. The lobster roll on the other hand was very delicious! Their seafood chowder is Award Winning. The seafood chowder features shrimp, scallops and cod with their secret blend of spices. This was delicious and there were huge portions of seafood. Came to Newport for a family trip and found this place. I wouldn't call it a shack but it's not a restaurant. It's more of a grab and go. There is some outdoor seating but very little. I ordered a CT style lobster roll. It tasted really good. Bread could've been a tad better. I didn't get the chowder because it was so hot out. The person behind the register was really nice. What a find! After seeing an ad for a food event at "Hope and Main" I was SOO glad I attended. On this day I was able to hire all my food caterers on that day.
