A local recommended this spot to me, calling it their favorite place in town--and after trying it, I completely understand why. The fries were incredible: perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and loaded with toppings without getting soggy. I ordered mine with blue cheese, chicken, and buffalo sauce, and it was honestly one of the best loaded fries dishes I've ever had. The staff was very friendly, and the customers--both locals and visitors--were welcoming as well. The only downside is that the restaurant is very narrow and small. If you're with a group larger than 2-3 people, you likely won't find seating and may have to get your order to go. I was grabbing mine to go anyway, so it wasn't a big issue, but it would've been nice to have the option to sit. Regardless, it was absolutely worth the walk and worth stepping inside. Was really excited to try the waffle fries here as many reviews pointed us here. Usually waffle fries are fluffy and have a good crunch on the outside, but these ones were rough. I went here on Friday night for a quick bite before a cocktail event. I got the alleycat and the fries were nice and crispy and the Mayo sauce was really good. Choosing a flavor and sauces on the side is a fun concept. My biggest critique is the fries could've used more toppings (there wasn't much cheese) and they come in a container that isn't the easiest to eat out of. Really unique take on french fries. I was in search of a full meal before walking in, and so I was a bit worried that all they would have are snackable fries. Great news - it's a full meal. They add full-meal dishes into a chinese-food carton full of fries. Very tasty and a ton of different options. after eating sweets for breakfast, my friends and i needed a salty afternoon snack while walking in downtown prov. the fries flavors are so creative and fun. took us a min to decide on what to get since it was a snack for us, not a meal. we also decided to share two containers and i'm glad we decided on that because portions are generous. the total for our two containers was about $20 which is higher for fries but understandable given its downtown and the portions are generous. we got cajun and we got the parm/garlic/evoo option. they put shreds of parm and straight up minced garlic in there, i scooped up the heartburn on the bottom of the container for a lasting taste in my mouth and no regrets. servers were helpful and conversational. we sat inside even tho we said we were gonna walk around because we saw how hard it was gonna be to eat slowly. it smelled so good. i would love to see a shoestring fry option for potato size because i like the crisp of thinner fries. i also would love to see a little container by the register where you can submit flavor ideas for fun. and lastly i think each fry order should auto come with one sauce on the side and the extra is added fee. glad we got to try this on a cold prov winter day. read more

One of my favorite foods, when we travel to Canada, is poutine. So when I heard about all of the delicious dressed fries options at Friskie Fries, I knew that we had to give them a try. They also make some tasty looking "shake downs" (milk shakes) that would make the experience complete. The building is a very interesting narrow design, made just big enough for a Friskie Fries restaurant. When we walked in we placed our order for their original "friskie fries", either their signature beef chili and cheese, and an order of "disco dottie", traditional poutine. Tried this place on impulse...cute shop front downtown. There's not much seating (only like 3 spots in the restaurant and a handful of outdoor seating). I got the sweet potato fries which were okay...a little over fried (almost burnt), but they did come out piping hot. My friends got onion rings and the poutine. Their verdict was the fries were good, but dishes were extremely heavy (very cheesy/saucy). None of us were able to finish the meal, as if felt too dense. The guy working the counter was really friendly, but told me that the fries are frozen, and they just add the toppings. For a place that only serves fries, I found this a bit disappointing...I would have liked it if they actually made their own fries. I am obsessed! I'd been meaning to try Friskie Fries for a super long time, since way back when they were just a truck and not in this prime downtown location. What's not to love about fresh hot french fries? I tend to stick with the "rubbed"/seasoned fries (~$6.50 after tax). The cajun fries are the BEST! The fries with mojito lime seasoning are also good for something different. The "dressed" fries ($9-10), with more intense combinations of toppings, also look incredible. I don't know if I would try the two dessert fries options, but to each their own! Friskie Fries might seem kind of expensive for fries, but let me assure you that the portions are HUGE and more than hearty enough for a full meal. Finally got to try Friskie Fries. I have been to Montreal many times, and I am not a big fan of poutine because i don't like too much gravy on the fries, making them soggy. So I was glad to find many options at Friskie Fries to choose from. Four of us went and we tried 3 items. Dusted fries with Cajun - Crisp, hot, well seasoned, a nice burst of spice with every bite. Road Kill - Bits of wieners and meat sauce with onion, mustard and celery salt. This was vey nice, the sauce was not overwhelming, so the fries underneath did not become soggy. Great taste, lots of nice pieces of meat to savor. Alley Cat - Fresh garlic, olive oil and parmesan cheese over crispy hot fries...A nice and light option. It was also right near our hotel which was very convenient. When my family and I arrived the atmosphere within the restaurants as very welcoming and matched the vibe that this part of Providence has.
