We had the Salmon and the Steak Frites and both were cooked perfectly and delicious! Kids had the cheese pizza which was also thoroughly enjoyed! What a treat for the kids meals to also have a hummus/carrot appetizer, side of green beans, and a scoop of gelato to finish off their meals! Our server Alyssa was so wonderful and attentive! What a fabulous dining experience! It all began with manager Ariel helping me with an existing reservation. She went above & beyond with a few phone calls and for that all of our group is grateful. It was a pleasure walking into this airy and energetic restaurant. We were in for a treat as soon as Tori B. greeted us with a great attitude and extensive knowledge of the menu at Celeste. Tori did an excellent job caring for our family as we celebrated a few special occasions this particular night. They did not rush us and allowed us to visit while also providing us exceptional service. Such a true professional in the world of hospitality. The bread service of delicious focaccia was a treat right off the bat. We thoroughly enjoyed the calamari fritto misto with artichoke hearts, pepperoncini, fried lemons, and caper aioli. The spicy whipped feta is a unique preparation with the olive relish, and we raved over the house-made warm pita. Truly some of the best starters the four of us have enjoyed in a long while. It appears Celeste is well known for their pizzas and after consuming the fig & prosciutto pizza we know why. Unctuous blending of flavors with Great Hill blue cheese and so much more. We left room to continue sharing amazing food - the roasted Moroccan chicken and the grilled halibut. Both mains sported their own unique flavors. The Moroccan chicken has a perfect blending of couscous, raisins & cashews with roasted broccolini. The grilled halibut was so perfectly prepared that I dream of ever being able to grill my own back home to such a perfect consistency. We are at a conference looking for something different for dinner that we haven't tried (this our 4th year in a row for this conference side note-we love the east coast). We went on a Thursday evening and street parking was easy to find. Service was great! Here is what we had: 1. Drinks: EASY TIGER- coconut rum, overproof rum, horchata, amontillado, sherry, lime, aromatic bitters. BLOOD, SWEAT, & ROSEMARY (mocktail)- blood orange, lemon, rosemary, soda water. My boyfriend had the easy tiger and found it more tropical tasting than horchata but still liked it. I had the mocktail, which was great! Refreshing drink. Just nice they offer mocktails and tasty ones too! 2. Raw bar: gotta have oysters while in the east coast right? They were from Jamestown and of course yummy. They had a mignonette which was good but since the oysters were so good not needed but a yummy addition option 3. Shared plates/appetizers: CHARRED OCTOPUS- Castlevetrano olive & cannellini bean, frisee, shaved red onion, piri piri, EVOO. This was one of my favorite appetizers. We try octopus everywhere and have had lots of overcooked ones. This was not that! It was soft, buttery and easy to cut and not rubbery. The tail was crispy and yummy. The char was perfect and flavor was on point. PAN ROASTED SUNCHOKES- herbed ricotta, hazelnut, chervil, Calabrian compound butter. What a tasty spin on the sunchokes. I love sunchokes and appreciate a great presentation and different ways to have it. 3. Entrees/Mains: BRANDT FARM 14 OZ RIBEYE- crispy potatoes, onion jam, bravas sauce, haricot vert. My least favorite dish of the night but doesn't mean I have love everything. I still appreciate a really good restaurant and concept. I know this is not a streak house so I understand not being the best steak. It was a bit of a tough steak, but the cooking temp (medium rare) was made to perfection and flavor was simple but perfect (I love love a simple steak without all the extras). The sauce was my least favorite of the dish and could definitely do without. The potatoes and veggies were good except it was somewhat less tasty with the sauce. We made our own surf and turf and had their special for the day. HALIBUT- not sure what was all in for the specifics but this was a winner. The fish was charred yet the moisture was preserved and tasty! Loved the flavoring and sauce. All mixed harmoniously. Dessert: BASQUE CHEESECAKE-fresh whipped cream, brown butter salted caramel, strawberry. We had a hard time deciding between the pistachio tiramisu and the cheesecake. I'm sure both are tasty. I like my cheesecakes more simple and asked for this without whipped cream and strawberry. The consistency of the cheesecake was great! Taste was point on. Although I don't care for caramel with it I tried the caramel and mmmmmm. Cheesecake was a great way to end. Overall fantastic experience. Our waitress was lovely. Staff was wonderful. I am sold ... while the atmosphere wasn't my favourite, the food here is as good as any restaurant in Rhode Island I've eaten in. The menu here seems very Spain and Italy centered ... maybe more so Spanish. I was thrilled to find Potatoes Bravas on the menu ... as a frequent traveler to Spain, this is one of my favourite simple dishes. This might be among my favourite versions that I've tasted, which is saying a lot! We also had the Bouilliabase ... quite a heavy dish loaded with octopus, muscles, clams, shrimp and a small piece of cod. The only complaint I've have about this is that it was an absolute salt beast ... both in taste and the fact I could not drink enough water after having this. Overall, I am not sure I'd order it again but am glad I tried it and two people could easily share this. The salad with salmon was fantastic ... a nice, thick piece of salmon cooked perfectly and the salad was also fantastic ... dressed well and very flavourful. We would order this again for sure. We also had the pizza, which was alright but we'd probably stick more towards the entrees and less towards the pizza when we come back. The basque cheesecake for dessert was tasty but way too small a piece for $12. When in San Sebastian, traditional basque cheesecake was much different tasting and a bigger portion. The wait staff and front of house was amazing. I don't think I've had a better waitress anywhere. Great with suggestions and not overbearing while being helpful. The only knock about this place is the lighting is way too bright. There isn't much atmosphere for romance ... the lights would be perfect if they were 25 - 30% dimmer. Other than that, it's very clean and fresh feeling. There is a gas fireplace, a big bar and two rooms ... one of which faces an open concept kitchen. Both are too bright ... but the room in the front with the booths would be my choice if I had to pick. Overall, this is our favourite of the Newport Restaurant Group restaurants from a food perspective. They can be hit or miss but this place is worth coming back to. Sure, Coast Guard House is right next door with water views ... but it can't come close to matching the food quality and menu variety here. I can see why it's so highly rated. read more

As soon as I spotted Celeste at #2 on Yelp's 25 Best New Restaurants of 2025 list, I immediate booked a table for our trip to Rhode Island. After dining there, I can see why it ranked so highly. From the ambiance to the service to the cuisine itself, I can't come up with a single reasonable complaint. (NB: "the portions were too generous" is not a viable gripe.) It seems that Halloween qualifies as the off season for the Newport area; I was quite surprised that I had no issues booking a five-top a week out from our dinner. I can only imagine that seats are a little tougher to come by during peak tourism times. Especially since the secret's clearly out on this spot. In general, I'm a fan of open kitchens, and Celeste's puts their back-of-house on full display. The constant hustle of chef activity offers a satisfying dinner-and-a-show experience, and I quite enjoyed observing the practiced, expert craftsmanship of a team that clearly knows what they're doing over a stove. Shoutout to our server, Sophia, who was perpetually prompt and helpful. Throughout our meal, empty dishes vanished within moments. We never lacked for iced water or fresh libations. Although the restaurant doesn't offer mayo as a condiment, she helpfully proferred either garlic or spicy aioli (more on this later), which is more than a-okay by me. Each and every dish we sampled was delightful. Standouts for me included the tender calamari (with fried lemons, artichoke, and pepperoncini!), whipped feta with the fluffiest pita, and the briny clam spaghetti (which I merely sampled, because a friend ordered it as her main). Celeste appears to offer seafood-forward fare (par for the course in the region) and seasonal produce (squash-heavy at this time of year). As I noted earlier, portions are generous, especially at this price point. I fully expected our bill to come out to 1.5x what it did. Coming back around to the note about aioli above... protip to amp up the vaunted lobster roll: request a side of the garlic aioli and slather that shit all over your sandwich. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this dish served as-is, but I promise you'll make your life even better by dipping your fries, roll, and maybe your face in that sauce. read more

We recently dined out on the patio at Celeste and we had a wonderful experience. The host was very friendly and welcoming. The server was very good at explaining the meal options and the ambiance was just wonderful. I got the salmon and my husband got the Romesco Cod. Both were done very well. I asked for my salmon to be cooked with no added salt and that was just the right thing to do for me, it was just slightly seasoned and the veggies were excellent. We went there for a bridal shower in one of their provide outdoor/indoor space and it was such a great set up. Theres an outside bar, the inside is very spacious and has a great layout. I loved the way they decorated as well. The staff were amazing! They were super nice and attentive. And the food was delicious. We were served multiple types of appetizers first. I also ordered a hot latte and it was so rich and delicious. Had a wonderful meal today at Celeste. The space is so warm, inviting and comfortable. We were immediately greeted and seated even though we were early for our reservation. Our waiter Tom was great. He took great care of us without being intrusive. We started with the house made focaccia and bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer; both were absolutely incredible ! Stopped in +_ 6:00 while "Troll" hunting in RI. FOOD: Seemed like a little bit of everything. Started with the Calamari and turns out there wasn't much Calamari in the dish. Way too much of the other things mentioned in the description, not recommended if Calamari is what you are looking for. My son and wife tried their pizzas and really enjoyed them. I tried the Pasta Genovese, and while it looked great on the plate, their seemed to be something "off" about the taste? my wife agreed as well. Perhaps too much of the Grana Padana cheese? Besides that... the wine selection was very good. SERVICE: Even with no reservation, we sat within 5 minutes. Friendly wait staff, our server (Ki) was polite and attentive. Its my least favorite restaurant in the Newport Restaurant Group. I had high hopes. We were patrons of the previous restaurant that was in the same space. Im not exactly sure what the entire rebrand was all about. Besides the brighter interior and a new name menu seemed really similar to what Trio had offered before. We checked in without much issue and were seated promptly. Alyssa was out server and she was very nice. We ordered a few apps and entrees. Appetizer was potato brava and tuna crudo. Potato Brava was my favorite. The sauce was nice and the potatoes were perfectly cooked. The tuna crudo was okay. Maybe a tad bit salty due to the capers. After the appetizer it started to fall apart. There was a delay. Maybe about 40-45 minutes for our main entrees to be served. We had a bottle of wine so we were just chilling but the manager came to apologize for the delay and offered to give us dessert and coffee for the table for the wait. That was a nice gesture. While the wait wasn't terrible it was nice that they jumped ahead of the problem. But this gesture will ultimately lead to a 2 star ding. More on that later. Our entrees came few moments later. I ordered the burger which was okay. Kids had the margerita pizza and the pasta al forno. No real complaints from me or the kids. My wife had a real problem with her dish. She ordered the Paella and her rice came out partially cooked. It was a bit crunchy actually. I initially was going to stop her from ordering it because I had a similar incident with another Newport Restaurant Group restaurant that executed another rice dish extremely poorly but I decided to let her be the master of her own destiny. Should have stopped her because Celeste has no idea on what Paella is supposed to be. If they want an example of Paella done right they dont have to go far. Just head on over to Spain of Narragansett and they will have a perfect example. My wife pondered whether to bring this up and because the dish was borderline inedible she brought it to our servers attention. She promptly brought it back to the kitchen to have ot rectified. When she brought it back the dish was much warmer but it did nothing to alleviate the crunchy rice. She did get the dish to be taken off the check. So we ordered two desserts which ended up being the best part of the meal. The chocolate tort and the strawberry donuts. When we got the check they never ended up comping the dessert for the main course being late. They did remove the charge for the inedible Paella. They should not offer and make empty promises that they will not follow up on. I would have maybe dinged 1 star or not even a star as the food came about 40-45 minute mark. But they get dinged 2 stars for making an attempt to make things right, making a promise but not following through on it. Maybe they thought comping an inedible main dish was enough? Im not looking for a freebie. But I do expect my dishes to be edible and promises to be upheld. Celeste was a major disappointment. And we are huge fans of Newport Restaurant Groups other restaurants like Castle Hill(Aurelia), Boat House, Bar Cino, La Vecina, and Bowens 22. Remove that Paella from the menu ASAP. The best dinner with friendly Julia as our server. We should have requested an outdoor table when we made our reservation, so we ended up at a booth. The delicious food made up for that minor disappointment . We shared four small plates and each one was perfect. I am a big fan of Newport Restaurant Group restaurants and was very excited when I saw they had opened a new restaurant with an intriguing coastal European inspired menu. Narragansett is a bit of a trek from Cranston and I usually only drive that far for the beach but I made an exception and planned a dinner here with friends. The restaurant is gorgeous and has a light a fresh look, perfect for its seaside location. Our server Erin was fantastic and knowledgeable. We started with the warm olives, shrimp sofrito, and whipped feta. All were delicious and I'd happily recommend them. I split the potato and rosemary pizza and pasta genovese. Both of these were also good! The pizza had a very unusual but tasty balance of flavors with mashed potato, preserved lemon and more. It was worth trying but not necessarily something I'd order again. I'm glad I tried it though. I'm not sure I would drive to Narragansett just to eat here but if I was already on the area or had other plans nearby I would definitely include Celeste as part of my plans! Recently had the pleasure of checking out the new patio renovations over at Celeste. They have a beautiful bar, stocked with not one but 2 bartenders. Staff was pleasant, helpful, and attentive. But the real reason we went is for the incredible food. For starters we enjoyed a few cocktails, the Jonah Crab, and the dreamiest whipped feta! It's a must try. Entrees we went with the salmon which was cooked perfectly per my request to have it medium rare. The steak bavette which was flavorful and also cooked to perfection. We ordered a kids cheese pizza with fries for my niece and this thing easily could have fed 2 adults. Big portion sizes at reasonable prices. Lovely little spot in Narragansett that used to be Trio. Nice bar and well appointed dining areas. Came here as part of the TEDxURI cast for a post show celebration. The menu was limited to three entrees as a result, but the braised beef with pasta was absolutely delicious. Like a very upscaled beef stroganoff. The chocolate tart for dessert was also spectacular, dark chocolate flavor with the most delicious raspberry sauce that made for a perfect pairing.
