I also wanted a second set of eyes to check all my work and inspect everything once in a while, so I dropped my bike off at Fairfax Cycles. The main service I requested was to replace the front fork and exchange the fork and brake oils. I bought the Ohlins fork from Partszilla and dropped it off at the shop. I was missing some other small parts needed, and they were able to order it for me. I had a budget I wanted to stick to, and they were able to work with me to meet my budget and the services I needed. They were very flexible. For the amount of work done on my bike, I'd say the price was fair. The place is very busy all year round, though. Please set your expectations. You'll likely have to wait to get serviced. You'll also need to pick up ASAP. I felt good about all the services performed on the bike. The installed Ohlins fork makes the bike so much better. Will I come back, a definite yes.

I called foul…read moreafter paying their "out the door maintenance check', only to find out the bike's fluids had not been touched in years, and the bike was filthy. When I spoke with their service department, they agreed to take care of it for me.. no apology or anything about the extra time out of my week to get to and from their shop. I should have bailed right then and there. Fast forward a few years. Nothing but issues for a bike I took excellent care of and only put a grand total of 1000 miles on. I won't get into too many details here, but they kept the bike for a little over 3 months this last spring, " trying" to resolve an issue I was having with the bike struggling to start and not running correctly when it did start. After three months I complained to the owner about the absurd bill I got after his team of " professional Triumph techs" could not figure out anything and just started throwing random parts at it. To be clear, there were 3 error codes... After 90 days they didn't even mention any of those codes! The owner did right by me in terms of having them remove most of the fees they tacked on for their bull$!#@ work. It was super irritating that I was still out a couple hundred bucks for an intake snorkel (What the actual F?) and spark plugs (which I had also just replaced one day before leaving it with them) The real final coffin nail for me was that the final call from the service guy was unacceptable and infuriating: "Given enough time, we probably could figure it out, but we just don't have time to deal with your bike right now". I have never been more angry or disappointed by a business. I essentially just threw 10K+ into a fire. I will never purchase a bike here again and I will instruct everyone I encounter to avoid them for bike purchases and especially repairs.

John was straight forward from the beginning gave me a ballpark of what I would pay and things I would need to expect and how much time it would take. Also my parking brake is old so I had it towed over night to the location because it was stuck closed and John disengaged the parking brake for me for free. Bike runs awesome went in feeling like a trash can on wheels and left riding like a new bike. I will bring my bike back for major repairs they gained a customer and I will tell anyone about them and recommend them to these guys.

The entire staff was courteous and knowledgeable, and were able to put my mind at ease for every item on my bill. They also gave me a thorough demonstration of every feature on my new bike before I rode off, even though the deal was already done. That's the kind of attention that earns repeat business. My only regret is that this shop is so far from where I live that I can't bring my bike there for service. Highly recommended.

Brought my 2005 Yamaha FZ6 in to get a ticking sound from the engine fixed. Ellicott City…read moreMotorsports identified that my tensioning chain needed to be replaced and also a gas tank wire. Paid for the work and those were fixed but the ticking sound was still there. Was told that internal engine issues would probably cost more than the bike's worth. (but still not as expensive as buying a whole new bike) They told me that doing an engine swap would be the best bet. Went through the headache of finding and buying an engine off eBay. Took it to E city motorsports and paid them to test it and found it was in need of repair as well. Fought ebay and the seller and got my money refunded. Decided to just ride my bike with the ticking sound and see how bad it was. The ticking sound eventually disappeared on it's own. The very first result I found when googling the ticking sound was that rather than a metal on metal issue, it was most likely exhaust gas escaping from a gap in the exhaust header. I had tried tightening the exhaust header bolts but the sound was still there and that is why I took the bike to professional mechanics for diagnosis. So I never actually needed an entire engine swap which means either that Ellicott City Motorsports needs more skill at diagnosing issues or that they were trying to get me to spend unnecessary money. Use this review as you will.

just found out i was charged 130 dollars to "clean" the broken turn signal switch. a whole new…read moreswitch is 53 dollars and 2 bolts to change. what an absolute scam..... also was quoted 720 flat fee for valve adjustments (which they didnt do and i had to have re-done 3 weeks later) and was charged 867 dollars for supplies and other BS. was called 4 times by someone to remove my review and called twice by the GM to "talk" but only after i threatened litigation . my cam chain tensioner went bad after 2 weeks and locked my motor up. thankfully there was no catastrophic damage . there is no way ... also was charged 182 dollars for an oil change i was told was 90. every step of the experience was terrible. almost 2 months, never changed the brake pads, said they didnt have time, but made me sign a wavier saying how terrible they were then sold them to me as i was leaving . never adjusted the valves but was charged 900 dollars, never changed the cam chain tensioner just "cleaned" it and it broke 2 weeks later leaving me stranded with a broken engine costing me 290 to be towed 2 hours. J PHILLIPS IS HANDS DOWN THE LAZIEST, WORST TECHNICIAN ALIVE. whoever runs service is a scam artist. whole company is terrible. my dad bought about 8 dirtbikes off the showroom floor when we raced growing up . never had a bad experience until about 2019. everything is about how much they can get out of you with the least service possible

Part of the reason I say this is because I know they couldn't have made a lot of money on this sale. Yet every single interaction was a pleasant surprise! When I called about the bike Mike answered all my questions in a straight forward manner. He quickly told me the out the door price, the history and condition of the KLR (even sent me a video of it) reconfirmed that it was ABS, the crash bars and racks were included, they had copies of the service records, only had 780 miles on it. He was patient during the process of me wiring MGMOTORSPORTS the payment. His communication was excellent. He also offered reasonable shipping from VA to OK or agreed to store it a couple weeks until I could pick it up. When it came time to pick it up Mike personally met me at a subway station and drove me to the shop in Sterling. The motorcycle was ready to go and his wife was great with all the paperwork ready. I watched and listened as they dealt with other customers and they were sincerely pleasant with everyone. When it was time to leave, Mike and an employee checked the fluids, tire pressure, ect, one last time in front of me. We shook hands, he had an employee lead me in a company truck out Sterling to the main road headed west so I wouldn't get lost. Every couple of days as I leisurely rode back home to Oklahoma Mike would text me to make sure everything was good and askif I had any questions.
