First of all, both Ralph and Chuck are the epitome of Porsche Ambassadors. My '84 Carrera developed a shifting issue basically, out of nowhere, with no precursory warnings. I contacted Chuck and from what I described, with respect to the symptoms, he had an educated guess, but obviously needed to see my car and evaluate the issue. I was expecting the worst and thought the transmission needed an overhaul, which is a significant job due to the fact that the requires engine removal to facilitate a transmission overhaul and logically , the clutch should be replace at the same time. All adding up to a significant effort in labor hours, parts and overall cost. As it turned out, the repair was addressed by replacing several shift linkage bushings, that were worn and were the original parts placed into the 911 from the factory. It seems that I dodged the preverbal bullet, thanks to the efforts and honestly of Ralph and Chuck. They had my interests at heart. I'm confident that had I taken my 911 to a Porsche dealership, that the diagnosis would have been the full Monte, i.e. transmission overhaul and clutch replacement...only to find out after that, that the shift linkage bushings would ultimately, need to be replaced too. Special Kudos and gratitude to Ralphs for their troubleshooting and workmanship skills and ultimately to their honesty...they go a long way in restoring maintaining faith in the realm of Porsche service. I purchased a 92 turbo with some issues. I sent it to a shop in Gaithersburg who claims to specialize in air cooled Porsche's. After three months and thousands later My car was worse off than when I bought it. I was referred to Ralph's by a friend and towed it to their facility. I have been taking my Porsche to Ralph's for over a year now. I currently live in Bethesda, but I believe there is no other service facility better for me than Ralph's. Chuck is super friendly and always willing to offer a helping hand or advice. Melodie is the same and always on the ball. The techs are masters of their craft and do precise, thorough work. Ralph is the guru sage of Porsche and he's super chill. The shop is clean with lots of cool magazines to read. I always get a response when I call or email which is very professional. One day I was waiting they treated me to lunch from Santoni's which was really nice. Whenever I go here, I make sure to bring everyone a dozen donuts because they do a great job! I've been a huge fan of Ralph's since 2012 when he performed the pre-purchase inspection on my 1986 Carrera. He was right about that car (I brought it) and over the years he and his team have always taken the time to answer any questions that I've had and explain all options when it came to repairs and servicing.
