This dental office is really sloppy. I would not trust anything they have to say when it comes to billing. I've complained with the bbb and the board of dentistry. Do not go here unless you have to. You will get a late bill months later and they have horrible service when it comes to these types of issues. Unless you like being ripped off don't go here. This place has been a godsend for me. They saved my smile just in time for my wedding! I had an urgent need to replace my front tooth (long story) and they not only did my implant perfectly but also didn't settle when my crown came in and it was the wrong color the first time. They put so much time and effort into my tooth that I have decided to switch to them for all my dental needs going forward. I have been extremely grateful to the doctors and techs here! absolutely would never recommend this dentist. My autistic daughter needed extensive dental work done with two root canals and it took him over 4 hours, at which he left her in the chair and assisted other patients during that time. it cost over $6000 and he didn't send her home with any pain killer or antibiotics. she was up crying all night because of the pain and was closed the following day. Do not come here for orthodontics unless you're okay with extremely long waits to see the doctor. He is only in twice a month and they are not a consistent every other week. The books do not open until a month out and they recommend calling when you start on the last set of aligners they give you. But when you call for that appointment, the next available is a month out leaving you in your current set of cracked aligners for 5 weeks. The doctor will only give you two months of aligners at a time but can't see you for your next appointment for 3 months. Make it make sense. When you are finally seen by the doctor, the appointment is less than 5 minutes. After you've been taken back, he looks at your teeth for 2 seconds, brushes off any concerns that you have, hands you 4 more sets and says "see you in 2 months!". I wish I spent a little more and went to a different orthodontist. read more

Newport Dental staff were tremendously caring and helpful to me when visiting and interacting with their Katella office. I use to be dental visit unfriendly, but not anymore. TG Dr. Shahram Ashtiani is not just an incredible doctor, he's a Michelangelo of the "Dental Arts," both in the mastery of providing outstanding dental services and care, but that he patiently and articulately educates his patients to better manage their dental hygiene with clear and concise suggestions. i got my wisdom teeth removed there, and my surgeon was very nice, it felt like I was in the waiting room longer than the actual surgery and healing went by pretty fast. You just have to make sure you follow the post-op instructions! The general dentist that I usually see is also very nice and makes you feel welcome and doesn't judge you at all! he's one of the best dentist I've ever had i'm never going anywhere else. read more

Poor experience. Employees lacked customer service and communication skills. During the x-ray portion of my visit, I was told to communicate if anything was causing me pain. When I made a noise expressing I was in pain I received no help. When the x ray device fell from my mouth I was told, "yea, let's not do that." Jessica (the woman doing my x rays) kept bickering with me and told me to raise my hand from under the weight x ray vest to show I was in pain... after she scolded me for previously showing signs of pain. She was rude, showed no empathy, and overall made my first experience at Newport dental extremely unpleasant. read more

Horrible place went there today for an appointment 1st time. took a bunch of x-rays and didn't even clean my teeth. They didn't do anything in particular and just took x-rays and explained to me what I needed: $8,000 for a bridge, and they bumped their head about 8000 times. All about trying to upsell you with nonsense, horrible service, set me an estimate to confuse the heck out of me. I still don't understand the damn estimate they gave me. I am very disappointed we'll never go there again. I have insurance. At least you could have do is clean my damn teeth while I'm there. What a great experience! I was nervous because i saw the bad reviews on here, but when i looked at google and their website, i saw glowing praises so i decided to give it a try. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. They were quick, efficient, kind, friendly, and treated me like a normal person with a budget. They respectfully asked if my slightly crooked teeth were something i would want to change (it wasn't) instead of saying i HAD to change it. They agreed that my misalignment wasn't negatively affecting anything else and didn't push me to do something i wasnt interested in doing. The dentist was gentle and very aware while checking my teeth and made sure i wasnt in too much discomfort. And when he found my chipped filling he explained everything clearly for me and listened when i stated that although unnecessary, i wanted to have it repaired because it was bothering me. Overall, a fantastic experience. I am so glad i chose them. read more

I wish I could give 100 stars to this office for the incredible service and honest professionalism I received. Prior to coming to this office, I attempted to receive care from another dentist's office called Orange Premier Dental in Orange, CA. Unfortunately, that office tried to charge me over $1800 for supposed 'special services' that were not covered under my insurance. I felt uneasy about the way they did not explain the needed procedures so I looked to Newport Dental for a 2nd opinion. Thank God I did because Newport Dental not only got me in for a new patient exam within 2 days, but they also performed all the procedures I needed that same day in record time if you ask me lol. I received professional, genuine, and honest care from everyone I encountered starting with the wonderful ladies at the front desk to the amazing back office assistant who did my X-rays and assisted in the procedures performed by the talented and obviously very experienced Dentist himself. Everything that needed to be done was 100% covered by my insurance! Words can not express my gratitude to this office for being honest, educated, professional, and efficient. I am beyond happy that I chose to come to Newport Dental-orange for a 2nd opinion and I will always keep my business here. So I went to Newport Dental and I had to get fillings. they had me waiting for more than an hour. My appointment was at 8am and I got there at 8:05am so I figure okay I'll wait for a bit since I was 5 min late. I sat in the chair until 9ish and it wasn't until I complained to one of the dentist there that I had been waiting in the chair for another half an hour and no one was doing anything. When I said that a dentist came in quickly and did my fillings. Another patient came in at 9 and that same dentist was working on his teeth. That patient had been coming to them for a while (based on the conversations they were having). I don't think it's fair that new patients have to wait a while to get seen. If you give me an appointment I expect to get seen with in half an hour it is ridiculous that I waited for more than an hour for a 20 min job. I am also reasonable and the fact that they weren't transparent bothers me. I have a job and I asked for specific hours to be off so it bothers me when my time is not respected. And btw: A week or two weeks later my wisdoms tooth where I had a filling was hurting. I couldn't even chew on my left side. I went back and the service was a little bit faster. However, my tooth is still currently hurting. So it's a drag to go back and forth. However before that when I first did my initial appointment I asked about my wisdom teeth being removed because that's were I needed fillings and I figure to just removed them because it is already hard to brush and floss my wisdom teeth. I had asked to removed them and one of the assistants said for me to focus on the filling and then looking into removing them. That doesn't make sense! But I don't know about teeth i just figure why get filling when they can get removed. After my filling appointment, I told the dentist of removing my teeth and she said that I should have asked for that because it doesn't make sense to remove them now since I got a filling. -________- (I knew I was done with this place) I don't think they coordinate well. I don't think they listen to the concerns of the patients. The reason why I also say this is because I also got a braces consultation and I was asking about Invisalign and I felt the orthodontist was pushing braces and trying to remove 4 front teeth (I want to remove my wisdom teeth not my front teeth. I had call earlier in the day set up the appointment, provided my insurance information to whom I talk to. Upon my early arrival to my appointment I walk in and I see that two receptionist are on their personal cellphone laughing and minding their own business. I signed in and they proceeded to tell me that they are in lunch and asked me to wait outside the building. I couldn't wait in the waiting area despite it being open and no signs posted saying they are in lunch at all. Highly unprofessional even to the point where they wanted me to provide my information again saying that I talk with an operator. I know I did not speak to an operator because they made it very clear I needed a mask despite being vaccinated I genuinely don't recommend these provider I recommend elsewhere. I'll happily drive to another provider. I don't recommend this place anymore because I spent over $1700 out of my own pocket (Plus what my insurance paid) to get partials made over a year ago.... which they made molds for them.... which I never got but they took my money! Then they had the audacity to contact me and tell me I still owe them more money several months later.... because they said my insurance didn't cover some of the cost... which I paid for that too.... and on the same phone call I asked them when I was going to get my partials. They said "What? You never got those? We will check into that and get right back with you". That never happened but yet here it is almost a year later and they send me a text saying I need to come in for my yearly cleaning. So they have no problem taking my money... but apparently they have a problem keeping records... and following through with what they say they're going to do! read more

I truly don't understand all the bad reviews for Newport Dental Orange. I'm a recent new patient here, and I have received the utmost respectful attention and guidance. The first appointment revolved around new patient information and X-rays, and they later suggested I consider aligners. The invoice for the aligners at my old dentist's office were nearly double of the estimate I received here. My second time at the office, I accepted the estimate and came in for teeth scanning; my third time (a month later), I had my first aligner mold installed. The entire team was so caring and sweet! Shoutout to all the doctors (Dr. Ashtiani) and assistants - they were lovely. Excited to keep coming back here to get my progress checked. read more

Good dentists, staff is mostly competent with the exception of their billing practices. Be extra careful when getting your estimate, get it in writing and have it signed. I am still being billed after having the entire amount put on care credit, I specifically asked if there would be any further changes as I would have added any additional fees to care credit. She understood and told me For Sure no further fees would be forthcoming. 6 months later I am still receiving bills from them. At the stage where I might need a lawyer. I didn't think much going to the dental. First time coming in for a checkup for some concerns and everything was a-okay on the phone. I then noticed their poor and unprofessional customer service. They started speaking with a client who was very professional and understandably upset as the wires of her daughter's braces popped frequently after getting them tightened from this dental, and was asking for the quickest checkup as she was in pain. I wasn't really paying attention but the worker got noticeably annoyed and started speaking with the mom with a very condescending tone saying there is no more space for them, which the manager came from request and more professionally situated with the mom, but did not fix any problems. I myself was not happy but then fixed my problem no big deal and went to another dental. Got a lot more done and thankfully had the other dental be compassionate, helpful and explained everything that we had to know. It was a noticeable change since the workers from here talked at us rather than just casually fixing this problem we had for a deep cleaning. For my daughter to go through any care under the dental table we had to pay and didn't really felt like we had another choice, when the other dental had everything totally covered with insurance. read more

If I could give this office 6 stars, I would. I've been coming here for a couple of years and have needed extensive dental work. Dr A has always made sure that my nerves were under control and my pain was minimal. Saturday morning, I woke up with the worst pain in my mouth I had ever experienced. I had a lower back tooth that was beyond repair and hadn't been diligent about getting it removed because it wasn't causing any pain. The pain came out of nowhere and was so bad I could hardly talk - thankfully they got me in and were able to remove the tooth and immediately relieve the pain I had been in. I have never or probably ever will again say this, but this is my FAVORITE Dentist Office!!! I had to have Oral Surgery. The first time I attempted, I was petrified. I was sedated and some time during the procedure (I was told) I woke up out of the sedation as you could imagine, that just added to my almost paralyzing fear of the Dentist I finally went to have the procedure completed. Dr. Ashtiana and his assistants Amy and Tony were extremely patient and professional at keeping me calm every single step of the way. I've been looking for a dentist for a year and a half after I found out that my previous dentist went out of state to work with VA hospital. I saw other dentists during her absence and I was so disappointed. One even was so horrible, made me cry for 3 days. Anyhow, I was lucky when my husband told me to see Dr. Ashtiani. I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful he is. He is very knowledgeable, he makes you feel relaxed and he makes sure that your dental work would be at the minimal pain, he is really fast and bottom line is that he is the most amazing dentist I have ever met. The staff are great, just had some problems with my appointment times but that got resolved too. My family would also come to Dr. Ashtiani. Horrible service! They refused to see my 5 year old because they supposedly didn't have the materials to work on baby teeth. They just don't want to deal with kids during COVID-19. Worst place I have been so far. Taken back over an hour after my appointment time all 3 times I've come then left sitting with no clue what is getting done for another 30-45 minutes. They make you schedule a new appointment for every service I assume this is due to being able to collect an office visit charge for work that could easily be completed in one visit. They give very vague descriptions of your options and even tried to say my insurance doesn't work here then came back saying it did work when we said we would just go somewhere else. I was even told they would clean the right side of my mouth and I could come back to do the left. At that point I walked out and will not be returning for myself or my kids. Can't say it enough..
