I would not recommend Newton Roofing. While the roofing job maybe okay the way they damaged my property is not! My white siding and flagstone walk was loaded with asphalt roofing tar and dried up adhesive srips leaving huge dirty marks from throwing the old shingles without care. My wrought iron railing and my gutter guards had the finish scrapped right off of them. Those who were suppose to be supervising the young workers paid no attention to what they were doing. Please think twice before hiring them. read more

cannot say enough about my experience with newton roofing. from the time that I requested a estimate to the completion of the job. Rich melo came to the house with in a few days and used drone to inspect existing roof and got back to me with a detailed estimate and options which i could choose. everything was explained to me so I knew exactly what work was included and finalized the price. was sent detailed folder with all the information insurance paperwork and the scope of work. was put on schedule and given a tentative start date. was notified a few days prior to starting and met with job forman diago going over the site and where to store material and what areas that was needed for ladders, dumpster location ect. roof was stripped and completed in one day with a crew of nine plus workers. work was done in a remarkable orderly fashion and politeness of all involved. when completed everything was cleaned up and put back to original condition. Every aspect of the job was done in a professional manor and genuine concern that I was satisfied with the job. I would recommend newton roofing to anyone that needs roofing work done from the pricing which was absolutely reasonable to the end product that was highly satisfactory and to the personality of all involved made it a pleasure to work with this company. I'm a co-owner of a four story condo in Brookline that experienced some rubber roofing being ripped up from strong winds, and also began to experience some minor leaking at the other end of the roof at the same time. I had a half dozen roofers come out for estimates and to take a look around. Rich Melo came out and he gave the most thorough inspection and identified all areas of concern. He also turned around a quote rather quickly and it was not the lowest we had, but it was the second lowest, and his professionalism and competence made us hire him over the lowest quote as we had way ore confidence in him. As I said, he identified small tears in our membrane that the lowest quoted contractor missed. Rich's crew showed up on time the day of the work, cleaned up nicely and did a good job. In fact they did the job close to a year ago. I figured to wait a bit before writing a review to make sure the new roofing repairs held up and at this point we have no concerns so they obviously have done so. I hired Newton Roofing to fix a leak in my roof. Their estimate was in line with other companies' estimates, and from what I can tell the workers did a good job. However, I was not impressed by the communication or follow-through. When I signed the contract, they were booking 4-5 weeks out, but Rich said he would have someone come by that week to patch the leak so that we wouldn't get more water damage. No one came to do the patch, so I followed up a week later. He had an excuse, but said that someone would come by the following week. No one ever came to place a patch, and Rich stopped responding to my emails. Four weeks after signing the contract, I called to find out when the work would be scheduled. Someone on the phone told me that they would be at my house at the end of the week. Again, no one came. Five weeks after signing the contract, I called again and expressed that I was unhappy. I was finally able to talk to Rich, and he finally scheduled someone to come fix the roof. I understand that things come up and that the work is dependent on the weather, but I was not happy that no one reached out to me at any point about the delays, and that they failed to contact me when they did not show up on the scheduled days. Additionally, Rich told me during our initial email exchange that they would inspect the rest of our roof while the team was there, specifically an area where there was a split in the fascia board. I do not believe that this happened, and honestly I was so frustrated that I just let it go. However, I do think that a truly good company would follow through on things like this. read more

Best roofing company in Boston hands down! As part of our church family, we had put off replacing the roof of our church for years due to budgetary constraints. We worked with Rich Melo of Newton Roofing and he was extremely understanding of our situation and he bent over backwards to help us. Our roof is not easy, most roofers we called shied away because of the numerous peaks and valleys and detail work. The inside of the roof, namely the ceiling is very ornate and has so much detailed work so we were very worried that any leaks or problems would ruin the interior. We felt the most trustworthy roofer was Newton Roofing and boy are we glad we made that decision. After tons of rain, snow, storms, wind, the roof has held up perfectly. I called them for a quote, a guy came out to take a look at the job and said he would get back to me in a day or two. Four days passed and still no quote. I called them and left a message after 5 days and nobody called me back. I waited another two days and called back AGAIN. A woman answered and I told her the situation, she got all my info and said she would talk to the person who gave me the quote and would get back to me. She never called me back. Newton Roofing Residential was an absolute pleasure to work with regarding my new roof. Their salesman showed up on time and provided me with a very competitive price. Installation was a breeze. The material showed up they day before the installation. I left early for work the next day and came home to a beautiful completed roof. We have kids and pets and was worried about leftover debris in the yard, but the yard was clean of any signs of the project. Received a call today from the person who originally came out to look at the roof. He agreed that the company dropped the ball on this and that his crew was supposed to come take a look but that it just fell off the schedule. He did offer to have the crew come over same day, but I had already worked with another company to have the leak repaired. I am writing this update because I appreciate the fact that a representative from the company called to apologize that this had fallen through the cracks - that shows integrity as a business. read more

I called Newton Roofing and they came out a couple days later (unlike every other roofer I called) - Richard was super helpful and knowledgable. I had gotten an estimate for $2800 from another roofer for what I know now to be unnecessary work done to my house. Richard figured out that the source of this minor leak was due to wind driven rain from the window not the roof. Saved me a ton of money and a big headache! We used Newton Roofing residential to reroof our rental property in Braintree and we could not have had a better experience. The estimator didn't try to sell us things that weren't needed, and the crew got there when they said they would. That was nice because I had to meet them out there before work. The project manager went over everything that the crew would do and what I could expect. My tenant expressed concerns over her planted rose bush but at the end of the day the bush was fine. All the plants were fine and it looked like they had never been there! I did have concerns over nails in the driveway and told the project manager and he assured me that they go over the grounds with a magnet twice All in all I got a roof with a lifetime warranty done in one day, at a competitive price and I would use them again in a minute if I needed to. read more

Just an update to my 9/13/11 post.....Its been over a year and I still find roofing nails in my driveway. Also, over the course of the year my roof leaked in three spots. They came out and determined that it was all from one source and fixed the problem (so they say). Now I'm concerned about mold cause I have a 15 month old daughter. read more

When I was in need of a roof, I searched on Google for local roofers. After talking to my neighbors and local contractors, they all said Newton Roofing was the best. In fact they did the roof on my parents church in Framingham and apparently many roofers turned it down due to its complexity. Apparently they've been in business for a long time and when I called them they were so polite and professional. Within 24 hours, I had their manager show up at my house and he was very thorough and very professional. He took the time to explain to me all the differences in roofing products and why prices vary so much. I decided to go with Newton Roofing and I made the best decision for my home. I was really disappointed in Newton Roofing. I had used them several years ago for repair work and foudn them helpful and responsive. Obviously things have changed over there because I didn't get a call back for several days and when I did, they were rude and dismissive, and seemed too busy to care about my questions.
