We had the best time here at Next Round watching the Raiders game. I was surprised at their wide offerings of breakfast and bagel sandwiches, my recommendation would be the Melt hands down!! The wait staff and manager were so happy and attentive... and the drinks were very reasonably priced. The ambiance here is grown up but fun and lively... Having the DJ's spinning old school jams like DJ Quik and Sugafree really took us back to the good ol days. Lunchtime was here before we knew it and I was mowing down some fire Quesabirria tacos!! Everyone else seemed to be on their way to blotto the night I dropped in to dance to The Funk! I knew the drinks packed a stiff punch here; by the looks of the crowd, the fix might have been in. I espied quite a few people who had either lost count or were about to go down for the count. Looked like the gloves were off in the bar and lit up on the sign out front. The music was most funkified. A veteran of the DJ profession, Esteemed Senor DJ FROG, dropped a few lowrider boogie funk slappers, a few 80s crowd pleasers, and a few Rick James tunes. The man definitely put in a few hours behind the wheels of steel in his day; one can hear it in the beats. DJ Frog puts on one fun dance tracks after another, he knows how to select tracks for a room, and he is exceptionally good at taking requests and working the crowd. Everything Frog did resonated with the dancers, and every other person who walked in waved to Frog or appeared to be friends with the Froggy--a popular amphibian DJ indeed. Another funny perk of this place was the overdressed and overprepared security staff. The security people looked more like a SWAT Team or deployment of green berets than the typical security staff. Get ready for camouflaged dudes who take their job security very seriously. Rimshot. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. "Manager" Ana who was bartending behind the bar scammed me $50. I asked to split 2 drinks separate and she kept the cash ($50) tossing my receipt to me on the pad WITH $0 change. When I asked her for my change, she said She charged both on card and said I never gave her cash when I clearly handed her the bill on top of my car saying separate as I had not even pregamed yet. I asked to speak to Manager and she said it was herself to which I then asked to review the cameras and she said she was busy but I told her I did not mind waiting to which she said she was busy atm. i told her i would wait to which she then threatened to call security to escort my friend and I out. We told her we were only asking for the footage and she said tomorrow Saturday with no time. BTW drinks are shitty tasting there. Security here is extremely rude and homophobic. He cussed out my gay friend for dancing and argued very aggressively with my female friend when she asked him what was the issue which is extremely scary because he is a big man. We were not drunk or anything so not sure why he felt the need to speak to us in a bad manner. Made all of us feel extremely unsafe and uncomfortable because he seemed very violent . When we asked if he had a problem or if he was homophobic he just said "I don't need this sh*t right now" and told us to get out. He was also getting mad at people that were waiting in line for the restroom telling them that why did they have to use the restroom so late when the bar was not even closed yet. Will not be coming here again & don't think we should support places that are not inclusive to all people. Santa Ana is a very diverse city and every place should have workers that understand that.
