We purchased our lesson through "howaboutwe", and Next Step Archery did a great job setting up our date/lessons and making it interactive. Our instructor was patient, informative, and had fun with us. We were about 10 -15 minutes late, and our instructor didn't try to rush us and gave us our full time. Afterwards, we went to look at some archery bows and the staff was busy helping other people. There was another staff member that is not in sales, but was more than willing to help with any questions he could answer for us. I recommend this place for anyone (including kids - they have private and group classes) that want to have a good time and try archery. read more

I've always wanted to learn how to shoot a bow and arrow and when my 30th b-day came up I thought it was time to tick this off my bucket list. My mom arranged for a private lesson for us on a Thursday afternoon. There were no other lessons going on so we had the place and instructor to ourselves. It's kind of terrifying the first time you attempt to shoot but after 10 tries you get the hang of it and can focus on hitting the target where you actually want to hit the target. The instructor was even patient with me when I was crying in frustration. HEY! IT'S SCARY TO HAVE TO PULL THE BOW BACK TO YOUR FACE! lol I'm not sure I enjoyed it enough to want to take lessons, but this would make a great team building / morale event. Next Step is a terrific place to learn all about archery and have an awesomely fun time. Classes are completely affordable - 6 weeks of training, all equipment included, plus an excellent instructor and support staff. All for just $100. The place teems with youth, but even at 55 y.o., I felt totally at home. They've got an excellent pro shop as well. Want to do something fun and challenging? THIS is it! read more

We had an Archery Tag event at their facility. The instructor wasn't very good explaining/practicing how to use a bow and arrow which most of us hadn't used before. The room was small and not well set up for such an event (fluorescent lights exposed that we were warned not to hit as it would cause a 1 hour evacuation, the team space wasn't evenly divided requiring constant warnings not to cross a specific line for one team). The instructor was very bad at giving specific feedback to individuals just shouting remarks in general, leading people to miss his timeout signal as it sounded like just another comment. The instructor had very little charisma and felt more like a frustrated PE teacher, than somebody facilitating a fun team event. The only good part to come of this event is that a bunch of us bonded over drinks afterwards describing how bad the experience was. read more

We came here for a private party and the instructors were very knowledgeable and diligent. They really make sure that everyone has a thorough training to avoid any accidents. We had a great time and the instructor was really cool about letting us have our music going and organizing the round. Just be aware that even though the bow is covered with a marshmallow like pad, it's still going to hurt to get hit the stomach lol. Obviously I need to work on my ducking and dodging but I would definitely recommend coming here. read more

My hubby and I took a private lesson here for fun. The Coach John definitely knows his stuff and is really good at making sure all the nuances of your form are perfect...archery seems easy but there is really a lot that you have to focus on than just shooting the arrow. All in all we had a good time and I think we will definitely come back and try our shooting again. read more

I went on a completely randomly chosen date here and had a couples lesson. I wasn't sure what to expect, because I've never done any archery before. It was great! Our instructor, John, was great and gave excellent pointers and suggestions. He was try patient with our inexperience and really helped out! I took a 1-hour lesson with my 11-year old son and our instructor was John Burrows. The lesson started with a safety discussion that was quite serious, given we'd be working with something that can be used as a weapon. During the lesson, he treated us both with respect, and spent time with both of us instructing us on our technique. Since we are both beginners, it involved a lot of reminders. He always delivered them with a smile. We are both intrigued enough to want more lessons. read more

Signed up for 3 private lessons to get a start in learning archery. Each lesson was focused, informative, and my instructor, John, was incredibly patient when I struggled to execute on the principles being taught. He also set me up with some wonderful training techniques to work on my weak points as well as the overall knock & draw process. Most importantly, it was a lot of fun! I took my two boys for a group lesson (total four people) for the Introduction to Archery Groupon. John was very patient and hands-on as needed, especially with my nine year old who is suspected to be on the Autism spectrum and gets flustered and distracted easily. I did a group lesson for a birthday party and had a blast! They did a wonderful job accommodating our large group of 14, and still gave all of us individual attention. John was a fun, enthusiastic instructor, and his attitude was contagious. I felt much more confident with a bow within just a short time, though I had never shot one before. Wonderful venue, and there was even an area to enjoy dinner and cake. I would highly recommend Next Step Archery to anyone who wants to do a fun, unique group event.
