Waited at the airport for 50 minutes in MCO and a shuttle never came to pick us up. Left several messages at Nextcar because no one answered the phone. Finally took a cab to Nextcar and they claimed shuttle service was operating on schedule and basically said we were lying. Had to pay inflated insurance prices even though the website states " No insurance verification required for customers flying in who present a valid round trip airline voucher". Paid for a vehicle that seats 7 with room for 5 large suitcases and received a smelly Toyota Highlander that barely seats 5 with luggage. We were told to sign on the signature pad without being told what we were signing and would receive paperwork "later". After paying almost double what we originally agreed upon from Expedia due to "extra" charges (paid for an extra driver and we didn't have one) we drove away in a stinky, dirty, subpar so called premium vehicle. Contacted Expedia and they believed Nextcar and assumed we missed the shuttle (THERE WASN'T A SHUTTLE FOR OVER 50 MINUTES!). Expedia was no help at all and have lost any future business from us. This is a bait and switch company. they give you one price online especially through priceline and then when you get there they tell you all these other fees like you have to pay for insurance even if you have your own insurance you have to pay for transponder even though you have your own Sunpass doesn't matter they were very rude they would not allow me to cancel then when you take your car out it's up to you to take pictures of any damage they don't give you any kind of contract that shows the condition of the car when you took it read more

I paid for my Florida vacation rental 6 months in advance on my credit card. Once I arrived, I was asked again for my card so that they could charge the security deposit. NextCar (or OnTracRentaCar as they appear on my credit card charges) had double charged me the second time -- I paid the full amount (again) and the security deposit. I attempted to work with the vendor multiple times, granting multiple chances for them to return the money. In the end, they only returned the security deposit, kept the double charge (which was more than the security deposit), and even had the gall to charge me an extra 20 for tollway fees. I have since opened a dispute case with my credit card company to force these frauds to return what they should never have stolen. read more

Holy hidden fees! Well I booked my request months in advanced. Christmas Day early, no other car rental place available, except Next Car so couldn't change, they gave me a lot of hidden fees! My quote was around $265 for a week went up to more like $800, with $350 as insurance! Booked a minivan rental with NextCar (PHL) via Priceline this past Sunday evening. I only needed a 1 day rental. For whatever reason, all rental prices near Philadelpia Airport are sky high this week. The base rental price for the NextCar minivan was $80/day + taxes & fees which was a bargain. Received a phone call last night from a NextCar representative saying they wouldn't have the minivan available until after 3:00PM - I fly in at 9:30AM. I told them a minivan wasn't necessary and would happily accept any vehicle. They said they had no vehicles available to rent. Imagine that! In all my years of traveling and renting cars, I've never known a car rental company not to have some vehicle available for rent. Seems to me that they did not want to honor Priceline's rate of $80/day given that the average price for most rentals is $110+/day + taxes & fees. I do not see this as Priceline's fault although their relationship with NextCar reflects poorly on them. The only positive here is that, at least, NextCar had the courtesy to call to say they wouldn't have a car rather than me discovering that tomorrow morning. read more

Just about the worst car rental experience I have had! I won't never go back to this business and I recommend you neither too. Here is what happened: I booked a five-day rental, and when I went to pick up my car in the morning of 8/29/22 around 8:30 am, I was told by the desk that my own car insurance's deductible of $1000--I have Geico--was too high and thus I was required to purchase NextCar's insurance. I was very surprised as this was the first time I was ever told my own insurance was not enough. I told the front desk, well you can't simply tell a customer his/her own insurance is not enough during pick up and this information should be disclosed while a reservation was booked. The front desk told me he doesn't deal with this kind of issues and all that he knows is my deductible was too high and I can't rent their car until I purchased an insurance through them. I then had to call the customer service and the person who picked up the phone told me she was just in charge of taking calls and no one would be able to help until after 10 am. I ended up canceling my reservation and walking ten minutes down the road to Enterprise to rent a car without any problems. Even worse, a few weeks later I found out they still charged my my credit card anyway and hadn't refunded me. When I called the customer service, they blamed me for the cancelation, and still charged me 5% fee for the cancelation. What a waster of time and money! read more

Use their free VIP Express service (get their app for reserving your car) and you will walk up to the counter, be handed your keys and be on your way with almost no interaction. Worst rental car experience ever. Once you get to the counter, they basically double whatever price you are quoted through Travelocity. Additionally, the engine light came on in the rental minivan which cost us a day of our vacation. NextCar expected me to bring my two little kids an hour back to the car rental office to pick up a new car and then drive an hour back to our hotel instead of delivering a different vehicle to us like other rental car companies do. I prepaid $176.15 for a 4-day rental through NextCar's website and was hit with over $100 in fees upon arriving at the check-in. The car they gave me was dirty and had bird poop on the hood. Nothing went wrong while driving the car, but the return process was anything but smooth. We drove the car into the garage at the Tampa airport and a worker came right out. He walked up to the windshield, and within seconds, told us that it was cracked. I'd inspected the car before driving it off the lot and they had taken pictures of its condition as well. I asked him to pull up the photos of the car they had taken when it was last returned. The same white mark was on the windshield and could be seen from multiple angles in the pictures they had taken. The worker kept denying this, saying it was a "water spot". The car did not look to be washed when we received it and the white mark was exactly where he pointed out the windshield crack. It seemed as if they were targeting us and l felt taken advantage of. PLEASE STAY AWAY!! Go with a larger more trusted company. Using NextCar is not worth the hassle and other companies end up being cheaper after NextCar tacks on their hidden fees. read more

This place offers good rental cars at a low price, until you are there picking up the car. Then they insist you get their insurance, pay their daily toll allowance, etc. What we were told at booking would be about $400 for ended up being almost $900 when the car was picked up.. Avoid this place and their hidden fees. In addition, the location is far from the airport and requires a shuttle to get there. Then there is only one person working the desk. The 'supervisor' was so rude, he told me one story on the phone, I paid 30$ uber to come to this location, and when I came he was giving me hard time for about 2 hours, by that time I was already late. Later on, one lady was about to assist me, and he saw that and started acting like he is some big boss or what so ever, and said to me you know what, suddenly I don't have any car for you.. and when I asked for his name he refused to give it to me and started laughing to me.. and I heard lady who was in line in front of me, she was late 45 min to return the car, and the fee for that is 5$, they charged her 100$ and didn't want to refund it to her. read more

I saw all the bad reviews here after I booked my car, because I procrastinated and my usual go-to rentals have been booked up (like National or Enterprise). I was almost going to cancel the reservation but decided to chance it anyway. The manager was prompt and courteous, although she was shouting at someone for not doing their job in the back office. The car was very average--it was clean but had over 20k miles, and the car was of the basic trim. I guess this was fine for the price. The return was fine--I cut it pretty close but the return was on time, and there was no drama. I do find the security deposit somewhat odd. The biggest complaint of my trip is that the rental car facility is so far away from the airport--of course, not something the rental car companies could control. read more

NEXTCar rental in Orlando is a ripoff. Booked through online Hopper app. Prepaid for 4 days of insurance and Nextcar refused to accept the policy. Had to pay for another insurance policy directly thru them. Car had 42,000 miles on it. Tire pressure was low. Waited at MCO for 45 minutes to be picked up. Nobody answers the phone. 3 other parties had the same issues while I was checking in. Never again. read more

Horrible bait and switch! I called 3 times to make sure our private insurance would take care of the rental and all THREE times I was told yes, no problem just bring in a copy. So we did and then they told us NOPE! It DOUBLED the cost of our rental. They are out in a horrible area and the guys asked if I wanted to cancel with my wife and two little kids in the middle of the slums! The car smelled like smoke but I didn't notice until 30-45 minutes into my drive and by the time I called Nextcar to exchange it I was told the closest location was where I picked up the rental since Nextcar is only located in MD. I had to stop at a store and buy an air freshener and a towel to sit on so the smell didn't get on my clothes. I ended up being in the car for about 7 hours and had to drive with the windows down and the heat on high in order to tolerate the smell. The smell of smoke got worse the longer I had the car. The hubcaps were painted black and chipping badly. There was dog or cat hair on the floor in the back of the car. The car did not shift properly when going downhill. read more

Never rent from NextCar, worst experience ever!!! Charged additional fees that shouldn't have been allowed and charged for two extra hours when I brought my car back early!!!! They told me there was "an issue with their system" and they had to adjust the fees. No receipt when I left the rental car agency they said they would email it. "Time Special Adjustment" fee added to my bill, when I questioned it they said its only for if you use a booking company and I told them I called NextCar directly on phone to make reservation that it needs to be credited back to me and they refused. I should have read the reviews 1st! Terrible 1st experience. I scheduled my pick up at 11pm. Once I arrived they needed to call and confirm my insurance. Yes, the office is closed its 11pm. That information was not communicated in any correspondence to me. The young lady at the counter said I should have visited the website...ummmm No! I've rented from 2 other places there around the same time (one last night) and did not need to show proof. Yes, I have full coverage just please communicate with your customers if they need to provide info.. Oh and if they cant confirm then you will need to have 2 bills on you. What the what?? I chose this company because they had the cheapest rates. It's a no-frills company, but all I wanted was to rent a car. I didn't need a lot of extra frills. I like that I was not lectured about why I should get the insurance. I told them my insurance company said I didn't need extra insurance, and NextCar accepted that and moved on. As with all car rentals there is a lot to read and sign and initial. The counter help was pleasant and had me quickly in a car. read more
