Big John's is walking distance from our home. My favorite time of the year is spring time because of the crawfish. Hubby and I sit on the pattio and dive into a bucket of bugs. He also enjoys the buffalo burgers. The clientele is typically significantly older than me (I'm talking 45+) but they are usually friendly. The staff is prompt and very pleasant.

Cobb salad. Surprised by how good this was.

This is a favorite watering hole. Charmingly divey with a complement of regulars. Karaoke on Friday nights. I've heard spectacularly bad Led Zeppelin covers there. It's probably more fun when the weather is nice. Lots of choices for beer lovers. Lots of pub food choices, I like their potato skins a lot. Took a chance on a Cobb salad and was impressed by homemade tasting blue cheese dressing and well prepared chicken on the salad. Not fancy but it is a cozy little corner to meet up for drinks and snacks.

Fried pickles - done the right way, chip style, none of the spear nonsense!

Great, dive-y little spot, hidden in the Energy Corridor - perfect for grabbing a beer and some bar grub. I prefer coming on Monday's when you can get a burger and fries for $5 and wash it down with $2.50 domestic bottles! Their fried pickles also can't be beat. They've got plenty of seating, both indoors and outdoors (covered), so they can accommodate large groups for those post-work happy hours.

    Quick service!

My first time here was on a Thursday and it was trivia night.. I had great experience as the whole bar was interacting with each other and having a great time.. Great awards are given for the 1st place and 2nd place winners. I notice my waitress was serving a lot of people but she was still swift with my drinks and very polite. A lot of TVs here showing sport games. They also have ping pong table in the back which was fun for me. I am definitely coming back here .

Crawfish boil is so good I want some right now.

The girl who checked us in was cool but then it wall went downhill from there We went to our pool table and started playing, now the pros..nice clean place, lots of TV's and tables and pretty spacious but the service was horrible The wait staff as you can imagine were women in their 20s which that type of place is expected, but with young ppl like that come arrogance, attitudes and laziness, we waited about 30 minutes to even be approached for drinks and the girl that came up to us seemed like she didn't want to be there but did it anyway b/c she was forced, but before that, all the waitresses were gathered at the front registers and completely ignoring us, how do I know, b/c ALL of them looked me straight in the eye and turned their heads or walked away from us, I had to wave my hands in the air and look like a fool to even be seen, then finally we got "Service" from "Tasia" The food was cold by the time we got it, the drinks were cool but the place is a bit overpriced but for that type of place, not surprised, throughout the visit our waitress (and others) walked to everyone else but us, so we felt ignored, I would pull the race card since I WAS the only brother in there but it was a mixed race crowd and wait staff so I can't play that card All in all we felt ignored not just by Tasia but the other wait staff the food was mediocre and overpriced and not that this review matters b/c unless you're an adult that expects decent service when you go to an establishment like this and not a 20 year old kid who pretty much doesn't care..this isn't the place for adults. Whiskey River has better service. But at least I checked it out and now that I have..this place makes me miss living in Katy.

They managed to keep the same relaxed neighborhood vibe people love while giving it a much more modern, polished, and upscale feel. The updated design, lighting, TVs and overall atmosphere look incredible and make the space feel fresh without losing its personality. They still have the spinning drink wheel! The outdoor seating especially feels elevated now and makes for the perfect Houston brunch spot or night out. One of the best parts about NextDoor is that it's connected to Hungry's, which means you get full access to their menu while enjoying the lounge atmosphere. Being able to order everything from cocktails and appetizers to full meals while at a bar is a game changer. The food is consistently good, the drinks are strong (especially the frozen options) well-made, and everything comes out quickly. What keeps me coming back year after year is the consistency. The staff has always been welcoming and attentive, the crowd is chill, and it never feels overly pretentious or chaotic. It's one of those rare spots that works for everything, whether it's happy hour after work, date night, catching up with friends over drinks on the patio or a solo adventure. Love seeing a longtime Houston favorite continue to evolve while still delivering the same great experience that's kept me coming back for years. Definitely one of my go-to spots on Memorial Drive. My only suggestion is to tell the younger staff members to be conscious of their conversations while guest are dining nearby. I love people watching but I heard a lot of things. It appears Hungry's uses the bar area like a break/training room or to do other tasks like rolling utensils in napkins.

Second, I discovered that they're owned by the same people behind Masraff's. That's a good start. They're located in a shopping center with several other businesses, including a cat vet right next door. While it was busy, I didn't have trouble finding a parking spot. Ambiance (4/5): This is part of where By Popular Demand (BPD) shines. The interior is trendy, with both tabletop seating and more comfortable chairs and sofas. There's a small patio in the front and a larger one on the side. There aren't a ton of seats inside, so think of it as a smaller, more intimate bar. Service (3.5/5): A little slow to start out with as it took our waitress a good while to come and take our order (we were sitting on the front patio). She did apologize for the delay, and she was friendly from there on out, so things improved throughout our evening there. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior so I was on a liquid diet. I have heard they have a pretty awesome steak night on Mondays though. Next time around! Drinks (3.5/5): While they have a full bar, BPD is a cocktail bar. They have 10-12 craft cocktails, plus everything else you would expect at a bar. I went with That Cucumber Drink. I'm always a fan of any cocktail that incorporates cucumber. It was one of the few items on the menu that stood out to me. A decent number of of the offerings are more of your standard cocktails (margaritas, ranch waters, etc.) and a good number have brown liquor (while I prefer clear liquor). Not the best menu for my taste, but that's not to say it's not a solid menu. Next time around, I'll have to stop by for steak night or to try out their food menu.

I've been an avid Netherlands' futbol supporter over the last 30+ years and never knew a place existed in Houston.. but was pleasantly surprised to have seen this packed house with a very lively atmosphere inside.. Most of the crowd there tho, like myself, weren't actually Dutch, but everyone was just there for the vibes. That said, we ended up standing outside because it was probably over capacity. Took me a good 30 minutes just to order a bucket of Heinekens. From what I can tell, this place's giving more of a neighborhood dive bar. It was hot and crowded as one can get (probably over capacity if you ask me.. the parking was hard to find in the neighborhoods nearby and we had to walk a good 5-10min), and $35 for a bucket of 6 small Heinekens isn't really the best deal.. but can't blame them. Our large party had a buffet of food - all of it was basic but tasty - panko-breaded chicken tenders, chips and queso, and quesadillas. Service was actually stellar throughout our time here. Bartenders and servers came around to our group frequently to ask if they could get us anything. I did not expect that from a divey bar like this.
