I absolutely LOVE this place. It's right behind the Golddust Meridian on Hawthorne. His soy curl tacos are the packed with flavor and delicious spices. He is kind and courteous. You wouldn't know it from looking at the place, but they make really good food. I ordered a chicken burrito and expected the usual, but no! The chicken was spiced and flavorful, the rice was cooked perfectly (neither clumpy nor dry), the pico was fresh and crisp...the beans were slightly undercooked, but they were made with love and not dumped out of a can, so I forgave them. Oh, and the hot sauce! The hot sauce! I want a bottle of that stuff to put on everything! Yummy! All of this for only $4. read more

I was originally on my way to another taco truck down the street and found parking in front of this place. Took a look at the menu and decided to stop here and grab lunch. The owner was extremely personable and asked me what I liked in my burritos. Gave my order and hung out in the sun. The burrito itself was delicious. The beans and rice had great flavor. The asada, oh man. I'm so lucky about my asada and it was so perfectly seasoned! Will definitely be going back to try everything else. Favorite Mexican place in town, Por Que No has nothing on this place (other than booze). I always go for the carne burrito and am never disappointed. I have even ordered to and saved one for later. Raul the owner is the man and loves to chat it up about Mexican soccer or just help you practice your Spanish. Service is fast and always with a smile. read more

One of the better taco trucks on the Hawthorne strip in SE Portland. You don't have many good alternatives though: Cha Cha Cha!, Pepino's, and Por Que No are all over priced and extremely busy. Not worth the wait in my opinion. Ordered the tostada salad with a chicken taco and 2 carne asada tacos. Forgot my chicken taco, I didn't want to walk back in the heat, although I was saddened to not be able to try their chicken taco. Green hot sauce was a little too thick/coagulated for my liking, and the carne asada tacos could've used more cilantro seasoning... They were a bit dry. Good overall flavor on the food though! Would consider going back, but won't go out of my way. Will keep going to our favorite spot on Alberta! read more

Really incredibly tasty chicken fajita burritos. The grilled onions are the star here. They almost taste like they've been cooked in wine.

This place blows Los Gorditos out of the water. Everything tastes super fresh, non-greasy, and delicious. You can see the owner cooking up everything to order, which really makes a difference in the taste. The tortillas in the burritos are warm and so good. They are also a great size - big enough to fill you up, but not so big you have to take a nap after. This is my new go-to place for a quick Mexican fix. read more

I stopped here after going to Pepinos up the street only to realize they'd raised prices AGAIN.... all I wanted was a veg taco, so I stopped here for the first time. They have a vegetarian & vegan soyrizo option. I went with vegetarian, it was really lacking flavors. Beans were unseasoned, tomatoes were mealy... I'm gonna try the soyrizo next time, the prices are amazing here! $1.50 -2 per taco so I shouldn't complain, I guess. read more

i had never been here before untill a week or two ago... i was shopping at house of vintage and as i was leaving impulsively decided to buy a single asada taco to curb my hunger. after receiving this taco and eating it while walking down the street i immediately wished i had bought two or three more. it was one of the best tacos i've had in portland. the kind fellow who made it included a small grilled chile pepper on the side which was delicious. simple, but lovely. service was swift and kind. definitely will be back! read more

In all the years I've lived here in the hawthorne area , I have ventured 30/40 blocks in every direction to find great mexican food .. 1 day in passing this cart I couldn't help but to be overcome by the aroma of fresh ingredients that were just over the top !! ..I continued on my way taking care of things for the next 2 hours and then came back to have hands down the best burrito I have ever had !! pretty good horchata and acceptably tasty dollar tacos, though the pork and beef failed to wow, and the corn tortillas were far from exciting. the surprising stand out had to be the chicken tacos, which had been deliciously (and uncharacteristically for mexican food) marinated in something along the lines of soy sauce, and was cooked to impeccable succulency. yum. read more

Best breakfast burritos ever! This is my favorite Mexican place in Portland, and one of my favorite restaurants in town period! The family that runs this truck is so nice and the food is soooo good. While they aren't on the menu, the breakfast burritos are the best breakfast you can get on Hawthorne, and spend less then $6! You can get both meat and vegetarian options for the breakfast burritos, and both are great. I think the secret is some extra butter they put in the burritos! The Neza burrito is also amazing. The food is so flavorful and each item has a unique taste, that stands out from the typical Portland Mexican food trucks you can find everywhere.
