Bahn mi in their take out bag
    Cecilia M.

Have noticed this bahn mi shop on Kingsway a couple of times and always noticed that it's busy. Was craving bahn mi and decided to make the trek to try it out. It appears the #1 special bahn mi is the most popular so I ordered that. The shop sells a bunch of frozen, fresh, and shelf stable items. Not sure if they make their own bread here but a bunch of baguette bread was sitting in an open cardboard box on the counter top. I do like that they make the bahn mi fresh in front of you plus toast it fresh. Solid size and quality and quantity is there for a $8 bahn mi. The only disappointing thing is most bahn mi places include pate and mayo in their bahn mi's but this joint charges $1 for each. Delicious special bahn mi but wish it does include pate.

Holy smokes. Top tier banh mi. I got the special Banh mi (#1). Came into a crowd of people waiting for their orders to be made with a steady flow of customers coming in and out. Most people are ordering multiple banh mis at a time. It was Saturday at 4pm. Pros: - the baguette is perfect, not chewy or dense. Just airy and perfect crunch - meat ratio is solid with decent pickled veg - quick service with plenty of drink, dessert, side, snack, and entree options - no tipping options with contactless payment, pay the price you see on the menu - plenty of street parking in that area, if that complex lot is full - friendly staff

Came on the weekend around 3pm for a Bahn Mi but was informed the bread were all gone for the day. I was sad but left with rice rolls and my friend took the crab salad with rice noodles (the container was huge and had lots of real crab meat). My rice rolls were filled with minced pork and veggies. At home, I heated in the microwave for 50 seconds and they were delicious. Fried onions and fish sauce were also held separately within the container. There are a few seats to eat-in but majority of the food are placed in containers for take out. A large selection of Vietnamese food for the choosing, some you can't find in restaurants. Very homey or "grandma" style cooking/meals. Reasonably priced with generous portions. Staff were friendly and helpful. They indicated the shrimp crackers from Thailand tasted better so we'll pick those up next time. Highly recommend if you need good take-out food or need to bring something to a party. I'll be back.

I visit this deli often for their tapioca shrimp dumplings and mung beans tapioca dumplings with crispy fried onions. For $7.50 it's worth it and easy for take out. Their shrimp salad rolls are easy for snacks or a light meal as well. They're open early so it's easy to grab some food before work or pick up items after work for dinner.

    Cold cut sub #5

Came here on a whim because it looked good and I was hungry. They make banh mis fresh to order (including crisping up the bread). Delicious and affordable ($7.5 for a cold cut sub). Definitely wouldn't mind coming back for another sub and maybe some other foods. I will say the only downside is it's confusing where the line starts and ends. Do you pay first or order first? That experience could be improved. Additionally, there's a lot of other yummy food in boxes but they weren't labeled so it's hard to tell what's what.

Got the special banh mi and it was packed full of meat and veggies in a crispy fresh bun. It wasn't the best banh mi I've ever had but it was very good. The guy who made my sandwich was nice and the lady at the counter on cash was friendly. She suggested I try the fried fish patties and she did not steer me wrong. We also tried the fresh rolls and a vermicelli plate and it was also delicious. I would recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area.

The best Vietnamese sub for me in lower mainland.their House Special. They sell cooked and hot foods as well. Frozen vietnamese marinated meat, sweets and other authentic Vietnamese stuffs. Friendly service ,mostly to go and pick up orders only. Accept cash/card Pretty clean place with free parking shared with other businesses. Market value is reasonable bit the taste is impeccable

Why does this place only have 4 stars.. our subs were soooo good.. fresh, crusty bread with fresh and generous fillings.. iced coffee was delicious.. salad rolls were good but seemed like they were made hours ago.. reasonable prices and free (but limited) parking

Stopped by to get some takeaway for lunch. Tried the #1 special banh mi and it was tasty and filling. Enjoyed the fillings and jalapeño pepper. Great size for $8. There are also prepackaged containers with noodles, rice, soup etc. Service was quick.

They also have a bar area. Kind of an Asian French fusion menu. Food dishes were good and creative, but it didn't really appeal to me. I appreciated the good service and chill atmosphere, but not sure if I would come back. I would say that their house made spicy was really good. A mix of sweet, sour, and spicy. Had a brightness to it yet also very, very spicy. Tastes great on many of the dishes, especially if you wanted a nice "kick" to the food. I believe you can order a jar to take home if you wish.

The space is much nicer, with high ceilings and lots of light - great looking bistro. I ended up trying the following: - Mussels: Very good. Classic dish, but I really like the use of cream in the broth. - Bánh Mì Cay Hải Phòng (Spicy Baguette Sticks): Good. A nice little snack, although it would be easy to recreate at home. - Lamb Chops: Very good. Cooked just right, and the pepper sauce added extra flavour. - Fried Frog Legs: Very good. This was probably the surprise dish for me. They weren't just the legs, but the entire bottom of the frog, so the pieces were huge. The garlic, butter and chili flakes gave it a extra punch. I really enjoyed this one. - Pho Bo: Good. Not the best pho I've had, but it's good enough to stand on it's own. Service was quite good. Very cheerful and quite attentive. Overall a nice meal. It's a great space, the food is solid, and service to match. What I really like is having the variety of both French and Vietnamese dishes, without either of them suffering in quality. Only downside is that is it expensive for what you get.

Cali girl here *wave* I tried a bunch of different places but couldn't really say any was a favorite. I finally asked my nail tech what her favorite place was and she recommended Pho 37 and she was not wrong. Then I remembered that my nail tech will never leave me astray. I only had to try their pho once to know, THIS IS IT. Then I had to get their Bun Bo Hue, just tomake sure. The triple crown will be their Banh Mi, which I'm excited to try next but so far 5 stars all the way. Best Pho broth and the best Bun Bo Hue that I've found so far in the downtown Vancouver area. I'm sure as you fan outside of the city limits that there are just as good options but I've finally found my go to spot close to work and home after 3 months of living here. A plus plus is the huge portions but I also have to commend the meat to noodle ratio is just perfect. This is a cute little spot on Robson. Don't sleep on this one, ladies and gents. Dine in or dining out, don't forget to ask for the chilli garlic oil and garlic vinegar on the side. These condiments will level up any dish!

The only small issue was that it took a little while before someone came to take my order, and I eventually had to wave someone over. It wasn't a big deal, though, especially considering how busy they were. The portions here are huge, especially for the price. The broth was a little sweeter than I personally prefer, but it was very clean, clear, and flavorful. This is what I look for in a good bowl of pho. The noodles were cooked perfectly and had a nice soft texture. I ordered a combination bowl. My only suggestion would be a bit more of tripe and tendon. The tripe was a little sparse, and I honestly didn't realize I had tendon until I was almost finished with the bowl. But I like those, and not a lot of people do. Despite the restaurant being packed, the staff was stayed attentive, kept food coming out quickly, and did a great job taking care of everyone. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming. There was a nice mix of people. Some quietly watching videos on their phones, others catching up over conversation. It felt like the kind of neighborhood spot that attracts everyone. Overall, this is a convenient, affordable place with good pho and generous portions. If I'm in the area again, I'd definitely come back. .

Went in for lunch with my granddaughter, both of us fans of Vietnamese food. Ordered Green Papaya Salad ($12), Lemongrass Chicken on Vermicelli with one spring roll ($17), one lime soda ($6.50) and one pop ($3). Food arrived within minutes of ordering. Portions were very generous. The salad was perfect with everything very fresh, as it should be but often isn't in some places. Plump prawns and the scent and taste of basil was prominent. Delicious! The lemongrass chicken (we ordered extra chicken) with a spring roll was also very generous. We did not finish it between the two of us. Again, all was fresh, tasty and hot. This is one of our standard orders and Pho Goodness did not disappoint. Granddaughter declared it better than at our regular favourite, and Pho Goodness is around the corner from her home and not a bus ride out to Kingsway! Service was friendly and responsive. We asked that the volume be turned off on the massive TV over our heads (which nobody was watching) (it was), requested a glass for the pop and immediately received a tumbler full of ice. Lovely. We have found a new favourite on Davie Street, a true foodie heaven with a collection of independent restaurants of many ethnicities available. We will return to Pho Goodness when the urge for Vietnamese food strikes again.

My wife and I stopped in for dinner one evening and each ordered the aforementioned noodle soup--she got a small ($11.75 plus tax) and I got a regular ($12.75 plus tax). We also got an order of salad rolls ($7.50 plus tax), which comes with 2 rolls. The rolls came quite late. They were pretty standard, coming with fried tofu, vermicelli, and lettuce. The peanut dipping sauce was on the liquidy, salty soy sauce side of things -- I wish it were creamier and less salty. 3/5 The soups were decent. The broth was peppery, with some nice, gentle spices detectable in there. I asked for a side of chili oil, which helped amplify the broth. You get a generous portion of noodles, fried tofu, and vegetables (broccoli, bok choy, carrot). Unfortunately the veggies were quite overcooked -- the broccoli was almost soggy, so were the carrots and bok choy. 3/5 All in all, middle-of-the-road veggie pho. The broth is pleasant. The veggies were overcooked, but plentiful and nicely chosen. Decent place for veggie pho.
