I WANTED to have a good experience but that was not the case when I got there. Only half my head was washed, the back was never touched. I asked for head protectant before blow drying, they said they didn't have , then later found some which later after seeing it was kids detangling spray. My hair was then started to be blow dried by using the dryer to comb upwards (the way you'd pick an afro out) and of course I was seeing and hearing my hair break. When I touched it, it was dry and brittle (that's when I looked at the bottle of spray). I apologized and asked the lady to just stop cos I was not comfortable. I'm trying to protect my hair and every thing they did felt like I was an experiment- combing my hair out before washing it, washing it in hot water the entire time, no heat protectant, the blow drying technique... I asked if they do natural hair, they said they did. They did offer to rewash my hair and start over but I was too traumatized and close to tears. I offered to just pay whatever so I can leave. I was charged $25. I left with a wet head. I looked past the reviews and came here. And the next red flag should have been a big beautiful salon with NO customers just silence (no music or people). To start off I really do like my hair. I got regular sized box braids and went in for a 6 am appointment. They didn't really start on my hair until 6:30, but it was early, they were just opening, and they were prepping the hair for my braids. When they got started they did ask about what size and any special requests about colors. There were two women who worked on my hair and I asked specifically for them to not pull to tight on my nape and my temples. I have long hair with minimal breakage in both of those areas, but they are still very sensitive. There were braids in those areas that I did say specifically "ow" or "that's very tight" and one woman just told me that they would loosen up and that they were just tight because they were new. As soon as I got home I saw the bumps. The white bumps around my head and the angry redness that came with them. Needless to say I took those right on out and now I have the choice between trying to figure out when I can go back and get them to do the couple of braids in the front and back correctly... or just have that hair out which defeats the purpose of having the braids in the first place. Though the service was fast (I got out in 3 hours) and the price is decent, I can't defend stylists who do not take care of your requests when it comes to your hair. read more

1hr wait time & White Flaky product I scheduled an appointment a month in advance for two feeder braids as I was going on a cruise. I arrived to my appointment 5 min early in preparation for a quick 30-45 min appointment. I walked in and at first no one spoke to me, I had to state that I had an appointment. She grumbled at me that she couldn't find it. She eventually found my appointment and told me to sit down. I waited for 30 min until I was told that the stylist that was suppose to do my hair had left early because she had something to do. They told me that someone else was going to do my hair once they were finished with another client. I waited another 30 min before I got to sit in the chair. Then while she was doing my hair the lady complained to the entire salon about how hard it was to do and her hand was hurting. The actual braiding only took 30 min. I spent almost 2hrs in the salon for a 40 min style. The owner did give me a $5 discount for waiting for an hour before my appointment. She said it was not usual for this to happen but a lot people had cancelled, so a braider left. If this was the case they could have easily texted me and let me know to come later. When I got home later that night, the product that was used had dried. There were white chunks, that were not smooth and it was flaky. I texted to let her know and show the pictures. She called me back but essentially brushed me off. Stating that they had to use product in my hair and that it was normal for braids. She didn't really offer a solution, basically blaming me and my hair. Eventually she said to try to use a blow dryer to melt the product and let her know. At this point I was over it. I had to waste more time trying to get more hair presentable. I have spoken to other stylists and they told me the process that was used for my hair was not correct. I was leaving for my cruise in the morning and I had to spend more time to fix it. I was disappointed in the level of service and I didn't like my hair. Salon owner fails to take accountability for poor management and scheduling. First, i was asked to come in earlier than my scheduled appt (asked to come in at 8am vs 9:30 scheduled time). My braids weren't started until my original appt time at 9:30am. I booked this same style of braid in April and was done in under 5 hrs ( the site states 5 hrs 30 mins for service completion). It took 12 hrs to complete the braids!!!!! which is completely unacceptable, as I had other things scheduled based the time service usually takes. I politely ask the owner what she was willing to do to rectify the situation as it was clear she overbooked the stylist. The stylists even complained they had not eaten all day due to the schedule conflicts. Salon owner then stated that there is a "a lot going on behind the scenes" which is not my "the customers" problem. She offered a disrespectful discount of $25 dollars on a $660 dollar service( which was previously $550). I tried to be really nice and speak with her about why this was unacceptable in which she didn't take kindly to the feedback that was only trying to help... as I have been a loyal customer. So now she has lost a loyal customer and everyone that I have referred. Customer service should always be number one in this type of business. A simple note stating they were overbooked and braids would have taken longer (but still shouldn't have been 12hrs!!!!) would have sufficed so I could have booked elsewhere because my time is just as valuable! Hopefully this is a learning lesson. She eventually gave 100 dollars off after going back and forth( which I should not have had to do from the beginning because she was clearly in the wrong). I will most definitely come back!! Waist length, medium-sized, ombre box braids in under 3 hours? That is unheard of. Day 3 and no braids have slipped out. I was so used to having a few braids slip out at the nape of my neck because the texture is different there - clearly, this is not normal. All braids are intact and still look nice. So, you know it's good when I just had my hair braided YESTERDAY, an I'm already planning your next appointment! The salon was like no other African braiding salon that I've been to before. It was clean, decorated stylishly, and not overcrowded with braiders and customers piled on top of one another. The staff was friendly and customer service was on point. I had two braiders install small Senegalese twists in 4 hours. My braids are neat and uniformed, and MOST IMPORTANTLY my hair is not SORE!!!!! Say what?!?! I didn't have to take a migraine pill after getting my hair braided???? I styled my braids in a top bun on DAY 1 and I'm not in excruciating pain??? The braider even asked ME to let her know if she was braiding too tightly! Wow! Like I told my husband, I'm a customer for life and this shop is 45 min away from my house! I have 2 complaints that kept me from scoring a 5 star rating..... I asked for micro Senegalese twists and got small-box ones instead, not micro at all. Now, yes I could have easily said that these are not micros once they started (because the entire time they're braiding you sit in front of a nice large mirror, so I knew....), but I chose to take the small-box ones and I'm glad I did.... Less time in the chair and easier take down, so no biggie. They tried to up the price by $15 bucks when they finished.... Before she started we agreed on a price, and I brought my own hair.... I didn't like the vibe. They barely greet you when you walk in. I think most African shops are like that but one braider kept staring at me like I was in the wrong place. Then on top of that they listen to the radio extremely loud and pretty much yell over the music to talk to each other. Screaming in my ear the whole time. Mostly everyone wore a mask except for one lady. She wasn't doing hair but she was walking around the shop talking to the stylists with no mask. In a pandemic, I don't wanna see ANYBODY in the building not wearing a mask. The CDC says we should stay six feet apart, it doesn't say stop wearing a mask. I arrived a little early - and im glad i did - just in time to see the person whom i later discovered was MY SCHEDULED STYLIST leave for lunch, 12 minutes before my scheduled appt. I mean, she breezed right past me. AND DIDNT COME BACK. Every other stylist had someone in their chair so i figured one of them certainly had to be my stylist...but no. A woman walked over to me and asked me FOR THE THIRD TIME NOW who i was, what i was getting done, and who i had spoken with to make my APPT. *gas face* I re-explained it PLUS requoted the price id gotten and this lady let me know that 1. That lady had just left so I'd have to wait for her to get back from lunch, and 2. That price is wrong because corn rows actually cost $65. We went back and forth for a few minutes until i got frustrated and left. On my way out, one of the stylists asked me to "use the back door, please". Bruh. I flung that front door open so wide as i made my exit, id hoped it would shatter on impact. I got a call from the intended stylist an hour layer asking me where i was and if i was still coming. I hung up on her. She must've spoken with someone then, because she called me right back to apologize for the confusion about the price and asked me if i wanted to come in in 30 minutes. I had been here before and had a great experience. I came back tonight for the first time in awhile and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. The screenshot pic is what I asked for. I talked to who I assume is the owner, told her I want 6-7 jumbo cornrows to the side. She did not ask for a picture but told me how to book so she could get paid. She quoted that it would be $85. Agnes was the braider. I showed her the pic when I got there. I was tired as I came after work so I was not paying attention. BIG MISTAKE! worst customer service ever. I just went up there 8/21/2023 at 7:45am. The open sign was on and the door was unlocked. I walk in trying to purchase a braiding gel and I was told no one was there to check me out so obviously I proceed to ask what time they open and the lady just kept saying no one could check me out and that she had to lock the door so I ask what time should I come back and she said she doesn't know. The braiders were nice and did good work, but they were not as professional or concerned about my hair. I've been going to Nia's at the Norcross location for over 4 years. Normally, I would give the salon 5 stars. However, during my last two visits, I was told at the end of both services that they didn't have any product (mousse, braid spray) to apply to my micro braids. When this happened the first time, I let it go. Things happen, however this time... NO. This is a braiding salon... WHO DOESN'T HAVE PRODUCTS TO COMPLETE THE SERVICE???. It was so unprofessional. AND WHY DID THE STYLIST THINK THAT IT WAS OK??? She barely wanted to cut/shape the hair at the bottom of my braids. I had to come home and finish my hair, with MY OWN PRODUCT. I still need someone to help me shape my braids. This makes no sense, especially when there is a hair store right up the street. SOMEONE from the salon could have run and purchased some products while she was braiding my hair. The stylist could have run to the store and I would have waited. After writing previous review, the owner reached out to me to remedy the situation. She rebraided a couple of the braids in the front that were too tight. Right now, my head feels fine. It has been about 4 days since I first got the braids done, I love them, they look great, they feel great and my head is no longer sore at all. The customer service of this salon is really amazing. They go out of their way to make sure that you are satisfied and genuinely care about your opinion and well-being. The customer service really cannot be compared to. They kept my appointment time, I did not have to wait, and they did not talk on the phone or dilly-dally during my service. I was worried I would be there all day, but was pleasantly surprised after I was out in about 2 1/2 hours. If your priority is gentle braids that are done neatly and quickly by professional, caring people then this is the salon for you. I was very excited about going here to get my hair done. I read the reviews and spoke with the owner, Nia, a few days before I was to get my hair done and felt very comfortable. She was professional and answered my questions. I explained to her that my hair had been in braids and I needed her to comb through it and get a deep conditioner. We agreed on a price, date and time. I explained that I had an important business meeting and could not afford to not have my hair done as we discussed. The morning that I was supposed to go, I called one last time to confirm and let her know I was taking my hair out. She agreed and said she would see me at 4. I took my hair out and then about 2 hours before my appointment she sent me a text and said that "we won't be able to do 4pm...stylist is feeling sick". She left no alternative solutions, since she has put me in a bind (hair out, meeting pending, no back up) I immediately sent her a text and called her. I go no response. I called the shop and she refused to answer. I also Ieft 3 voice mail messages. I understand that the stylist was sick, but wanted to know if there was someone else who could do it, or if she could do it at a different time. After all, I'd called a few days before, then I called back that same day and confirmed! A couple hours later, I called back, got her on the phone and explained to her that I needed to get my hair done that day. Before I could tell her that I'm the potential client that she had before she called me and cancelled, she was trying to see if I could come in THAT SAME DAY. I will NEVER patronize this establishment. I think that since we agreed to simply wash and deep condition my hair, which was only $35, they didn't think it was worth their time. Just like numerous reviewers I have patronized this location on multiple occasions but will NEVER return. The owner Maria serviced my 11-year-old daughter today and was extremely rude to myself, my 4 year old child (was very hateful in her tone towards a toddler) and my daughter as she told her to "get off her phone" and hurt her during the braiding process. Another customer was getting his hair braided and squirming in his seat because it was hurting him. Their claim of "ouchless braiding" is a complete lie! Maria also did not braid my child's hair evenly and it looks horrific. And the gel that they use is flaky just as another reviewer has stated. It looks tacky! When we arrived, she did not greet us and neither she nor the other braider knew of our appointment despite Urbi confirming it just a few hours earlier. Maria seemed bothered that she actually had to braid someone's hair, then proceeded to engage in a conversation with another braider and customer while we waited for her to start our service... after our scheduled appointment time. When I asked if she could start since we rushed there to be respectful of their time as she requests on the website, she got an attitude and that she was "getting to it." She then talked negatively about us to another customer and an employee while we sat in her salon spending money to keep her business going. She bragged to them that she was the owner and I could not get her fired. But what she stupidly failed to realize is the influence of word-of-mouth and social media postings as well formal complaints against her salon. And when I asked to complain, she refused to acknowledge that she was the owner. Maria seems to have a problem with African-American women yet was pleasant to males that came in. She did not understand how to check out customers and wanted to charge me twice for the service when I had already paid online. She took so long to check out another customer that he took a seat and looked frustrated. I did not see any sanitizing of any kind occurring, the owner was not wearing a mask yet standing over clients and I never saw her clean her styling tools before applying them to client heads, which is disgusting and a violation of codes. In addition, after a previous braiding service from her salon a few months ago, my hair fell out while still attached to the braid at least 4 to 5 times while I wore the braids. I have worn braids multiple times and never had this happen until I came to Nia Soule. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR BRAIDED HERE if you value your money, how you are treated and actually keeping your hair attached to your head! And when you book an appointment, they will bother you to move it to another time. They rescheduled my appointment time without asking me. Their website says the last appointment is at 4pm yet if you book that time, they move it to an earlier time. And they are now requiring for the entire service to be paid when you book online. Why would a customer pay before getting serviced? This is a very unethical business practice. It is not surprising that she is embattled in a lawsuit for unpaid rent as she is completely unprofessional on every level. Thankfully I have a wonderful credit card company that reversed the charge after my poor service. While she has recently hired a wonderful customer service associate, it will NOT help her poor behavior. Her attempt to play and sing Christian music while displaying her arrogant ungodly behavior is an epic fail. And she is so focused on trying to sell merchandise that she has pushed the actual braiding area to a small area. Each time that I go more and more merchandise has taken over. The chairs are broken and the air conditioning is nonexistent. I hope that this review helps even one potential customer who was considering this place avoid it. There are tons of other braiding locations within 5 miles of this place and all over metro Atlanta. Their shops are just as nice, if not nicer and their employees are pleasant and their braiding skills are excellent, if not better. Read the previous reviews on Nia Soule. Many are very poor for good reason! Maria has a very ungrateful attitude towards customers, and given that her braiding salon has been fairly empty on my last 2 visits, she should learn to adopt a more thankful appreciation towards customers because we can go elsewhere and will! After living in Atlanta for 9 months, and reading countless yelp reviews, I finally decided to come in and get my hair braided. I called and upon our first phone interaction, I almost decided not to come in. I reached back out and decided to book a 5:30 a.m. appointment for Senegalese twists. I've had my hair braided thousands of times and I was prepared for a 4-5 hour venture. I arrrived at 5:25 and I was taken back around 5:40. I was walking out the door fully finished at 9:12. I have never received such great service. Both ladies working in my hair were sure to ask if it was too tight and took care when twisting my hair. I'm growing out a tapered cut on short natural hair and they had no issues gripping without braiding too tight. I was able to pull them into a pain free ponytail the SAME day. I got my braids done here before and it was excellent but the last time I went, I was a little disappointed. I got Senegalese Twists (like I normally do) and they barely lasted me a month. The last time I got them done, they lasted for 2 and a half months. The customer service was excellent as always and I was done in about 3 and a half hours but I feel like my braids should have lasted much longer. I don't know if I will be returning because $200 is a lot of money to flush down the drain and that is how I felt about these last set of twists I got. read more

This place is great! Clean, comfy, with huge mirrors at every station so you can see your hair. The women are all very sweet but my braider, Mai was the best! Age did my braids just the way I asked with the cutest part and most importantly WITHOUT YANKING MY HAIR! I will definitely be back here for my next protective style. read more

I was very, very impressed by this African Braiding salon. I called to make an appointment and the lady who answered was very helpful and kind. I know that braids can take a long time so I wanted the earliest appointment available which was at 5:30AM. On the day of my appointment, I arrived on time and there was already a lady waiting on me. The salon is spacious, nice, and clean! We chatted a bit about what I wanted, hair color, etc... She started on one section and a second lady arrived to help. Both ladies were pleasant, engaging, and were not all on their cellphones! They finished my box braids in exactly 4 hours! I was elated because I still had to go to work! Awesome.....Second visit was even better than the first. I got Sangalese twists. These ladies are friendly, professional, timely, and do excellent work. Yep, I am now a regular now. I've been looking for a "natural hair & braiding hair" salon that I can frequent from time to time, and I think I've found my place. They aren't the cheapest place I've been, but they aren't the most expensive either. But we all know you get what you pay for. So their work is worth every dollar (& the tip).
