    Blackberry cobbler with ice cream

Visited this restaurant during Covid Marilyn's is right next to a best western off the highway. It was busy but it was the service was good the food was hot and fresh and you could tell that it was made to order. If you get the cobbler with ice cream you might want to consider getting the ice cream on the side. Unfortunately it's a soft serve style ice cream and so it will melt really fast. The ribeye steak was nice and tender and tasted like they've seasoned it with garlic powder which I thoroughly enjoyed. The big potato came with sour cream and butter was already on the table. If you want cheese you're gonna have to ask for that. Soda came in a can which I was fine with. Everything was very good and I would definitely come back again

Very good food and service. The chicken fried steak was homemade and the bacon burger was just as expected! Great diner food!

So...I found this place on yelp and I liked what I saw. I was in the mood for some home cooking and this place fit the bill. The first thing I noticed was an abundance of truckers parked out front which I figured is a good sign cause them boys like to eat. Now my taste buds were singing "East bound and down, loaded up and truckin', We're gonna do what they say can't be done"so I decided to put the pedal to the metal and go all in with a chicken fried steak. That's right. It's a good thing it was covered in gravy cause it was kinda burnt. Not to mention a little on the smallish side. Maybe I should have put on peterbilt hat or something cause I feel a little skimped. It's too late now though. It did come with 2 sides and a salad so I got full but...the mashed potatoes shouldn't be the star of the show. Know what I'm saying. Overall a very solid mediocre meal. 2 1/2 stars ALL DAY LONG.

    Super sexist menu.

Marilyn's is the definition of a greasy spoon. I walked into a panicked scene of one waitress handling every table in the joint. She did it was the grace of a swan and the ferocity of a T-Rex. It was amazing. I seated myself. I patiently waited and watched as each seat was emptied and almost immediately filled until the waitress finally came over. She arrived in a vortex that engulfed just the two of us. She had 101 things to do but in that moment I was her only concern. Her totally focus was on me. I ordered big. Annoyingly big. Hash-browns, omelette, toast, drinks, and another meal; a ribeye sandwich. Don't judge me. I was hungry. She took it all in stride and with a smile. The food took an appropriate amount of time to get to me. When it did it was the perfect fare. The ribeye sandwich was just greasy enough to make me question my life choices that had brought me to this point, but not so much that I didn't devour it. The omelette steamed a delicious smelling cloud in my face. I destroyed everything on that plate. It was great. Look. I don't know you and you don't know me, but, stranger, if you're ever in Mcalester, OK you need to eat at Marilyn's. It's 100% worth it. I mean, unless you hate sexism, then the menu will definitely piss you off.

I'm sure the food is good, but no one was wearing masks. Sorry, but we decided to go elsewhere.

Teeny tiny location. Club sandwich had some strange meats like roast beef? And ham was very fatty. Service slow.

Went with the Grilled Italian Sausage because pasta on top of pasta is just wrong. Grilled perfectly with a char on the ends! Really good flavor and pairs really well with the sketti/rav mixture. Meatballs cooked right with plenty of sauce. Definite leftover but why be greedy and ask for seconds just to take it home. Single person serving was way more than enough. Then again when my waiter brings extra meatballs and ravioli I am in heaven! Thought about dessert which is a toss up between the Cannoli and the Chocolate Devine. Think perhaps the Italian Creme Cake though. Italian Creme Cake to Go

Years ago, the food was amazing all handmade. Our family had been coming here from years ago. Bill preacher gave my uncle his rosary and told him I am not giving this to you. You were to bring it back and that's one of the first things My uncle did when he came back from World War II . Bill and Betty are no longer there and things have changed, of course because time has changed. However, it was wonderful coming back to reminisce with one of my dearest friends that remembers all the old times before the big remodel. As a matter of fact, my uncle was privileged to get to Cook spaghetti with Bill and my uncle taught us how to do it like they did years ago. As far as our visit today there the waitress was very friendly, but she knew nothing about the history of Petes. When we were checked out, it was the same thing. They were very friendly, but they knew nothing about the history of the place, which is a little sad to me. They have a lot of the memorabilia on the walls, but none of their staff we met knew anything about the history. We did have some food we wanted to take to go. They brought us to go containers however, again back in the day they would have packaged it up for us. I wish this new Petes lots of luck and lots of business. I do wish it was back like it was : same old recipes and learn the history because there was great people years ago that founded this place.

I occasionally stop in for classic deli meat sandwiches on sliced bread. Let's be honest, we all know a plain ol' sandwich on light bread is way better when someone else makes it for you. I again had Oliver's Sandwich--it's not on the menu but it's buttered and toasted bread, topped with fried bologna, a perfectly fried egg, benefited by the addition of crisp bacon, then American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and dressed with both mayo and mustard. Like take me back home to the days of my summer youth!! So tasty and perfect for lunch! No sides were needed because its a big sandwich and is incredibly filling. Maybe room for improvement with a slice of cheddar instead of American but it's already so so good as is. TJs also has a menu offering a variety of options like different types of burgers (bacon, Swiss, patty melt, etc), hot sandwiches, a variety of cold sandwiches, and sides like tots or fries. I've before had a couple burgers and they've all been good, it's just this is my go to place for fried bologna sandwiches. The store has lots of drinks, chips, snacks, and hotbox items to choose from to accompany a meal. The ladies behind the kitchen counter are always accommodating and friendly, and they're quick to get the order made and served to the table if eating in. There's half a dozen tables near the cashiers counter that will seat up to 6-8 each. The tables are near windows so you can sit and watch outside too. It's busy, and there's most usually lots of people going in and out, getting fuel or bait. Stop for whatever is needed but if you desire a meal they certainly have worthwhile sandwiches.
