Nick delivered a professional grade Karaoke machine to our event on February 17, 2023. He was there when he said he would be, and the machine worked well. He showed us how to work it, and gave us an option of bringing in karaoke from the internet if it was not in his book. As it turned out, we had people singing in 3 languages besides English: German, Spanish, and Laotian. The best thing about using Nick's machine was the ease of use, and that one person could be the DJ. He brought song request slips as well that were very helpful. He arrived a few minutes early and brought the big rig up the one flight of stairs. He set it up, gave us a run through on how to control it, and then impressed us with a Grade-A karaoke rendition of a Neil Diamond tune. Nick seems to love his job! He also made it very simple for us post-party: he arranged with the management of the venue to come pick it up the next morning so we did not have to be there. I received quotes from several other companies for the same services that were far more expensive and had more limited song lists. This was the worst service I have ever experienced! The delivery arrangements were very rigid and not willing to be flexible, the machine was not programmed properly so many of the songs we chose (most of the current ones) were not available. And when asked to pick up the equipment after the party, the comment was "we have families too, we have to get home at a normal hour". I mean really, what happened to "customer service"? I was the customer, right? The party ended at 10, don't think that's too late. Well, they did come get it, but only after much complaining. They were not pleasant to work with AT ALL!! I'm not being paid to leave this review but the service was so good that even if I was, I wouldn't take the money... Nick's energy was contagious. I drove from Oakland to Burlingame in traffic and once I started talking to him, my stress was instantly gone... Not that that has anything to do with the karaoke rental. I'm getting to that LOL. I met him in the parking lot and we drove around to a different parking lot so that we could transfer the stuff to my car because I chose to do the pickup. There were two speakers, one box which had the equipment in it, the karaoke monitor stand which broke down into three small pieces and didn't take up much space and the monitor. Two microphones, four additional cords and a remote control. I chose to videotape him putting it together so that when I got home I would know exactly what he did. It was the easiest equipment put together I've ever done. The equipment was super simple to use, you just go through the book, pick a song, enter the number and press play. No internet to connect to, no downloading songs, no wait. Even though my entire crew sounded like wounded wolves, we had an incredible time. Originally I was going to drop the equipment back off but I didn't want to make two trips to Burlingame ( I had to go to the airport too and I couldn't fit luggage and equipment in the car) so I texted Nick in the morning and he came and picked it up. Very professional, very quick service. Oh, and the price. I'm still shocked that I got as much equipment and as many songs as I did for $195. Yes, $195. It was incredible and even though none of us can sing I'm looking forward to doing another karaoke party and I will be using the same service. Incredible. I found Nick Foster when searching to rent karaoke equipment for my husband's birthday party. We were super pleased at the high quality of the equipment. It was professional and our karaoke experience was perfect. This is a great deal if you want to really have a quality experience. The only reason I'm not giving him 5 stars is because he charges $150 for delivery of the equipment from Burlingame to Oakland which I think is ridiculous (we were able to enlist a friend to help us get the equipment out of the car). Then at the end of the night, his employees never showed up to collect the equipment. Also before the wedding, his company made several unauthorized charges to our credit card. I'm somewhat torn over this review. I'll just keep it real. Nick is a really nice guy, and gave us a good deal on the equipment. However, I was more than a little bit frustrated at beginning of our wedding. Nick was over an hour late to the venue. We were not able to do any sound checks or run-throughs for our performers, we had to start the event late, causing our guests to wait outside while we scrambled to get everything together. Once we let the guests in, all of the speakers still were not working, and we were still moving equipment and taping down cords. Nick really did work hard to get everything right once he was there, and everything turned out fine. However, you really don't want to start out your wedding panicked and angry. It's frustrating, because had he been even close to on time this review would be way different. read more

i rented a karaoke machine for my mom's 50th birthday, which was really easy through nick. i placed my order and picked it up the day of. he gave me a quick tutorial of how to hook it up and helped me get it into my car. i drive a scion tc and if i can fit all the equipment, anyone should be able to. returning it the following day was easy and the fact that nick was so personable and friendly made the experience that much better. i would definitely use him again! read more

I found Nick Foster via google when looking for a karaoke system for a work event, and it was meant to be, just down the road from us and with a system available on short notice. We got the cheapest tv-included option and it was PLENTY good to entertain us for two days! We weren't quite ready for how legit it would be--we were expecting a little box and a song book, but this was the real deal. I am so upset with my experience, After reading the great reviews I just don't get it. I was expecting Nick to come on Saturday for a party and deliver a karaoke machine. He found my number through Bark which is a company that lists Karaoke machine rental places and I put in a request-He called me, I called him back and we had a great conversation. I was so excited. He said yes to everything - he said that his Saturday was totally open. The delivery time and location would be fine- he would even sing Neil Diamond song for us if I gave him a sweet tip..He talked and talked and talked about how great his business is and seemed to be excited to be working in his business. . . I booked with him. Gave him CC info. Then a few days go by...he calls, doesn't have the CC card right- we fix that. then he can't make the delivery time- he is now booked and can't make the delivery time. I am on a tight schedule so I do not have much wiggle room. So, he says he is going to work on it with other customers (that he booked after he booked with me) to see if he can switch. Never hear from him. I call back, I found another time to possibility for him. So now he has 2 windows. He is going to get back to me- Thursday. Never hear from him. I call today- Friday- Wanted to check in- He thinks I have canceled the service!! He says, "Bark canceled it" I am like what??? I never canceled anything. Then he says that's why he doesn't like to work with BArk! Whatever, not my concern- if you don't understand what Bark is then do not work with them!! He should have called me and he should have been straight from the beginning. Literally, every time I spoke with him, the story changes- whether it was his availability and then he started complaining about traffic to my location and on and on. He just didn't want to do the job. I am so disappointed He has left me in a lurch. He was flakey and inconsistent. I am very upset. read more

It's the fourth year in a row that I rent a karaoke machine from Nick Foster for my birthday. SOOO much fun!! Anyway, fun facts aside, the first two years I rented the basic one, and the last two the SuperStar one. With this one, you enter the song numbers digitally, as opposed to loading CDs. It makes a huge difference. Nick dropped it off as well the last two years, and it was also great because he made sure everything was installed perfectly. Same when he picked it up. He left in the middle of the event without telling us. No, really. I am going to write this as best as I can to be a factual recount of what happened and not how I feel about it. You can be the judge. We hired Nick to be the DJ for our marriage-renewal party at an event venue on the coast. He arrived on-time and set up. When our ceremony was over, he played approx. 30 minutes of music while our guests mingled. We stopped the music to make announcements and toasts, and when it was time to begin the music for the dancing, Nick was nowhere to be found. We looked all over the property for him and started to get worried. Then one of our catering staff told us that he left to go to another gig further down the coast. We called the phone number that was on the equipment that he left in the room, and he explained to us that there was a problem at the other gig and he hoped to be back soon. We explained to him that he now had a problem at this gig, as well. He directed us to his equipment and said that anyone can punch in the music on Spotify. After questioning him about whether the bride, groom, or a guest was now to be in charge of being the DJ, he said he would explain over the phone to whomever it might be how to use his computer. A generous guest of ours reluctantly accepted the responsibility (as we otherwise had no music for dancing at the party), and Nick told him how to call up songs. There was no pre-programmed playlist, just a database of music on Spotify. He returned to our party half an hour before it ended. When it was over, he was apologetic and said he really had to be at the other event because of the problems there. We told him he only worked for an hour total, so that was all we intended to pay him for. We had prepaid, and he sent us a check for the balance within a few weeks. read more

I hired Nick for my wedding reception, a small, cozy affair. In the process of setting up his karaoke system, he unplugged the amp and mic setup we had going for a friend who was going to perform for us. It took forever to fix. Added to that, during setup he made some snide comments about us not purchasing the upgraded option (there was really no need in our situation). I was disappointed overall. Zero stars if i could. Incompetent., unprofessional. This company supplied speakers for our outdoor wedding event. When my husband called to order/book, he immediately liked Nick, said he sounded professional. We were excited that he could come all the way out to Lafayette, in the East Bay, on our wedding day. Problem #1: The day we ordered the speakers, the charge appeared on our credit card immediately, but it was $100 more than he quoted us. We called him that day, and he said he would be able to refund us in 1 week, when his bookkeeper came in. Not that big of a deal yet... Problem#2: Nick said he could arrive at our wedding venue at 1pm on our wedding day, but didn't actually arrive until around 4:30 (our wedding ceremony was supposed to start at 5pm). We needed the speakers for the ceremony! Problem#3: He didn't come with enough microphone cable. We requested around 150-200 feet when we made the order, but he was short. Problem #3: Nick told us he would pick up the equipment that evening, but didn't show up until the next day. Problem #4: That $100 he overcharged us, wasn't refunded. It wasn't until 2 weeks after the wedding that we got an email saying the money was being sent in the form of a money order. One week after that email, the check still hadn't arrived, so I called him and he was nonchalant about it, saying "you don't understand how a small business runs, it's not that easy, things don't happen that fast." I gave him a piece of my mind on the phone, and the next day, suddenly, our check appears! Yea, must have been real hard to make a refund after all. We'll see if the check is any good. read more

He was so flexible with the fact that we had to hold on to our karaoke rental over the weekend because we were not having a local wedding, and didn't raise the rate at all, which was completely astonishing. He even didn't bat an eye when we asked him if we could return it a day late (our trip back was delayed). What's great is Nick Foster actually works at Nick Foster Entertainment. It's just not a big name and no face. And he's great! Very charming. Very helpful. I don't think I have ever heard "NO" come out of his mouth. Easy going and will answer any questions you have. This is the 2nd time I have rented Karaoke equipment from him. Everything is easy to use. A lot of songs. Everything I reserved is there. They even help me pack everything into my car. Oh and I love his shop. It's got A LOT of musical equipment and it looks like a stage w/ curtains. And his waiting room is nicely kept and decorated like an entertainer's dressing room. Hey, did I tell you he was an entertainer too and I think a famous one too. At least that's what I think he told me, the first time I ever rented from him. I just remembered feeling bad, cause I've never heard of him. But he still DJ's and entertains as well. That's if you don't want to rent Karaoke systems. Nick Foster is AWESOME! We had a Karaoke Event for a fund raiser. the organizers of the event are serious Karaoke singers. Like semi professional. The further into the evening we go (and the more drinks consumed) the more intense the songs get. Nick set up his equipment which was top notch. Everything was modern and top of the line. He was tucked away as no not encroach on the event, however he encouraged people to sing as they interest piqued and they feverishly looked through the song book for a song they recognized. Dont worry folks, his song list is immense! Even for 90 rapper wanna be's like me, he had ice ice baby and OPP (by Naughty by Nature). Im glad he had that because the last rock song I know is Living on a Prayer! Even as the evening grew into the night, he became the main event and help sing along with some parts that he knew were difficult. This summer I worked for a high school medical program at Stanford University. Our program is completely run by grants and is free to our amazing participants, which means we run on a tight budget. We wanted to have a talent show for the students and I looked at several places to rent a karaoke machine at a reasonable price. Nick Foster Entertainment had a good price for the Budget Karaoke rental so I called them up. Mr. Foster was very helpful and took the time to explain everything that the package included so that I was aware of what I was purchasing. He told me that the Budget rental may not be the best option for high school students simply because of the smaller song selection and lack of newer songs. However, I couldn't afford anything more than that so we agreed to stay with the Budget rental. The morning I picked up the system Mr. Foster was extremely helpful, he explained very well how to use the system and much to my delight (and surprise) he decided to give me the 10,000+ song library that included the newer songs at no additional cost!
