I may be a Yelper from Philly who happened to be staying in Woburn, but I also spent the better part of 10 years in Boston, and I know what a good North Shore roast beef sandwich is. I had a hankering for one in my most recent trip. I found this place and put in an order for one along with pizza and salad for my family. This is an excellent roast beef sandwich. The beef was perfectly tender and juicy. The roll was soft and the sauce had just enough bite to it. I devoured it happily. My wife loved her Greek salad with chicken. She said there wasn't a dry piece of chicken on it. The boy ate the pizza and didn't complain. Score. Plus, the guy at the counter greeted me like I was a long time customer. One star. I was shocked and disgusted during my visit. While waiting for my order, I saw a rat behind the fridge near the drink coolers. That is an unacceptable health hazard. Woburn is full of these types of pizza/sub combination places, and that's ok! Each brings its own unique dishes at times, plus they all compete for your business with competitive pricing on those offerings which are shared. You better be good at what you do or you won't survive in this cutthroat food genre. Nick's replaces an outgoing pizza spot and redesigned the entire interior. It was very inviting, well lit and the setup looks very nice overall. As you walk in, you're met with a very bright television menu, in fact there are about six of them. Along the wall you can choose from an array of take out drinks and local potato chips. There are plenty of small tables and a bar full of stools for those that decide to quickly eat in. Service at the counter is extremely friendly and helpful. When I asked for a substitution, it was immediately met with a "yes" without hesitation. My order was out in maybe 10 minutes, if that. Foot traffic as well as phone calls were very heavy the weeknight I was in there for the first time. I ordered the super pastrami which was absolutely loaded with meat, albeit a tiny bit greasy which can be expected. Good value overall for what you get from this sandwich am I'm glad I chose it for my first visit. The onion rings were my biggest disappointment, very greasy, stuck together and rather flavorless. I prefer the big crunchy rings, not this style. We tried our son's slice of greek style pizza, very crispy and well-done if you enjoy that style. Overall, I was very impressed and happy to see they are executing well on all cylinders. Let's hope Nick's has a 50 year history in front of it. read more

Ordered a Super Beef , chicken salad club, and a large Buffalo chicken tender calzone. Super Beef: Onion roll was delicious Lots of beef but the beef itself was missing salt and depth of flavor in general. Ate half the sammy before adding a little salt and it was much better. Overall "good not great". 6/10. The sammy was $8.75, I told my wife if it was $6 I'd probably get lunch here everyday. Chicken salad club: Chicken salad was the shredded chicken and heavy Mayo type. Needed WAY more seasoning. Ground pepper? Parsley or oregano? Celery? The bacon (and a lot of it!) did the talking for the whole sammy. Buffalo Chicken Tender Calzone. Was VERY cheesy. Chicken tenders were cut up small, I think it could have used a little more Buffalo sauce but the wife thought it was fine as is. Cheese was good, very crispy, caramelized top. Crispy bottom was a HUGE plus for me. Overall I think too much cheese for the amount of chicken in it. I say that daringly, as I love cheese, but it was like a one slice and DONE it was so heavy. I'd love more chicken and not necessarily less cheese! Also the filling came right up to the edge of the crust without much of a doughy crust, which to me is a positive! The blue cheese we got on the side was really bad. I don't know where they get it from but it had a really off putting taste like I had motor oil on the hand I was eating with. Not good at all, I just avoided it after one bite. Overall this place was decent. Deserving of 3 but not 4 stars. The positives were the crunchy crispy calzone, the delicious bun, and kind workers. The eating area was spacious and clean and had barstool window seating. The drawbacks were the lack of seasoning on the chicken salad and roast beef, and the inedible blue cheese. read more

My wife recently ordered a pizza online for pickup at a specific time. Ordering online there is an option to give a tip. We're 20% tippers at a sit down but balk at tipping such as this for the obvious reasons. My wife said that she unchecked the tip but it ended up on the bill anyway. Perhaps she made a mistake. But the kick in the balls is that they then charge an additional tax on the tip. I got there 5 minutes before it was to be ready and it sat there on a table. No heat under it. Got it home and, while the pizza was tasty after a hit in the microwave, it was COLD. read more

Something has happened, but the pizza quality has gone down. I ordered via the phone and they always claim the prices are different. Toppings cannot be subbed (take that for a small business...) or were not allowed to be subbed in my case. Sandwich price on the paper menu and bill was different. Some kind of "cash upcharge" was added to my bill (apparently because I paid by credit card?). It did not seem like a legit charge. If you eat there, make sure you know what the prices are. So I stopped in and ordered a junior, light sauce, cheese and mayo. The girl behind the counter (bigger girl, loud, corn rows) feels the need to correct the way I ordered my lunch "you mean a 3-way, light sauce?" With eyeballs indicating I'm some kind of moron because I didn't use the proper roast beef lingo. Okay, so the he sandwich comes to $8.34. (Holy crap I'm getting old, I remember a junior at Bill & Bob's being 3 bucks! Price is not at all my complaint, though) I give her $9. This next part took me by surprise. She actually ASKED me if I wanted my $.66 back!! Who in the retail, change-giving world asks someone if they want their change? 8y waiting tables in my 20's. Not once. You would be fired on the spot for asking for tips. Now, at this point, I'm literally beside myself with her ignorance, as I'm waiting for my sangwich. Sadly, it gets worse. Much worse. She gets a phone order and turns around and proceeds to speak to the guys behind the counter like shit. Sorry, but like shit. Waving the paper at them and asking if they understand the words coming out of her mouth. Talking to them like one would talk to their three year old or their dog. Or like someone who is racist would talk to someone they didn't think spoke English. "All you have to do is make the food. SEVEN DIFFERENT PEOPLE!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!?!" I felt bad for the poor bastard behind the counter who I made eye contact with. Now, I have zero information on any employees. She may have been joking with them. THEY made have known she was joking with them. Maybe YOU were one of them, I don't know. But that doesn't matter. It matters how it looks to the customer. I had high hopes when I tried Nick's for the first time last week. The inside had a major makeover. It used to be called "Between Us", owned by an old Greek couple for many years. I wrote a review of it on here awhile back. The building was probably from the early 20's or 30's judging by the old tin ceiling and wiring, no ambience to speak of, basically 1960 style décor, but the food they served was always superb. From Gyros to family size buckets of fried chicken, Greek style pizza, cold and hot subs, always fresh and tasty and always toasted to perfection. I was sad when they retired and sold it and went back to Greece. It was then one of those cliché thin crust pizza establishments for a few years before they finally went out of business. I never bothered to try it, since I'm not a fan of paper thin crunchy cracker like pizza. Pay twice as much for less pizza? Yeh, no. Somebody else wrote a review on here about this new pizza/sub shop and how Woburn was already over saturated with them, which, it is, but I had high hopes when I tried Nick's for the first time last week. The inside had a major makeover, the only thing I recognized was the old tin Art Deco ceiling which was now painted pitch black from the eggshell color it used to be. (Think Cambridge MA. and the hipster eateries around there, that's what it looks like.) Okay, it looks busy, lots of cooks and counter service, a few customers, a good sign. I ordered a steak & cheese sub, "Extra toasted please!" Plus a side of chicken fingers. I didn't wait too long, the usual. I would have gladly waited longer for better food though. Got to work, opened up my lunch, the sub, with the fingers for later for dinner. Soggy wilted sub roll, not toasted at all, grey gristle chewy steak. I may be wrong, but should shaved steak be the consistency of that of pastrami? Fatty, rubber like and stringy? No, I'm not wrong. The meat tasted like it was about to expire, like when you finally get around to cooking that forgotten steak in the back of the fridge which is now turning a greyish brown. The roll? Well let me give you a steak & cheese tutorial. Layer the cheese on the inside of the fresh baked opened roll, then toast it in the oven until it starts to turn a little black around the edges of the cheese and bread, remove. Spatula the lean, half blackened shaved steak you just grilled onto the cheese laden roll. Now you have the perfect sub, the cheese acts as a barrier so the roll doesn't get soggy, and the crispy steak isn't oozing grease into the bread. (Andrea's Pizza, the best around, in Winchester makes it exactly this way. EVERYONE should make it that way.) Nick's melts the cheese into the under cooked rubber toy like steak and then fills the barely toasted enough roll with it. Voila! A gooey oily limp floppy mushy sub. The chicken fingers...also not cooked enough. The breading was falling off them. Another cooking lesson from your favorite Yelper, fry them until golden brown, not an opaque light brown. (What doesn't sound quite as appetizing as "golden brown?" Mmmm!) Then, let them rest for a few minutes so some oil drains out and they start to become hard and crispy. THEN, box them up and serve. I added a photo of this horror meal of both. I'm only giving one star since I have no intention of trying out the rest of the menu if it's as badly cooked and prepared as my two items were. I swear, I should open up my own place, then I wouldn't have to come on here anymore to save you people money. read more

Before you order, take a minute to go through the reviews and notice the stars have gone down over the past few months. New management. The food I used to get is now lower quality and costs more, but the worst part is the way the employees speak to you on the phone. I called asking about the change in the sandwich I had been getting for months. It is now very spicy, and it does not reflect that on the menu. I was called a liar, and told there was "nothing we can do if you don't like what you order". Nicks is new and definitely worth a visit. I've order a handful of times from them already and I haven't been disappointed yet! The Greek and garden salads are fantastic. Plenty of fresh cut vegetables and A WHOLE FRESH PITA to boot! Who does that anymore?!?!? Spring for their chicken, they practically throw a whole bird on there. Sandwiches are good too. Their rolls are always fresh and wraps are wrapped perfectly! I tried the Buffalo wrap, no leakage! Nothing more irritating than to bite in a wrap and have its contents fall right out the other end. Pizza is Greek style, ingredients are good. Not overly greasy, and I haven't received a bad slice yet. Woburn has many lunch options, especially in this area. Despite the fact there are a ton of pizza places in Woburn, it can be hard to find decent pizza. Nick's is very decent pizza. The few varieties we have tried so far have been good. Salads are fresh and have lots of ingredients. Chicken Wings are very average - fried well, but over breaded. Having said all that, I look forward to trying some of their other menu items, like the long list of subs and wraps. Service is AWESOME. Very friendly crew and food is always ready FAST. read more

have ordered a few times from here . both times i got delivery they call to say they're lost . this past time i ordered a steak tip rice bowl and they sent chicken . i called to say i ordered steak tips and they argued with me saying no i ordered chicken. the phone was then handed to someone else and she was very nice on the phone but you can hear in the background the other one running their mouth adamant i ordered the chicken when i know for a fact i did not. they said they can send me a side of steak tips and i can just pick off the chicken myself. will absolutely never return and don't recommend . read more

I walked in and read the menu board, decided on an antipasto salad. Clearly stated 10.95 on the menu board. When the cashier handed me my receipt it said 14.95 so I questioned it. she said "oh ya those prices aren't right, the prices in the computer are right". I said well you've got to change that bc I can't see what's in your computer. she said "yup, talk to the big guy" and pointed to the guy making my salad. he acknowledged me and smiled. I was waiting for him to say something but he didn't. I then picked up a paper menu while waiting. once again clearly stated $10.96 for an antipasto. if you're going to raise your prices, make it very clear to your patrons. a simple sign "salads have increased by xx%" but nothing. $4 is a lot to go up on a $10.95 item. with that said, the salad was good and fresh but not worth $14.95 in my opinion. their roast beef sandwiches are very good but not sure if I'll ever return due to the sneakiness of price increases without any visible written notice. read more
