It's actually California law that gas stations are required to provide free gas and water when you buy gasoline. On the rare occasions I've tried to ask for either in the LA area, the gas station attendant acts like I might as well be asking for the earth and the moon. Then midway through they'll shut it off, so I'll have to go back, they'll begrudgingly turn it on again, and I'll have to go back to my car and so on and so forth... With the employees here, it's completely the opposite! Because I wanted to use Apple Pay inside they let me fill up my tank first and then allowed me to pay for it later. Imagine doing that in LA! When I asked about air, one of the mechanics actually checked each of my tires for me and even went underneath the car to grab a valve-cap that I had dropped. And they waved us goodbye and thanked us for coming! No, thank YOU!! This station deserves ALL the Mobil awards! PS. The gas was cheaper than the other stations in the area!

Then it was taken over by the current owner, who somehow managed to fire the entire experienced crew-some with decades here-and replace them with people who can't do half the work this place advertises. Basic services that were once routine are now apparently "not something we do," which is an interesting business model for a service bay. The new staff seem confused, undertrained, and completely out of their depth. It takes real talent to ruin a business this thoroughly, but here we are. If you're remembering how good this place used to be, save yourself the disappointment. That version is long gone.

After a quick stop at the DMV to register my son's 2013 Mercedes, we set out to find a facility for…read morea smog test. I didn't realize we needed a STAR station and initially went to a mechanic I've trusted for four years. After about 30 minutes of trying, he realized he couldn't perform the smog test. My girlfriend suggested heading to a place on 6th and Spring, saying she'd been there before. We drove over, and after a short wait, we met Matt, who was busy with another customer. When he greeted us, he explained there were two cars ahead, so we decided to wait. The total time spent was about 40 minutes, and Matt was fantastic--personable, knowledgeable, and professional. He answered all my questions about the smog process and took the time to chat when he learned my son was joining the Marines. To my surprise, he offered a military discount as a gesture of gratitude for my son's service, which I thought was awesome. Would I go back? Absolutely! I think I've found my new go-to mechanic.
