Second time coming to Nick the Greek, and it's been a great experience both times. The first visit, I only tried the Dubai chocolate, and my wife absolutely loved it. I thought it was great too, so we had to come back. This time we came for dinner. My wife ordered the chicken souvlaki pita, and I got the beef and lamb combo. The food was flavorful, the fries were nice and crispy, and everything came out fresh. On top of that, the service was friendly and attentive. Well Nick my boy, this is the start of a beautiful friendship. Found this place using yelp, then saw a sign asking customers to leave a yelp or google review, but I've seen Nick the Greeks in various locations including Thousand Oaks. I never thought to try it, as I don't typically like Greek food, but then I saw the yelp pictures. What caught my eye was the gyro with French fries in it. I thought "California burrito goes Greek" but it's a completely different flavor profile. The gyro doesn't leave you overly full but still satisfies your hunger. It could use more fries and more zing, maybe a little Cajun spice to the fries. The meat is thinly cut and freshly cooked. The tomato gives the whole thing a fresh taste. Definitely get the steak bowl! Meats were well marinated and tender with soft rices and fresh vegetables! I ate here a couple time and they're consistent with the taste. The gyro meat was quite different from what I usually see. It was sliced into very thin, scattered pieces, and most pieces were only about the size of a quarter. Because of that, the portion felt smaller and less satisfying. Overall, the best part of the plate was actually the salad. If this plate were around $12 after tax, I would say the value is reasonable. But at $18.50 after tax, the taste, quality, and portion size all feel a bit underwhelming for the price. read more
