Nick The Greek in Pinole surely have plenty of people calling in their orders for pick up. If I was to dine inside I would had been the only person eating. I have to say that the Pinole location is different from Concord. What I first notice about Pinole location is that there is a restroom compare to Concord. When I have dine inside the Concord location I would have to go outside to use the public restroom in The Veranda. The Pinole location saves me from using the restroom at Trader Joe. We had a chance to talk with Sam, the sister of the owner, who was really sweet and very knowledgeable about both the restaurant and the menu. We ordered the combination souvlaki plate, which came with steak and chicken skewers, yellow rice, Greek salad, diced tomatoes and cucumbers, and tzatziki sauce on the side. The kebabs were well cooked and flavorful, and the rice was tender. Portions are generous -- we ended up sharing the plate. The Greek salad had a nice tangy flavor with feta, olives, tomatoes, red onions, and lettuce, which balanced well with the rest of the meal. Parking can be a little hectic, so plan ahead. The cashier informs that the Gyro with lamb only comes with lamb and beef together. I agreed to the Lamb\Beef. I'll just seperate the lamb and beef at my table. The two items plus a Coke was $30.87. Not bad. The inside of the restaurant was a little hectic with two thirds of the tables seated with to-go food people. There is a man running back and fourth hectically, wearing jeans and an older T-shirt and a backwards baseball cap. I wonder if he works here? Our food is brought to us by the T-shirt man. Apparently he works here. He is hard working and very friendly but in my opinion he shouldnt be working in food service dressed as I dressed while working farm labor. My Wife digs into her Falafel with gusto. She says it tasts OK. I'm impressed with the size and weight of my Gyro. The sandwich is too wide for my mouth so I pull some meat out with my fork. Hum. I can't tell if this bite is beef or lamb? The texture is a little off as well. Sort of a processed food texture like faux bacon maybe or like well done fried spam? I eat further in through tomatoes and a few French fries and more meat. My wife won't eat lamb but wants a taste of my beef. We don't know what slice of meat is what so she goes without. Nicks just recently opened in Pinole and because of my absolute love of Greek food I had to check it out. The people working the counter and the cooks are very friendly and accommodating to changes. They really seem like they enjoy their spot in this place. The restaurant seating area and kitchen look very clean and organized. I had the chicken souvlaki pita and the Nicks French fries. and my wife had the hummus and pita with the yummy froyo as a treat. It was hot and delicious. Well, I think I'm being generous giving it a three star. I usually like this chain, but my experience at this location was very lacking. The counter help didn't really want to be bothered with actually helping. The food, although the portions are decent, the meat was way overcooked. The rice was so dry. I literally couldn't choke it down. I asked them if I could get some sauce or something to put on the rice so that I could actually eat it to which they tried to get me to buy some sauce for a dollar but since I had already paid $20 for very overcooked food, I'm not inclined to add more money just to make an edible so he looks to say pretty disappointed with this visit. read more

It maybe a fusion type of the authentic kebob in the area but it will suffice the hunger. The service is pretty similar to a fast food chain. Pita was toasty, fluffy and fresh, meat and sauces were flavorful, veggies were fresh. Service was also very friendly. Ambiance is small but there are enough tables to dine in. This was a bad experience at Nick the Greek. It was our first time here and I was excited to try their limited edition chocolate shell froyo. My husband got the froyo with honey and baklava. Any topping is a dollar extra so our two froyos were $14. The owner made our froyo and it took about 20 minutes. We sat there waiting because the froyo machine was not ready. She also explained to me that there's something wrong with the temperature and the chocolate wasn't covering my froyo. What I got look like a bird pooped on my froyo. Instead of a hard chocolate shell, I got messy clumps everywhere that made it hard to eat. It was like eating a hard chocolate bar and trying to eat froyo at the same time. Not to mention that it was aesthetically hard on eye that it made it very unappetizing. We also ordered a side of falafels to go. This place is not cheap as two froyos and one side of falafels were over $20. It was a very long wait. As I was leaving, the owner gave me a handwritten coupon to come back for a free froyo explaining that it was not supposed to be like that. She gave me a small sample of how it was supposed to taste like. I wish my froyo tasted like the sample but unfortunately I spent half an hour waiting for a misshapen froyo. :( read more

First off, great food! Now a little more detailed... Nick The Greek is located in the shopping center near Trader Joe's and next to Chipotle. There's plenty of parking but this is a rough parking lot with the Trader Joe's being there. You'll find parking but the traffic flow is rough with the lights. This spot is small and has a few tables and seats inside. You order at the counter and food will be brought to you or you can order for takeout. Great prices for really tasty and fresh tasting food! We ordered the pork belly gyro pita and the beef/lamb pita. The meat was full of flavor and the fresh veggies allowed for a great flavor combo along with the tzatziki sauce! They put plenty of sauce on there which made this sauce girlie happy! Plus a couple of fries are throw into the mix and it adds for a happy bite. Give this place a try! read more

We were very happy to finally have Nick the Greek closer to us, but I was a little disappointed. The meats were good: pork and chicken were all juicy and tasty but the lamb was a bit lacking in flavor. The rice was really dry. The gyro plate definitely seem more worth it than a salad. The Greek salad entree didn't really have much veggies in it, about the same amount of veggie as the side salad! And also the Greek salad was over dressed and drenched in sauce on the bottom. If I go again I would only get the gyros and the gyro plates, those seem like better deals. Service was fine. Restaurant was clean. Bathroom was clean. Easy parking in the shopping center except during dinner time. On a side note, their catering seems to be pretty good.
