The glass enterance door is a bit greasy and my wife is being fussy. I hope this place works out. She had wanted a Chinese lunch but I need salad. I've been jonesing for a Cobb salad since the last California Pizza Kitchen closed in Walnut Creek. There are several cosy tables to sit at. The kitchen area is bustling with young 20 somethings taking and preparing orders. After we ordered my salad and her French dip, I walked toward the back to pay a fellow old timer working as cashier. Pro tips; 1.Get your own soda from the fridge in the back. They don't serve it to you. 2.They don't have ice. 3.Tell em tap water or you will pay a buck and two bits for bottled. 4.You may have to wrestle them for a straw. 5. The receipt is not itemized and there is a ADMIN FEE of $1.45 added if you borrowed on credit to pay them. The salad was large and plentiful. I asked for bacon (expecting bits) on it and they charged me for and gave me a handful of strips. . In the end my wife had to finish off the blue cheese as I was stuffed. Better than CPK. Wife said the French dip was "ok". I tasted it and liked it. I told you she was being fussy. She packed our leftovers as I defended our French dip sauce from the House fly. Flies make her fussy. Just noticed, I've been coming here since I started at BR in Richmond, (iykyk)...and that was almost 17 years ago!! Got the Mediterranean Burger yesterday via Door Dash (YAY) and it's still as perfect as ever. The patty is like a giant flavorful falafel! I recently went back to The New Deli because I was craving a chicken caesar salad sandwich. When I saw the options on the menu I decided to go for a full caesar salad with added chicken (for $1) and my trusted chipotle chicken sandwich that I knew was going to be good from previous experiences. This was the BEST caesar salad I've ever had and now every caesar salad I ever have after this one will be compared to The New Deli's. There were big chunks of chicken, fresh lettuce and parmesan and the dressing was the perfect combination of smokey and flavorful. I would definitely recommend The New Deli overall as I've never had anything bad there, but I would especially recommend the caesar/chicken caesar salad. Been coming to the new deli since 2016 and to this day the Turkey Muenster melt is the best sandwich I've ever had. This spots a hidden gem, the owner is always working along side his employees and you can tell that he treats them all well. I love the subtle Christian decor and music that is usually playing in there. It makes the place feel authentic and not like it's trying to be something that it isn't. WOW- I just had the best experience (service and taste-wise) from this extraordinary mom and pop deli in Pinole! As a new Hercules resident, I've been taste-testing different food spots and am so happy to have found my favorite neighborhood sandwich shop. First off, kudos to the sweet lady who thoroughly and patiently explained the menu items, especially confirming the vegan options for my SO and recommending some tasty choices for me. So happy there are vegan options here! The deli has been around since 1985 and is super cute- fresh flowers on the round tables, a homey and welcoming vibe, and friendly staff who were busy making delicious sandwiches, salads, sauces, soups from scratch. As I waited for my food and took photos, one of the ladies told me to take a menu and a free cookbook made by one of the owners. These people are amazing! Their website also gives a spiel about how the deli started and shares mouth-watering recipes. There's more- the FOOD was SO fresh and delicious! I couldn't help tasting everyone's meal. -Large Garden salad - plentiful and fresh-tasting with a tangy balsamic vinaigrette -Turkey Muenster sandwich (my order) - Love at first bite! I ordered sandwiches here for pick up. For myself, I ordered a sourdough roll with turkey and salami, sprouts, tomatoes, mustard and pickles. They asked me if I wanted half and half. I didn't quite know what the person on the phone meant, but I didn't want hella meat to overcome my bread, so I said ok to the half and half. I loved my sandwich though it would have been amazing with mayo and a little more meat. Next time, I'm saying no on the half and half and yes to mayo. Not sure how new, "new deli" is but they make some really darn good sandwiches. While in Pinole, I heard good things about this place. It is located in a strip mall next to a $.99 cent store. Average sandwich costs around $7-10. I ordered the Turkey and Muenster. It was a winning duo. It was warm, melty with lots of fresh veggies including romaine, tomatoes, red onions, and alfalfa sprouts. There is a few tables inside but be forewarned that it gets busy and seating might be limited. It is a very popular place and now I know why. This deli continues to provide consistency to great and simple food offerings. We ordered the Italian medley, I love the eggplant and avocado. I'm not sure if they make their own dressing but it's delicious. Roast beef special was so simple and delicious. The light horseradish spread gives it the right amount of kick. Hair In Salad - Unacceptable! I Came to New Deli to purchase a tossed salad and when I immediately opened the salad, There was a huge piece of long hair strand in my salad. I'm disappointed this has happened but more upset of how management(TOM) handled it, No refund was offered nor an apology. The cooks don't wear gloves or hair nets when preparing food at all. Which I'm sure is against food and safety code.
