This spot has all the energy, busyness, and no-frills attitude of a true New York bagel spot...with the benefit of a large, free parking lot. And thank goodness for that, because there was already a messy line in the foyer area on a Sunday morning. If that worries you, know that the guys behind the counter know how to work a crowd. Find a spot to stand and wait to catch the eye of one of these guys shouting, "Next! Who's next?!" It's a little hectic, but I feel it made me all the more excited to get to my car and chow down. As someone who was raised by city bagels, I'm usually poised to disdain any other bagel, but this place holds its own. During my short visit, I watched several fresh batches of steaming hot, fresh bagels being poured into the baskets...and then quickly depleting as the weekend crowds ordered them by the dozens. I got a toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese, and it was just perfect. Strong sesame seed coverage, with a light, crispy exterior and beautiful chew on the inside. AND - most importantly - the right amount of schmear. I've seen some reviews knock a star or two because this place doesn't offer breakfast sandwich options, but I imagine adding those to the menu would just slow service down immensely. If you're someone who's not hot on the cream cheese, there's also a variety of spreads, like tuna salad and lox. Some other random details: This looks like an old school joint in every way, but they accept both cash and credit card. There's no seating inside, so plan to either eat in your car or rush home. Finally made it to this bagel place which was in my list since so long and it was so worth it!!! I have heard local people raving about Teaneck Hot Bagels and yes it did live upto all the hype. The place is family owned and you can see them making fresh bagels in the back. We went with everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and other one with vegetable garlic cream cheese - both were pretty amazing! The bagel is soft inside and crispy outside. While the bagels were pretty good I was really disappointed that they didn't have a grill.. travelled to nj /ny/ pa to see family and stayed in Teaneck (not my original hometown) but got bagels b4 we left for pa. I do not understand what the rage is all about. I was here this morning, Monday the15th at 7:45 am. First of all please note that they do not have a grill so no TECTESPK. AKA - A Taylor Egg and Cheese on a toasted everything, salt pepper ketchup. Such a let down as it is my go-to order at a bagel shop. I ended up getting an everything bagel with plain cream cheese. The bagel's consistency was not right. A bagel should be crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The bagel tasted rock hard exterior and needed to refill my yeti to get it down. This is my first time visiting this bagel shop, it's 6:30 a.m. It wasn't very busy when I arrived. A lady asked what I was getting. I said, "I'm getting BEC on a plain bagel." She prepared it fast, less than 5 minutes. Am I going to return to this shop? - No Should you try their bagel? - Yes, the ingredients were fresh, the tuna spread tastes good too. Lesson: You may have the best bagel in NJ, but how you treat your customer still matters. Recommendations: A little touch of smile when you greet your customer. The bagel was soft and pillowy with slight chew, though not as much as a NY Bagel. Stopped by Teaneck Road Hot Bagels around 7:30 AM, and the place was bustling with people coming and going--always a good sign! I ordered a lox sandwich with capers, onions, and cream cheese on an everything bagel, and it was so good. The bagels have that perfect crisp exterior with a dense, soft inside--exactly how a bagel should be. I do wish we had asked for it toasted, though, as that would've taken it to the next level. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating, even with the morning rush, which made the experience even better. They have a great variety of bagels, and we picked up a dozen for about $15, which felt like a solid deal. We had them for breakfast the next morning, toasted this time, and they were definitely even better. Why mess with perfection when it's freshly made, and one bite is not the rule... not with this carb masterpiece! Why I did not give it a full 5 star is based solely on my opinion... --No bagel sandwiches (cold or hot). No eggs and no deli meats... just spreads and fish (tuna, white, salmon lox). --Each bagel is not made equally. Consistency is key when crafting one of these bad boys, and if they are not equal in size, shape or toppings then I feel cheated. --The tuna sandwich I also got was quite tasty with a nice soft roll, BUT, they did not have shredded lettuce or other condiments other than lettuce, tomatoes (extra fee) and onions for this sandwich... I like my tuna sandwich with: shredded lettuce, onions, hot peppers and oil & vinegar- in which they did not have. Other than that, fresh made bagels round the clock with a selection of spreads and plenty of staff to assist makes this a great spot. You won't be disappointed if you are looking for a legit bagel. I read this place was on the top of a few Best Bagel lists and they were exactly right. Heard ts is one of the few places that still "hand rolls" its bagels. Whatever they are doing is on the money. First... this is a bagel store. Not a luncheonette. Not a grill. There is NO grill. Go there for some great bagels. Great assortment spreads. Various cream cheeses ( the lox spread is the best!), butter, jelly, etc. But NO taylor ham, bacon or sausage. Just perfectly made crusty on the outside, chewy on the inside bagels. Plenty of hot\cold beverages. Parking lot on the side. note: if you walk in and it looks like a huge crowd, do not worry. Third time here and I don't get the love people have for this place. Staff is super friendly, bags are ok, and nothing in the cold case is labeled so it's a guessing game. If you like a soft chewy bagel, this is your place. If you like a crunch with the outside of your bagel, this isn't your place. But I guess my biggest issue is where's the scallions?! Bagels, oh have I missed thee. In the 30 years I have been away from the tristate area, I have never found bagels that compared favorably with those in Ny/NJ. When I found myself in Teaneck, home of the number one rated bagel shop in New Jersey, i traversed the 2 miles from the hotel uphill both ways (jk - I took a rideshare) and grabbed two dozen of these perfectly prepared delights. One of my favorite local bagel spots! Miss their bagels even after I moved from the area. The bagels are the perfect size with right ratio of gluten fluffiness on the inside with crunch factor on the exterior. The assortment of cream cheese is enough to overwhelm any new customer but they are all good from the plain to the scallion cream cheese to the lox option. The reason for the 1 star is because of a sanitary situation that happens this morning, 3/6/26, in the store watching them taking out the " everything bagel" when one fell onto to floor, I watch this white hair man, about 6ft he doesn't work there regularly so I assume he may be the owner, pick up the bagel from off the floor an just casually put it back into the box they use to put bagel,I look at him and said "really" twice, I can see he was a little uncomfortable because he look at me then turn his eyes away and refuse to look back at me, I knew he knew I was still staring at him, am so mad at myself for not calling him out, I ended up tossing my breakfast in the garbage, I have been going there for over 30yrs, yeah that long, am just shock that he pick it up off the floor that everyone walked on with about 8-12 in the store, that morning, am so so mad I walk out without saying something, I guess it's a reminder that we all should be cooking at home, lot of these business is about profit plain and simple. read more

I've been searching for a great bagel ever since our little bagel shop in Glen Rock closed. After more than 8 years of looking, I believe I've found the PERFECT bagel. They're soft and chewy, yet crispy, even after we've had them in the freezer for a couple of weeks.
