What can be said for Nick's Gyros. It's the best place in town to have Greek food. My family have been coming here for years ever since I was a kid. Every Mother's Day we celebrate here as a family tradition, and even though my grandma isn't with us anymore we still like carrying on the tradition. It use to be a well hidden jem of a restaurant in Sioux Falls, but every Mother's Day they seem to be busier than the last, which is good to keep the business going, but it feels different somehow. The food is absolutely delicious, my go to is the Gyro Plate. The Gyro Plate is a flat bread sandwich with shaved beef, diced tomatoes and onions, goat cheese, black olives, and taziki sauce. A side of fries and a fountain pop come with it. I've also tried the chicken gyro and the steak kabob gyro, but the beef is King. I always order extra taziki sauce. They put so much of the fixings on the Gyro you have to eat it with cutlery before you can fold it in half and eat it like it was intended. They have baklava for dessert and it is scrumptious, it compliments the food really well. Unfortunately they are in an old style Taco Bell and the restrooms are in back so you have to go outside behind the building to find them. The service is always fast and friendly, with free refills. Is it as good as a Gyro from NYC, no.. But I think it's the best Gyro I enjoyed in Sioux Falls. You can't miss it driving down the street as the outside is adorned with the white and blue colors of the Greek flag. Inside I found it to be not a bad place and the portions were huge! Definitely left full. I can't speak for all the dishes but the Gyros are not bad at all! If I have to say anything negative I would say that the tzatziki sauce was bland compared to other Gyros I have had in the past. Otherwise, it's a decent little place and will certainly go there again. read more

I will start off by saying the chicken gyros are absolutely amazing, in fact they were so amazing that I decided to have another the next day for lunch. This time I decided to pay the $5 for extra meat and when I checked the sandwich before I left I noticed the extra meat that I paid for wasn't on the plate. The plate looked exactly like the plate I had the previous day. Of course I brought it to their attention that I ordered extra meat and I was expecting them to say "oh, I forgot...let me add that for you" but, instead I got 3 other noses stuck in my bag all I got was extra meat has been added already. My sandwich was made next to a regular sandwich and it looked identical. Im not saying don't eat Nick's but I am advising you to make sure to get what you pay for. read more

I typically prefer chicken over beef, however you have to have the beef gyros! They are so good. Especially with the BBQ sauce they provide there. The pizza is also very good and they give you a good size portion. There is no need to get extra meat, in my opinion. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the wait time. I'm from TX and the Greek restaurants/eateries ive been to there compaired to the ones here in SD are quite a bit different when it comes to quality, atmosphere and overall experience. This place definitely leans more towards the fast-food type and even has a drive thru which is great. That being said, not a big fan. I ordered an $8 chicken gyro salad and didn't even get a side of pita. Why is it called a gyro salad when I don't even get any pita? Lettuce was wilting, chicken was dry, tomatoes and cucumbers were old. I'm not rating it poorly because it was fast-food, I'm rating it poorly because it was a waist of money and not good. I was visiting Sioux Falls for two weeks, and was in the mood for a gyro when I happened to drive past Nick's. The place looks like an absolute dive with a tiny order counter, a cramped and less than stellar dining area. It definitely isn't your typical fast food restaurant with a play-land or someone offering to "biggie size" your meal for another $.59, but then again the food is very much different. The gyros were hot delicious Greek goodness, served flat on pita bread, with your typical gyro accompaniment, tomato, onion, and Tzatziki sauce that is actually from atop of Mount Olympus. The lamb was perfectly seasoned and cut off the spindle right in front of you, just like it's supposed to be. Not like many other places that offer non traditional gyros which are nothing more than frozen preformed patties of chicken and pork, which is an abomination to the gyro gods and Zeus himself (who's not to be confused with Dr, Zeus, I do so like green gyros and ham....oh, but I digress...) I can't speak for the rest of the items on the menu, only the gyros which I ate three times during my visit. The quality and tastiness of the sandwich was the same each visit. If you're looking for ambiance or linen table clothes, this definitely is not the place. But if you want a really good authentic gyro that feels like it came out of good ol' Uncle Nikolaos Skedros' kitchen, then Nick's has my vote. read more

The lamb was wonderful and plenty. Not a fan of the tzatziki, too runny and cut down. whole olives, I prefer sliced. The feta is a cube on the side, I get some people don't want it on there so that's ok. Tomatoes and White onions are good but its missing shredded lettuce for my liking. I've seen really good reviews but I don't agree with them and that may be because I was brought up on the East Coast and Greek food is just plain better there I ordered beef souvlaki,It was served on a delicious homemade pita that's where it stopped. The beef beef was seasoned with traditional Greek flavors But it was thoroughly dried out and difficult to chew the other ingredients on my plate were a handful of spotted tomatoes and a small handful of chopped white onion raw. I guess I'll explain the difference to Souvlaki on the east Coast would have had the meat and a variety of fruit or vegetable all marinated on a stick and roasted over the grill it would've been served with The same Yogurt and cucumber sauce. It would've been so moist you'd have a hard time catching all the drippings. read more

As somebody who's not had a gyro from anywhere else before, feel free to take my review with a grain of salt. But I really like the food here. The tzatziki sauce is kinda bitey but man the gyros are huge! I can only eat half of a gyro in one sitting. They are fabulously flavorful, but be warned, it's also pretty greasy. But hey, I like that, haha! The place is kind of a dive, but don't let that turn you off. Staff is sort of a scraggly bunch but they're cheerful and serve quick. I like it for "something different" when I'm not in the mood for cooking or spending a lot to eat out. read more
