Recently tried Nick's for the first time for a friend's birthday. Our server was great, he was nice, attentive and gave some awesome recommendations. I got Cha Cha's Spicy Rigatoni, it was delicious! There are so many great Italian places in LA that have perfected this dish so I was a little worried I'd be disappointed, but it was great! We also shared the butter cake for dessert, this dessert is absolutely amazing. Our server, Raquel, was lovely and on top of things. I had what I think is the best Mai Tai I've ever had, even while in Hawaii! Just delicious. We enjoyed the fried asparagus and bacon deviled eggs as our appetizer. The buttermilk fried chicken, crispy chicken sandwich and the ribeye melt were really good, but I am STILL thinking about how incredible Cha Cha's Spicy Rigatoni was. So incredibly creamy, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of heat. My daughter orders this every time it's on a menu, and this is by far the best I've ever tasted. SO good. We had mentioned we were celebrating our twins' birthday, and they were served two lovely pieces of chocolate cake with a candle, AND a card for each of them signed by the staff. Came here for a date night on Saturday with a reservation. Highly recommend a reservation since it tends to get really busy. Half of the restaurant is outside FYI. Overall great service and food. (first time i came here, they forgot my appetizer order and it didn't come out until we got dessert but they comped it for us) We ordered the crispy tuna rice, sea bass and the prime rib dip - all were delicious! I normally only give reviews to places with proper changing tables, but I'm making a rare exception for this restaurant because I LOVE coming here with Mom and Dad. There are babies everywhere, the patio vibes are elite, and I get to people-watch like a tiny VIP. So honestly, how do you look at all these cute diapered butts and NOT install one single luxurious changing station?? There is SO much empty space crying out for a Koala Kare with a plush mattress topper. Come on, guys, my royal rump deserves better! Last visit, Mom and Dad's steaks came out looking like hockey pucks (they were big mad) and I had to waddle next door to Petros for emergency pit-stop privileges. (Shout-out to Petros for the five-star changing table, 10/10, no notes, we're definitely eating there next time.) Fix the steaks, add a changing table, and this place would be undefeated. Nick's is a very nice MB restaurant that has a good variety of offerings. As a vegan it's always difficult going out to eat so, when necessary, I'll make an exception for some cheese. I would say you could pretty easily eat vegan here. I had the house-made veggie burger that comes with Swiss cheese (but requested no cheese) and fries. It's very good and quite filling. They do also have some good sounding salads which I'll try next time. I had to try the non- vegan asparagus fries which a pretty yummy. Nice cocktails and hard to choose from the drink list! They also serve coke in a bottle which was a treat! The service was above average and I enjoyed the elegant yet casual ambiance of the restaurant which is very Manhattan Beach, so a tad bougie in a nice way. I had dinner with a friend in the outdoor space on a cool Spring evening and had a wonderful dinning experience. The service was both attentive and didn't leave us feel rushed or overwhelmed. For starters, we ordered a delicious Ahi tartar served with avocado and it was delicious. For dinner I ordered a salmon dish and it was cooked perfectly; sometimes, salmon is overcooked and can be dry. The salmon was topped with a delicious sauce which included capers which provided a beautiful compliment to the fish. I had tried the Long Beach location so I wanted to try this one. I didn't like the sushi roll I tried. It had bell peppers, cucumbers and it was topped with salmon. I felt like it was too many flavors in one roll. I also tried the chicken Picatta and it was ok. My date tried the sea bass and it was awesome. Their lattes are amazing and so if their butter cake. Went for a celebratory dinner with the family. All of us enjoyed the food we ordered with some leftovers to spare. They have a lot of items on the menu and ones that are consistent. They do customize - remove cheese for example - and have a great variety for diverse tastes. Parking is below the building with meters on the street too. Sometimes can get busy. Rez are important because they get busy, but we were able on a weekday to move our Rez up an hour. It's quiet and easy to talk - with mood lighting for dinner. Thursday at 5:15, I embarked on a noble quest: to sit at a bar and drink overpriced cocktails with a college friend. Mission accomplished. David, our mixologist for the night, shook my martini with such vigor that capturing a still photo was impossible, seriously! The man has the wrist strength of a champion maraca player. And let's take a moment to appreciate Nick's for offering triple blue cheese olive martini skewers. That's not just a drink; that's a whole appetizer on a stick. Efficiency at its finest. On the food front, we dabbled in some appetizers. The asparagus fries: parmesan-crusted spears with buttermilk ranch, they were good (solid B+). We also devoured the crispy rice with spicy tuna: featuring ponzu, micro wasabi, and spicy aioli, another solid B+. If these dishes were students, they'd be the ones who did their homework but didn't go for extra credit. The vibe? Super chill. I chatted with some MB locals who were in full relaxation mode, and there was a TV showing the Lakers game, because priorities. Final verdict: Nick's is a win. I've been to Nick's four times over the last five months and the food hits every time. It's in a super cute shopping square with a patio (heat lamps when it's cold) a full bar with seating and booth sitting. There is a view into the kitchen which I always find is a nice touch. My favorites have been the fried asparagus with aioli dip, shrimp taquitos with whole shrimp, the prime rib melt and butter cake for desert. I literally dream about their prime rib melt. A little sweetness with a thin layer of cheese and crispy bread. It's the best. The staff is always super nice and I've never had a reservation. Food comes out quick, but you never feel rushed. I expected this restaurant to stay one of my favorites every time I visit LA. read more

Had dinner here for my friends birthday. We were sat immediately and were helped with drinks right away. I tried The Tequini and it was very tasty. The appetizers were very good and plenty for our party of 6 (caesar salad, calamari, and shrimp taquitos). For entree I shared the crispy chicken sandwich and fries and I was blown away. The chicken was breaded perfectly and had such good flavor. The provolone cheese was the perfect combo. The slaw, sliced almonds, and sesame seed bun set this over the edge of goodness. My friend got a complimentary chocolate cake for her birthday. Nice balance of bitter and sweetness. They even gave her a card signed by the staff, nice touch. For the table we shared the butter cake and it was divine. Maybe not the best butter cake I've had but delicious nonetheless. My favorite, and the one I have pretty much every time I come in, is their cioppino. It is really-really good. Nick's has both indoor dining as well as patio dining. This being said, they also do have a very nice interior dinning space for those who want to be more enclosed. Plus, they also have a good bar area. Tonight, we decided to leave the restaurant because we were extremely disappointed and frankly disgusted by the behavior of the manager, Andrew. This is the second time we have interacted with him, and both times he has been one of the rudest managers we have ever encountered. My partner and I stopped by to order our usual Seared Salmon and salad. We have been loyal patrons for years and typically dine at the restaurant 2-3 times per week due to our busy work schedules. We made reservations and were seated in a small two-person booth. When Andrew came by to drop off our spinach and artichoke dip, we politely asked if we could move to a larger booth. Fortunately, there was an open booth directly across from us. He said, "Yes, I will clean it off." After cleaning the booth, he returned to our table and said, "Okay, the booth is clean so you can move," and then walked away. He did not offer to help move our food, drinks, silverware--nothing. He simply walked off and never returned. We initially assumed he would come back to assist, but once it was clear he wasn't, we had to move everything ourselves. It was embarrassing and completely contrary to the level of hospitality we have always experienced at Nick's. After we settled at the new table, Andrew came by to drop off fresh chips. I immediately shared that his behavior felt rude and dismissive. His response was, "Oh, okay. Next time you need to move, remind me to help you guys." His statement was dismissive and unprofessional, especially coming from a manager. At that point, I asked our waitress to close out our bill, and we took our business to Joey's in Manhattan Beach. I later asked the waitress who he was, and she confirmed that he is a manager. I am genuinely surprised that Nick's would promote someone who treats guests this way. It does not appear that he has been trained in customer service, hospitality, or basic courtesy. My family has decided that we will not visit the restaurant on days when this manager is on duty. Based on our experience, I would also caution other guests--particularly people of color--to avoid dining when this manager is present if they want to avoid feeling mistreated or discriminated against. We have supported this restaurant for years, but no patron should ever leave feeling disrespected, embarrassed, or undervalued. read more

We got the cioppino, salmon, and petit filet mignon that came with a salad and soup of the day which was a creamy French onion. We loved everything and I think the best thing was the cioppino. The portion size was generous and for the price you get a good amount of seafood. Service was great too and I would definitely come back. The only downside was parking which is tricky when you're near a pier. Make sure to allow ample time for parking because it takes a while to find a spot. read more
