    Spinach and Artichoke Dip Appetizer
    Steven H.

I had Rigatoni and Sausage with Filet Mignon Skewers in Teriyaki Glaze with Coronas to wash it down. This is a five star food establishment with three star service. The rigatoni was al dente perfect and the light cream sauce was amazing. Very delicate seasoning by an obviously skilled hand. The sausage was full of flavor. The side skewers were delicious. Beefy, tender, nice Asian flavors and I could eat 10 orders without taking a breather. Also on the table was classic Spinach and Artichoke Dip--creamy, flavorful and delicious. I wanted to comment on the Corona beers with limes. They were delicious. Up in hinterlands of NoAZ we don't always get fresh items. The Coronas reminded me of Mexican beaches with fresh full-flavored Mexican beers and limes. Really good! ¡Arriba, Abajo, en Centro, en Dentro--Saluuud! As to the service, it was friendly, accurate but not fast. Very long waits for items that should be served immediately, like drinks, like ordering, like food courses arriving in a reasonable time. Not bad service, simply slower service than I'm used to getting.

It's fuzzy, but hey a view from inside those famed stained glass windows!

Possibly the best crab cakes of our entire lives and the yellowtail crudo was the definition of a balanced and rich appetizer. Seriously, this is in our top 10 meals (maybe top 5) of all time. We had an incredible server in John. He was the perfect balance of attentiveness (yet not overbearing), knowledgeable, professional, yet he still made us feel like we were having a relaxed hangout out in his house as his friends. I've been a bartender at various bars and restaurants for the past 20 years and I gotta say that it was an honor to be helped by that caliber of a server. I also told him that I didn't love mushrooms so he had our entrée, which had mushrooms, split and my sister's half had mushrooms but mine didn't. Just incredible We couldn't recommend this restaurant any more highly. Do yourself a favor and stop by The Strand House for a meal, you'll thank me later.

The ocean views are absolutely beautiful, the bar area has a great energy, the staff was friendly and attentive, and there's clearly a strong local regular crowd that gives the place life and personality. The atmosphere honestly carries a lot of the experience here. Food-wise though, I have mixed feelings considering the pricing. The menu is definitely charging premium Manhattan Beach/oceanfront prices, but most of the food itself felt pretty average. The breakfast potatoes were especially mid and lacked seasoning or anything memorable. My wife didn't enjoy the pork belly benedict much, although she did really like the salmon benedict. On the other hand, the bluefin tuna tostada was magnificent and easily one of the standout dishes we had. The fries situation was fascinating to me. They're $15, but to be fair they give you an absurd amount of fries -- basically an entire fry boat. They also serve them with house-made ketchup and aioli, which sounds great... except they give you about a thimble worth of sauce. I started noticing almost every other table with fries had huge piles left over and completely ran out of sauce early on. At that point it almost feels intentional because there's no way the restaurant hasn't noticed this pattern already. Overall, this is the kind of place where you go for the scenery, people watching, drinks, atmosphere, and social experience more than for mind-blowing food. If you approach it that way, it's a really enjoyable spot.

Our server, Raquel, was lovely and on top of things. I had what I think is the best Mai Tai I've ever had, even while in Hawaii! Just delicious. We enjoyed the fried asparagus and bacon deviled eggs as our appetizer. The buttermilk fried chicken, crispy chicken sandwich and the ribeye melt were really good, but I am STILL thinking about how incredible Cha Cha's Spicy Rigatoni was. So incredibly creamy, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of heat. My daughter orders this every time it's on a menu, and this is by far the best I've ever tasted. SO good. We had mentioned we were celebrating our twins' birthday, and they were served two lovely pieces of chocolate cake with a candle, AND a card for each of them signed by the staff. Some dishes could've been executed better. Going down the list of dishes I had here: - Bacon Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits: These were more like scones rather than biscuits. Crunchy with good bacon and cheddar flavor. - Japanese Hamachi Crudo: Unique and I liked the citrusy flavor and creamy texture. However, 3 small slices of fish for $26 was overpriced. - Leafy Greens & Radicchio: Solid and crispy salad with a nice tangy dressing. The cheese also added a lot of sharp flavor which was nice. - Skirt Steak: Good flavor and char, but a bit tough. Also some dry pieces. - Chilean Sea Bass: Lemon orzo risotto was creamy and delicious. The sea bass itself was okay, nothing special. It felt overpowered by the risotto. The fish was moist and flaky though. - 20 Oz Prime Beef Ribeye: Quality was subpar relative to price. Portion size was solid by the steak itself was inconsistent. Some of the pieces were rarer while others were more well-done even though we asked for medium rare. There were also some dry pieces which I did not like. Flavor was good though. - Strawberry and Olive Oil Cake: Was confused since there was just a thin layer of cake, but realized the title also referred to the mousse. I would title it 'Strawberry Mousse with Olive Oil Cake" to make it less confusing. Regardless, this was a delicious dessert! Love the fruity strawberry and savory pistachio flavors as well as the smooth textures. - S'mores sundae: Got this on the house for my aunt's birthday. A generous portion but the components were a bit too sweet for my liking. I visited this restaurant for a birthday that I organized and my experience was overall good. Reservation was made easy using OpenTable and I could also mention it was for a birthday occasion. The ambiance was gorgeous with good mood lighting. Good for group and 1 on 1 dining. Parking is metered or street parking. Overall, I probably wouldn't come out of my way to dine here again, but my experience wasn't bad just not significant enough to put in my rotation. Would come back if someone treated me here though.

Came through for happy hour with me, the Mrs., and two friends and we basically made it our mission…read moreto run the entire happy hour menu top to bottom... and I'm telling you right now: it didn't miss once. Every round that hit the table was a "pass it around, everybody try this" moment. The kind of happy hour where you're not just snacking -- you're accidentally having a full-on dinner because you can't stop ordering "one more thing." Food: Legit. Everything we tried was solid, but the wings were the standout for me -- the kind you keep reaching for even when you tell yourself you're good. Great flavor, cooked right, and they held their own against any wing spot that claims they're "known for wings." Whatever they're doing back there, keep doing that. Service / experience: This is where they really won. Trent was our guy tonight and I can't say enough about him. Manager supreme is the right title -- he wasn't just checking boxes, he was running the whole experience. He served, suggested, kept the pacing perfect, and made it feel effortless while still being locked in the entire time. You can tell when someone actually cares that your night is going well, and Trent is that dude. Major asset to this business and the kind of manager that turns first-time visits into "we're coming back next week." Atmosphere was exactly what you want for Manhattan Beach happy hour: lively, comfortable, easy to settle in, and perfect for a group. We came to try the menu and ended up staying for the vibe. Only complaint -- and it's not even on them, it's on the "beach cities trying to save the world one soggy sip at a time" vibe -- the paper straws. I swear those things last 11 minutes before they turn into a wet napkin. Let me live, Rockerfellas Bottom line: If you want a happy hour that actually delivers, Rockerfellas is it. Bring friends, come hungry, and if you get Trent taking care of you? You're in elite hands. We'll be back.

If I can tack on a 1/2 star or 1/2 point above, I would. And the only reason WHY I am not giving a…read morefull 5-star rating is because of The Rockefeller's cockamamie rule of "yes, we're dog friendly" but "you can't have your dog or your party block the sidewalk" and "we're not allowed to have the chairs out to here (indicating a particular distance on the sidewalk)", etcetera, etcetera. GIve me a break. JUST SAY that The Rockefeller isn't dog-friendly and be done with it, ok? By the way, this incident WAS on Mother's Day 2026, so the staff was particularly overwhelmed. . . so there's that timing. On a previous time my husband and I had brunch here about 4-5 months ago, we DID take our little doggie without any issue. So the staff either has to get their stories straight for next time or just say that The Rockefeller IS dog-friendly, BUT ONLY for a two- or one-person party. Other than that, The Rockefeller's Chilaquiles are phenomenal. It was flavorful and filling. Also, the Bacon & Eggs (two eggs, any style) -- which I had my eggs over-easy -- were outstanding. Bottom-line: Don't bring your dog. It's just too complicated for The Rockefeller to handle. Leave your dog at home.
