Food was great overall! We started with a potato frites in beef tallow and fresh oysters (regulate not minuette) we loved the fries!!! Best!!! Then our food was served 20 minutes after we seated: I had the branzino which was a Ok I've tasted better. My son had the Chilean seabass which he did not like the potatoes and k my age the fish. My son's gf had the ceviche she compared it with the local market made and said she liked the local better than what she had. Drinks were good. Reservation was at 5pm, they seated us on time. However if felt like we did not have a choice but to be seated in the patio area which got really cold & windy, out table was wobbling though they put shoppers on it still felt wobbly. It wasn't the best area to dine in. It felt like they just shoved us in there and did not even ask if we were ok with our table being out in the patio. I preferred to be inside the dining area because it looks more peaceful, comfortable and enjoyable. Overall ambience is nice, bright and airy. The patio is too tight and the guy behind me keeps hitting my chair. We dine in quick because I wasn't liking the area where we were. They could've offered us a better space. Our server was phenomenal!

Location and Atmosphere is Top Notch! The beach front vibe does not get any better. The downstairs get a view of the ocean and the pier, but not a full view of the sunset. The place is packed, even on a Tuesday. But our server was amazing and on point. She was able to deliver an excellent service. Food is great. The Lamb Chops was perfectly grilled, flavorful, moist and tender. Definitely the best Lamb Chops I've had. The brussel and bacon is a must. Price is above average, but considering the location its still a steal. Parking is a problem, metered or the lot. Best to take Uber/Lyft.

French fries were hot and both crispy and soft and you get a lot. The ketchup is house made as is the aoli which was good not great.

Location: this place doesn't get any better. Literally steps from the MB pier and the strand boardwalk. Watch the sunset after you order and are waiting for your food. Parking: Good luck! Think Times Square type vibe. There paid beach parking that's usually full, street meters also usually full and nearby parking paid, also usually full. It's hit or miss and more miss than hit! Save yourself the stress and walk there, take public transport or uber/lyft. Views: 5 for view if you can snag an up or downstairs window seat, you can see the beach, and pier but not the sunset. You gotta walk down to the beach for that. Food: 4-5 for food. The Brussels sprouts are good and a tad soggy, the French fries are a 5, the bread rolls with butter are a 5. Prices: The prices are high but that's par for the oceanfront view. Music: is a 1 at best. They need a live band or DJ. Music as horrible! Service: was good. Why come here? I'll be back with tourist guests as always. Or a nice romantic vibe night. Or maybe a work dinner or lunch.

Stopped by for dinner and drinks with my hubby and a friend this place is definitely a vibe and super close to the ocean. Best time to go is for happy hour before sunset. Our reservation wasn't until 8:30, so we hung out downstairs for about an hour first. Met a lot of people who were clearly locals and regulars, which always says a lot about a spot. Once we sat down for dinner, we ordered a few things. The bluefin tostadas are a must if you're into seafood. We also had the scallops delicious doesn't even do them justice, just wish there was more than one . My hubby ordered the lamb, which was probably our least favorite since it was a bit dry. The rigatoni though? Unbelievably good. Honestly, I'd come back and order the exact same items minus the lamb lol. Shoutout to Griffin for keeping us going all night . And the buttermilk bread? So good I almost cried. Parking is pretty easy, but definitely come early on a nice day. There are a couple of metered lots nearby with up to 5-hour parking. Fridays they've got a DJ after 9:30 PM... how swayyy See you next time!

The drink was definitely a heat of passion! Spicy lovers only, I substituted the mezcal with calamitous and that heat was STILL there. Crab cakes were very tasty along with their gribiche sauce. Service was okay, maybe could be a little swifter to greet once seated just to feel more welcoming.

Went here for a Friday dinner, sat on the outside with a view of the ocean which is beautiful. Service is quick and the waiter was very attentive, although the hostess tried to sit us "outside" with a table which is looking into the restaurant which is worse than no view before I told her no.. Food was good for the most part, we really liked one of the cheeses in the charcuterie board (saint nectaire) to the point where we went to the store to buy our own afterwards. The scallops for the pesto pasta were cooked perfectly, tender, no rubbery/fishiness, just a vibrant rich flavor. The fideo de mare had an interesting texture due to the toasted noodles but the sauce was a little too watery which I didn't like.

My friend and I had a vibey brunch at The Strand House. We made a 1pm reservation and I'm glad that we did because the place was completely packed. We were seated at a table right against the window with a prime ocean view. Our server, while pleasant, left us alone for long periods of time. Because he seemed to have forgotten about us, we weren't able to order for quite some time and thus received our food over an hour after arriving. We started with the crab cakes. Tasty, but not worth the cost. For my main I had the Parisian Ham and Cypress Grove Cheese Omelette. They knew what they were doing by putting Cypress Grove in the name, because I love that cheese and knew I had to order this. The plate was beautiful, the portion was large and it was all-around satisfying. This is the place to go for a more upscale experience right by the beach, and the spot to come for a lively meal with friends.

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday and we had a great experience! The view was amazing and the food definitely lived up to the hype. It can get pretty pricey depending on what you order, but everything we had was delicious. We ordered the crab cake that our server highly recommended, a 1/2 dozen fresh oysters, and the Tomahawk steak -- all were excellent. Drinks were also on point; the margarita and espresso martini were both good. Our server also surprised us with a complimentary birthday treat, a really nice touch that made the night feel special. One heads up: be careful with parking meters! We saw a few people getting tickets while we were enjoying the beautiful view from our table. Definitely give yourself enough time on the meter so you can relax and enjoy your meal stress-free.

If you're looking for the best sunset view in the South Bay, you can't beat Strand House in Manhattan Beach. On a beautiful California evening, this place is the total triple threat -- great food, great service, and an unbeatable atmosphere. This place is ALWAYS packed and reservations are highly recommended!!! We grabbed a table right around sunset and the view over the ocean was absolutely stunning. Watching the sun drop below the horizon while the restaurant fills with that golden coastal glow is an experience all on its own. We kept things light and shared a couple of appetizers, a salad, and a side dish, and everything was fresh and flavorful. Perfect portions for grazing while enjoying the view and a drink. The service was just as impressive -- friendly, attentive, and perfectly timed without ever feeling rushed. Between the incredible sunset, delicious food, and top-notch service, Strand House is easily one of my favorite spots in Manhattan Beach. Perfect for a date night or just soaking in a classic California sunset.

We recently visited to celebrate our anniversary. While we were disappointed to find that some items listed on the website menu had been removed, we had an overall satisfying experience. The Pan Seared Aegean Branzino, Crab Cakes, and Lychee Rose Cake were all amazing. We found the King Crab-Stuffed Shrimp to be just okay, and likely wouldn't order it again. The cocktails were mixed well and refreshing The ambiance was perfect for the occasion and the staff were very friendly. A pleasant evening.

The Baseline: For a sit down upper-scale restaurant is the quality of the food, existence of any unique offerings, quality of the service, and ambiance of the overall dining experience. Food: The Hand Cut Frites is still my favorite. It is my appetizer and we always order them. Service: Great service for the night. My water glass was kept full. Ambiance: Great restaurant that was overlooking the beach and we had a great corner table to see the strand and the pier.

Easter lunch at The Strand House--where the ocean view showed up on time, but the food... took its time. We skipped the $95 prix fixe and went à la carte, though the menu still felt oddly brunch-shy--more "polite lunch" than holiday spread. The setting? Hard to beat. Perfect weather, sweeping views, prime Strand people-watching. If vibes alone could carry a meal, this would be five stars. Service, however, moved at a very... coastal pace. About 20 minutes to order, then close to 50 minutes before anything hit the table. Plenty of time to admire the ocean, reconsider life choices, and memorize the menu. Food was a mixed bag: * The banana soufflé pancake was the hero. Banana nailed that crispy-meets-soft contrast. The pancake itself? More "soufflé-adjacent" than actual soufflé. * The eggs benedict... let's just say the hollandaise took a creative detour and landed somewhere near cream of mushroom. Not the destination you want. Verdict: Come for the view, stay for the sunshine, and maybe eat beforehand.

Came here for a special occasion 18th birthday celebration family friend. I love all their delicious foods and desserts. Their food presentation is so cute and nicely done. The beef short ribs is a must meat is juicy, tender and mushroom packed flavor so good. The salmon plate is perfectly cooked not dry with umami. Best of all is the donut flight what a delight to finish off your dinner. The flavors and designs are amazing and creative. Don't skip on their cocktails. The staff is very attentive to our party. We have a pre set menu arranged in advance. We sat on a long table middle of the restaurant not situated in a separate function room that's the only thing they lack. Ambient lighting and mellow music on the background. The space is not that big that's why loud noise from people around us is intense. The best unobstructed sunset view of the Marina Del Rey ocean through full glass windows adds to the beauty of the day. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for spectacular place to celebrate special events.

Server Álvaro is an actual SAINT at Saint & Second!…read more I want to start by clarifying that I went to S&S yesterday afternoon ready to cry major boo-hoo tears to my two besties, without much of an appetite. Instead, I ended up with a full belly and side cramps from laughing along with our awesome server, Alvaro. The Man. The Myth. The Legend that he is! Small Backstory: Last Friday I lost my job of almost 25 years in public education due to a complicated work accident (my back was broken & I now have screws in my spine) and I planned to whine to my best friends into a cocktail or two, and get out plenty of Kim Kardashian ugly-cry faces until it would be time to go home. Enter ALVARO! This kind man had the nerve to be polite to us! The nerve! LOL. He greeted us with a warm smile while my cold heart was practically making it snow. He explained all portions of the breathtaking menu when I had planed to eat my sadness. He even had the GALL to say if we wanted something not on the menu that he would see what he could do to make it happen! Here I was, ready to drink Unicorn Tears, and he was cheering me up! WHAT THE??! LOL The three is us started with the MEZZE PLATE. And OH LORD! I think we ate the print off of the plates while trying to get to the last crumb. We polished off a whole extra serving of cucumber slices in the process, by the way, and I'm not embarrassed to say that. The Turkish honey-sweetened labne was such a party in our mouths! Make of that what you will. Each of us got a dinner entre, with mine being the S&S Fish and Chips. I loved that the fillet was not overly battered and the chips had an almost double-Belgium fried taste going on. I couldn't help but swipe several spoons worth of aged-cheddar grits off a friend's seared pork chop plate. Now THOSE were some butter-heaven sent grits! My drink, that kept shooting partially through my nostrils from laughter, was a classic margarita on the rocks. No margaritas were injured/harmed in the process of my belly laughter. At some point towards the end of our night, a patron of the mall next door pulled the site-wide fire alarm, ringing through the whole location for everyone to use caution and head to the closest exit. If you grew up like my friends and I, you don't follow that suggestion unless you're trying to run out on the bill like a jerk. Bless be to Alvaro, he stopped by our table several times to apologize about the noise and flashing lights and explained the fire department was working on it. I explained that the Hood Cricket sound didn't bother us and we were happy to wait out the alarm. So not only did Alvaro provide us with excellent service, an outstanding meal, and generous smiles, but he also made sure that we felt SEEN. And THAT is what made the whole evening worth it. No sadness or cringey tears about a lost job were needed. It ends up all we needed was a server named Alvaro at Saint & Second to make my spirits feel high again. Pricing is a bit high but was totally worth it! Patrons were dressed business casual. Sound level, not counting the hood cricket, was mid and conversation was easy to have. Several televisions were playing different stations but no captions were provided. There is handicap parking available in the parking garage located just outside the front door of the establishment and no stairs or elevators are needed to enter. There are several entrances/exits to the available outdoor seating area and outdoor heaters are available. Glances around showed me that every patron I saw was tucking into their plates with smiles and were enjoying themselves. I have already made plans to return to S&S in another two weeks because it was indeed THAT GOOD! And for those fine diners that are wondering, "But what is a Hood Cricket?" An HC is a chirping fire-alarm that some of us are able to tune out with ease. You're welcome!

We were notified shortly after being seated at 5:30 that there was no pork chop available, which was disappointing because we arranged the dinner on a Tuesday so that we could order the special. We ended up ordering the duck breast and sea bass, and both were very good. The chef sent us a cheesy potato dish to make up for not having the special, which was very thoughtful. We also greatly enjoyed the complimentary birthday treat at the end of the meal, and the candle was a nice touch! Our server, Stephanie, was excellent--even better than the server we had at our last visit to the restaurant. She was very warm, friendly, and attentive, and had a great smile! She provided the type of service you'd expect during a fine dining experience. Overall it was a great dinner and it's nice to see a classy steakhouse in downtown El Segundo!

For starters, an Old Fashion with any one of their top shelf bourbons sets the mood, paired with the Elk Carpaccio which was simply mouth watering seasoned to perfection. Then the main course, I had the Wagyu Filet, my friend had the Wagyu New York Steak. Both were cooked med rare and served isolated on a warmed plate with a sprinkle of sea salt. Nothing else needed but we did order the Pan Roasted Mushrooms and Cheesy Potatoes sides which were great. Honestly, hands down the BEST filet and steak we've ever consumed. Excellent steaks, drinks, and service. Porterhouse will not disappoint.
