Came here for brunch on a Saturday @ noon and there were plenty of tables available. Servers were super nice. We got a table on the patio which was great. I got a mimosa to start which was good but small. I then got a Aperol spritz which was good and worth the price. I ordered the breakfast burrito with sausage. It was so yummy! My friend got the burrito with bacon but the bacon came in chunks which wasn't good. The burrito also wasn't on all of the menus so just know it's available even if it's not on the menu you have. Hubbers and I had a mid-week day free, and with a couple of pups on hand, we brainstormed and thought about where to spend that free time. Hermosa Beach it is. And Hubbers suggested this place for a late-ish lunch because he's been here before and had a positive experience. Outdoor seating only since we had the furballs. We had our choice of where since we were the only customers on a late lunch hour. Servers were so patient with our pups (even when they were moody - my apologies!) and were even nice enough to bring them water bowls! It was a cool and cloudy day, but that didn't damper anything. In fact, we appreciated it coming off the heat wave from the last couple of weeks! Everything on their menu looked so good, it took me awhile to decide. But Hubbers and I agreed on the Kayak Tide Tray (+4 extra oysters) and the charred watermelon salad. In the meanwhile, I battled between lobster pasta and five dragon pastrami. (The pasta won out.) Hubbers went for the cedar planked Ora king salmon. And a couple of cocktails to wash it all down! KAYAK TIDE TRAY: The seasoned scallops were my favorites, hands down. The sauce was fantastic and didn't overpower the scallops' main essence. The oysters were shucked fresh and the sauces elevated the flavors a bit. Shrimps were chilled tender and had a nice chew. Cocktail sauce added flavor. The mussels? Sad to say, but half of them were served still frozen hard. So we took our time with it and let it thaw out which didn't happen until we were halfway our meal. Overall: excellent. CHARRED WATERMELON: This plate was so well put together! And not only is it pleasing to the eyes (nice touch with the micros!), it was the same with the palate. Watermelon was fresh. Charred only on one side (I'm curious what it would be like if they charred ALL the sides - will make this request - only if possible - next time!) Taking bites from each component of this salad makes all the difference: the acidity of the tomatoes are tempered by the burrata and the cucumbers, and the freshness of the watermelon makes it all refreshing. The onions added a bit of tart, as did the pomegranates. Didn't notice any macadamia nuts, but no matter! This is a must have! LOBSTER PASTA: Didn't happen... see below. LOBSTER ROLL: Served along with Hubbers' salmon plate (more on that later.) We had a different server at this point (our first one told us he was going on his break.) I thought Hubbers put in an order of this too, so I moved the plate to his side. Our server noticed this and said, "Are you sharing? Would you like an extra plate?" Hubbers confirmed he didn't other this. And that neither did I, but we are waiting on the lobster pasta. He then explained they are out of that dish, "was this not related to you?" Long story short, I told him I'd take the roll, no biggie. He offered to comp it, and if I like, I can put in another order. So I went for the pastrami. And as we waited for that, Hubbers and I split this and WOW. Bread was toasted and buttered perfect, generous with the amount of lobster, plating was a delight to the eyes, and overall delicious. I appreciated the aroma of the tarragon. Yum! FIVE DRAGON PASTRAMI: This is a generous serving, plenty to share with another. Lots of flavors with each bite but the well-seasoned and flavored pastrami dominates them all. The slaw was strong but the subtleness of the lappi balanced it out. Sourdough was perfectly toasted. I thought about not ordering this since I knew the lobster roll might have been enough, but I'm sure glad I went for it! Delish! Hubbers let me have a couple of bites off his salmon plate and O.M.G.!!! He sure picked a good one! Skin was seasoned crispy and the fish was so moist! This is probably one of the best versions of salmon I've had. (For the record, I rarely order anything salmon since 90-95% of the time, they're served dry, but this one here, I'd highly recommend.) FOOD: 4.75. SERVICE: 5. They were AMAZING!!! VALUE: 4. Given the location, pricing is understandable. But worth it. PARKING: Street/Structure only. All metered. And getting here will require a bit of a walk depending on where you parked. OVERALL: 4.5. Plans on coming back here with more people is now in the works. I don't understand why the rating is so low. They offer one of the best Hermosa Beach experiences. Food is good. It is not life changing great, but it's good. Calamari is a very good dish and burger is good. Servers are pleasant. It's not a fast service, but the ambience is nice, and you are right on the beach! 3.43576 stars Vista! We had a surprisingly nice and lazy Monday lunch here. The menu is Asian inspired (?). I think. Of the appetizers that we shared, I liked the jumbo lump crab & yuzu guacamole ($19) with lavish chips best. The lavish chips aren't the only lavish thing about this dip. Who knew that guacamole and crab belong together? While the crab doesn't add a ton of flavor to the guacamole - textually it's really nice. We also ordered the katsu calamari fries + togarashi aioli ($16) which was fine, but nothing to write home about. I also shared the chicken sandwich ($18.00). The sandwich comes with a generous piece of fried chicken coated in a sticky sweet sauce that has hints of fish sauce. It also comes topped with pickled cabbage and kewpie mayo which helps mitigate the otherwise strong flavors. The first bite was fantastic, however, each subsequent bite was a little less exciting than the first. The sweet sticky sauce was a bit too much for my preference after a while. I also found the sandwich to be a little difficult to eat - proportionally too big to bite and too sticky to hold. Vista has prime beachfront view. The patio furniture, however, is a little worn and could use a little tlc. Because it's situated right next to the boardwalk, you are also subjected to solicitors - dudes trying to sell me a husky while I enjoyed my meal. In any case, I'm sure it's quite nice in the evening as you sit with a cocktail next to a fire pit. I'd come back. There's more to explore on the menu and the location is prime. read more

Gorgeous. The location is perfectly situated on the Hermosa pier and the Strand for people watching. The patio has various tables from romantic tables for 2, to party sized cabanas with fire tables. At first I thought it was just a bar, but then heard about the food. Their food are elevated- gorgeous creations, almost too pretty to eat. Everything we ordered was beautifully executed and perfectly seasoned, which was so unexpected for the super touristy location. Service is super beach friendly, and very attentive. Extremely busy. Bar tender was curt, fast paced, not people friendly but rather just trying to fill as many orders as fast as possible. There were so many people trying to order that it took 35 min just to get our drinks. The lounge outside was comfy, had live music. If you got the sofa or picnic bench seating for a large group it was comfy but if you got a table on the side it wasn't as comfy since the seats were hard. Great view of the sunset and beach volleyball courts. Live music was great because it was live but the singing wasn't that good but more of a drunk vibe sing until your heart's content vibe. Played a lot of American dive bar songs eg. Sweet Carolina, I love rock and roll, we will we will rock you...etc. The food looked absolutely delicious especially the huli huli chicken tulips (which looked kind fried chicken glazed lollipops) , yuzu crab guacamole with puff chips, fried mochi atop tuna sushi (which was just crispy tuna sashimi rice). The hazy IPA here was delicious would 10/10 get again. The prickly pear cocktail looked beautiful and was so strong but flavor wise it was both strong and a bit too fruit juice sweet. came by for a hair of the dog on an absolutely gorgeous 70 degree New Year's day morning. beach and pier were bustling and Vista's outdoor area was just as lively. kids, dogs, tourists and locals alike. engaging the warm California Sun is the what dining here is all about. unfortunately, that's the culmination of a visit here. staff were ok, but, generally absent during our time. from servers to food runners to busboys, there was a lack iof attention to patrons. maybe they too needed a hair of the dog. i noticed this desire for acknowledgement with others who were seated around us as well. price points, while understandable due to location, location, location, were higher than their counterparts in the vicinity. food was ok, they offer a kids menu. i'll probably be back for drinks and to get a dose of Vitamin D. just gotta plan to grab my own drinks from the bar. read more

The live music also added to the ambiance. The most confusing part was the service. We didn't have a designated server and when we tried to ask for help, we were directed to another server. All the servers were sweet and helpful, but we did a lot of waiting to put in our order for drinks, food, and ask for the check. The food was ok. The pasta I got had a great amount of lobster but lacked in flavor. It wasn't bad but it was missing something. Friends got a salad and fries and they said it was fine. Their indoor seating is more intimate but if you are going to come here, I'd sit outside. I would definitely come back and try some new dishes though. Chilly evening, but the fire pits are always welcoming. Very disappointing it took 15 minutes before a server approached us. Honestly, this place has the best "vista." You can sit at the patio for a glorious view of the Hermosa pier. The patio is dog friendly which could be a plus or a minus depending on your stance with dogs at restaurants. The service was just okay but not super informed about the mocktails. They didn't bring out the food like most restaurants (so people get their entrees at the same time and there is a gap between the apps/small plates). The server was just line "we make the food from scratch so it comes when it comes." Onto the food.... We ordered two small plates, a salad and brunch option. 1) monkey bread - would not order again. They felt like King's Hawaiian rolls (not the sweet bread) just split down the top dabbed with butter and overly sweet shredded coconut. 2) crispy cauliflower bites- batter was thick and heavy, and a tad greasy. Wouldn't order again. Looked nice though. 3) avocado toast- my Mrs. Yelp enjoyed it about 15-20 minutes after I had my entree salad. 4) Steak Nam Khao Salad - delicious. It's a spiralized carrot salad. Steak was tender and cooked perfectly. I'd order this again. 5) mimosa - tasted fine per Mrs. Yelp 6) orange dream mocktail - flavorless. Felt like watered down OJ. It was quite filling and very tasty. Easily enough to split between a couple of light eaters. Order it with a beer or two and you've filled the tank for your afternoon. Enjoy Vista for what it is. An absolutely wonderful experience. The vibes are impeccable at sunset, and sitting outside with a fire in the lowering glow of pink and red, made the perfect ambience for a birthday celebration. There were plenty of heaters as well as the fire in the middle of the table to keep us comfortable. The food was amazing! We started with the heart of palm salad, and the monkey bread that was gifted to us for my friend's birthday. Heart of poem was delicious and refreshing while the monkey bread was buttery and warm. I was a little bit, disappointed with the monkey bread because I was expecting more cinnamon and sugar. However, I wasn't mad at the Hawaiian rolls topped with coconut shavings, despite thinking it slightly misleading. For appetizers, we got Yuga fries and calamari. The Yuca Frites were deliciously crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The mustard aïoli that came with Yuca fries pair perfectly and was one of our group's favorite dishes. For the main course, we got the kimchi fried rice and the kalbi to share. I loved the plating of the kimchi fried rice, and the taste of this dish blew my group away. By far the best dish we had. While walking along the boardwalk I stumbled upon this restaurant because of a wonderful musical sound, who I found to be the guitarist Fleece Kawasaki. I went inside to be greeted by the most awesome waiter named Danny. He was welcoming and made outstanding suggestions. I was alone but not lonely because he made sure I was well taken care of. Not to mention this spot has a primo ocean view. I enjoyed my time so much I returned on two days later to sit inside at the bar, mainly because Danny wasn't on duty. I must say sitting inside did not disappoint. My bartender was Brady and he gave me great service not to mention the drinks were excellent. I actually tried 3 new drinks suggested by Brady and they were all excellent. Lastly, I stayed so long I had a chance to see Danny again and in true Danny fashion he brought me a taste of a happy hour treat which was amazing. Lol) Regarding reception, not the warmest but ok. It took a while before our server took our drink order. He was a little sarcastic but ok again. While waiting for our friend who recommended this spot, our drinks arrived. We saw our server approach another table but he never came back to take our food order. Note: No Happy Hour menu but we were fine with that since the menu featured some fusion items I wanted to try. It was a long time of waiting. By this time we lost our momentum to order an actual meal. Another server checked in with us. No explanation that she was taking over or whatever happened to the first guy. At this point, we just ordered 2 types of fries. The sweet potato fries were unique and very tasty with a strong curry flavor. Our bill came out to $33 each including tip for one drink and fries. Could have easily been more and we would have had the opportunity to try some of the entrees. I think we were more frustrated by the lack of service as it wasn't that crowded. Been here multiple times for drinks and food, most recently came on a Saturday late afternoon for a couple of cocktails and appetizers. It's a great spot as it's at the end of the Hermosa Beach Pier and has a great view of the sunset and the ocean if you're seated outside. In addition, very dog friendly too. Did not have a reservation and it seemed pretty packed, however we only had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated. We were also attended to very quickly and were able to put in orders. I ended up getting the lavender haze (twice!) which is a great gin cocktail, wonderfully balanced and trends towards the sweet side. My wife had the Hugo spritz and the chichi, which she also really enjoyed. In terms of food, we only had a couple of appetizers. Food is on the moderate price side, but I do think it is a pretty good bang for your buck. The calamari fries were so nice, nice and crispy with a hint of lemon flavor and the togarashi aioli was also excellent. The shishito plate was also excellent and have gotten it multiple times and is massive for the price. Overall would recommend, I've had their food and drinks multiple times and haven't had anything bad yet. read more

This place has a prime view location which is why my husband and I chose it but we were very disappointed. We sat at the bar and were 2 of 4 people sitting there. There were 2 bartenders working the bar, they saw us but did not acknowledge us whatsoever. We waited about 5-10 minutes and asked a waiter serving tables for a menu. At this point one of the bartenders, a female, then asked us if we wanted drinks. From there drinks were okay and food was subpar. We had the smash burger and the bun was breaking apart as if it were old. The watermelon salad was okay at best. My husband was disgusted to find a stain on the top of the restroom that may indicate the presence of rodents, not to mention the employee who walked in, used the restroom and walked out without washing his hands. My bathroom experience was no toilet seat covers and no napkins. This place seems to cut a lot of corners and it is very evident. First and last visit. Do not recommend. read more
