We don't get out to this place often, but what keeps us coming back anytime in the area is the fun ambiance, the free peanuts and the delish pizza. We love a good thin crust pizza and Nick's always hits the mark on a piping hot pie, delicious pie. We have never had a bad meal or service experience, ever, at Nick's. The inside is decorated in a woodsy motif and is so much fun. The free peanuts are a nice touch, not many places do this anymore around here, and the meal just hits the spot for a reasonable price. We have mostly order delivery from Nick's, always have been very happy with the quality of food items. Pizzas is always cook just right, the crust is thin, and perfectly cooked, the Nick's special is very tasty, fresh vegetables, just enough sausage, and cheese. The breaded mushrooms, and chicken wing's appetizer are good too! The delivery guy is very thoughtful in servicing his delivery clients, brings a small bag of peanuts, Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flake packets, along with a dog biscuit for our dog! The extra touch goes a long way to show that even the delivery clients are prioritized in how they are being serviced. read more

this review is not about the pizza because i never had a bad pizza their. This review is about the the disappearing service. we were their the Saturday before Fathers day 2024 so it was a couple weeks a go. . We were seated and waited a good 20 minutes for someone to take our drink orders and about 15 minutes later the drinks showed up. we ordered appetizers and it was an order of mozzarella sticks showed up 45 minutes a long time for some cheese sticks. We then ordered our pizza large pineapple pizza and small cheese sausage and mushroom pizza. Ordering the pizza was fine but it took 1 hour and 20 minutes to receive our pizza at the table. But from the time we ordered and the time we received the pizza never saw our server until we received our pizza not even to see if we needed refills on our drinks. that was the worst service i ever experienced at nicks. i don't know what went haywire but i hope this is not the nor. I didn't mention that we were their during the lunch service. read more

This place is so nice. Finally dined in because of the car show they put together. Inside the décor is so awesome. Really liked it all. Service was nice. Except even though Nancy was nice and attentive, she brought me the check too fast and I wanted desert. So that was a bit of a bummer plus it always makes you feel like ok get out now. We went here on 5/20/23 and ordered beer nuggets, "meatza pizza - double dough" and a couple beers. All in about $60. What we received was 2 beers - $15, no nuggets ($0), and a pizza ($35!) that looked like something that was Digiorno. The double crust was INCREDIBLY thin and when I asked to speak to the manager, I got the owner, who told me this is the only way you can make this type of pizza, because there is "so much toppings". FALSE. It looked like thin crust with a rolled edge. Pizza Hut has had thicker ones for decades. Complete garbage. To top it all off, the pizza has bacon as a topping...they literally put strips of bacon on the top (like an after-thought)...this is so weird! DO NOT ORDER the double dough - complete ripoff. If you want better pizza - Lou's, Barones in Carpentersville, or make it at home...even frozen would have been better. read more

I've worked in Elgin for years and have heard about Nick's Pizza & Pub (can't remember if it was good or bad) so decided to try it. I can't comment on the pizza but the other food was terrible. The fish and chips weren't thoroughly cooked. The balsamic dressing is gross. Dead animals on the walls. The staff was neutral at best. Surcharge for using a credit card. Visited here with a group at noon on a Saturday after we were all at a morning workshop. Our service was fine, nothing remarkable. Our server, Morgan, handled our orders skillfully, and when I asked if we could add a table to allow all of our group to sit together she quickly carried over an extra small table. But at the end when she brought a single check and we requested that it be split (we thought she already realized this, based on things we said previously), her mood changed. When she got back with the checks, she literally tossed each plastic check tray on the table in front of each of us. Her tip from me decreased by a couple percentage points thanks to that action. My husband and I ordered a thin crust medium Meatza (meat pizza) to share, and it was quite good. I've never seen bacon laid in full strips on a pizza, versus crumbled, but I really enjoyed it this way! We weren't given place settings, only napkins. I would've liked to have had a place setting to use to eat my pizza, but our server wasn't in sight for a few minutes after the pizza was delivered, so I went ahead and ate it with my hands, which was a bit messy. The decor is cool - a large vaulted ceiling, a large fireplace at one end, very rustic looking and pretty. I also enjoyed the bowl of peanuts, and I always like it when we are encouraged to toss the shells on the floor. Overall it was a great experience. I wish we had this location closer to home, but when we're in or near Elgin we will definitely consider stopping here again. read more

The weather outside was becoming frightful, but the fireplace at Nick's was delightful! The outside of Nick's is the snow storm looked made it look like a little log cabin. From the inside, it felt like we were at a cozy house party. The winter wonderland backdrop only added to the wooden cabin feel. The Hawaiian pizza and Mexican pizzas were yummy and the drinks were fantastic. The servers and bartenders were all extremely friendly. I decided to take a walk around Nick's rather and all of the servers were very friendly and talkative. I loved the Christmas decorations throughout the restaurant. Overall, it was a very homey experience. I also saw that Nick's has some awesome specials throughout the week... for example on Tuesdays they have 1/2 price carry out pizzas. Pizza review only.....it was the absolute worst pizza I've had. Sorry. Double dough.....you don't put sauce rolled up into the outside crust. The crust was paper thin with 8lbs of cheese. The food is terrific and didn't take long to come out. The service was terrible though. They sat 4 of us at a very small booth next to a window. With 2 pizzas in the table we barely had room to eat. We had to get up and ask for utensils. Asked for a side of ranch dressing that never came. Let me start with I love your pizza and fried mushrooms. But you never have delivery drivers. I've tried to order delivery multiple times but never end up with any food because you can't deliver. No drivers. Lou Angelos, Rosatis, Riverside - they all have no problem with delivery and drivers. Loosen the purse strings and offer drivers better pay. Sadly until you do your gonna lose mine and a lot of other delivery orders. read more

This place was a huge disappointment considering how high the ratings were. I wasn't expecting deep dish Chicago style pizza or anything but still in comparison to the cheaper pizzas I've paid for this was definitely not worth its price or title. I admit the place had a cool feel to it with all the random decorative aspects. There are fish tanks next to your tables, geese hanging over your head, and this really huge door that you have to walk through to get in. The pizza pictured here was Nicks Special. For starters it's a thin crust pizza that was burnt on the edges. The only thing I was glad about was the fact that we ordered the individual size that's supposed to feed only 1 person. The appetizer we chose was the deep fried cocktail shrimp. This was slightly better cos it actually tasted like it had some flavor. The drinks on the other hand were pretty decent. This is where I learned I'm not a fan of Bloody Mary's. There was nothing wrong with the way they made it, I just prefer tomato as a soup and not the juice. On tuesday nights the Long Island iced teas are $4 each usually running at $8 per alcoholic drink. Wouldn't want to come here again for food. Maybe for drinks tho read more

My family were in Elgin for event, and visited Nick's Pizza & Pub for the first time. We ordered the taco pizza. It was the best taco pizza we ever had. It was spicy, but too spicy. The cracker crust crunched with every bite as it should. When visiting Elgin, I highly recommend Nick's and their taco pizza. I'd also like to give props to our waiter, Frank. We has attentive, personable and conscientious. I had inadvertently left my credit card behind. When I returned 30 minutes later, he remembered me, knew exactly why I returned and retrieved my card promptly. I hardly had to say a word except "Thank You." Well done, Frank. read more

Went last night with our family, Ordered a simple meal and 2 pitchers of Coord light beer. Got our check and they charged us $18.00 a pitcher. We could not believe we paid that for A pitcher. I go to this restaurant for take out at least 2 times a month. The pizzas that I have been getting the last couple months have been absolutely delicious. What's the point of posting signs requiring masks if you aren't going to ask patrons entering to put on masks? Kinda silly.

Mediocre exemplifies this resultant. The onion blumes could be much better, the bloody Mary's and margaritas taste like slightly flavored water. The pizza is the only thing slightly above average here. For being a staple in Crystal Lake, you should step up your game and elevate your menu, offerings and quality of food and service. read more

We stopped in on a Sunday sort of late but we were welcomed at the bar (our preferred) by the most friendly bar tender/server. We tried the Nicks special and wow was it good. Our server (please forgive me bc I am 100% sure but I think his name was Luís) was so kind and gracious while dealing with a very unpleasant person at our table. We were SO embarrassed and feel terrible about the way the person at our table spoke to him and some other staff members. Most of my kids and I have all worked in the foodservice industry and we know how awful it feels to get treated poorly. We apologize. Have been coming to Nick's for probably 12 to 13 years. Never have been disappointed. They make the best thin crust pizza, have a wonderful staff and the atmosphere is fun. They just added some new items to their menu. We tried the calamari with garlic aioli dipping sauce.....OMG....it was soooo good.
