I've gone to nicks smog when it was in mission hills. I've gone there serval times during the course of the year having 6 cars. Each time I've gone I was given reliable, excellent customer service. Sadly, I'm downgrading my review a couple stars for a lesser customer service experience on my return. Nick had said that since my battery had recently been dead, the machine couldn't pass me until I put about a hundred miles on the car even though the emissions were fine, but that I could return for unlimited rechecks until I passed. He neglected to mention that this was only within 30 days, which I could easily have managed had I been aware. It did take a few months to get 100 miles on this spare car, granted, and I should have opened the PDF receipt he emailed and read the terms were actually 30 days for the recheck. But, it was a disappointing experience when I: 1) Was told he would message me a coupon and he didn't 2) I confirmed with him in advance that I could come for the recheck. 2) I found that his "new location" that he sent me to was a different shop, different name, with a worker who acknowledged that Nick had sent me for recheck and then presented me with a surprise $65 bill for service, per the owner who was apparently not Nick but had spoken to him. After further discussion with Nick they agreed to $50, which I appreciate. And as I said, I bear responsibility for not reading the terms and relying on the verbal promise that lacked detail. But this experience lacked professionalism, customer service and warmth, hence the downgrade from 5 to 3 stars. read more

I called and spoke to this guy yesterday and told him I would be here when he opened. He said great that's 9 AM. Now it's 9:25AM and I'm still sitting here waiting for this guy to open his doors. So far he's not even here. I already have a really busy day today, being thrown behind schedule by 20 minutes is not working for me right now. The mechanic next-door came up to my window and said "oh he doesn't usually get here until 920 later". I suggest you change your hours. Needed a smog check and took a quick internet search for places in my area. Called Nick's and he confirmed they were open until 6PM (the day before Thanksgiving no less!) so printed the coupon and took the car in on the way home. No waiting and service was quick and courteous. Technician was very clear about the certificate fee, which is standard at all locations. Paid $45 for a smog check in record time. They even explained everything they saw and pointed out a recent repair that he noted was done well (always nice to get a second opinion after the fact). Next time I need a smog check, I will definitely consider Nick's in the mix but I'll be honest, I'm a price shopper and if someone else has a coupon that beats their price I'll probably give it a try. read more
