I stopped in to treat myself and my daughter for Mother's Day and originally wanted to order ribs, but unfortunately they were unavailable. That wasn't an issue, so I decided on the half chicken dinner instead. However, after receiving the meal, I realized the chicken was not fully cooked. The cashier was very kind and , but when I brought the issue to the manager's attention, the only solution offered was to place the same chicken back on the grill rather than offering a replacement meal or another option. At that point, the meal was no longer appetizing to me. Unfortunately, I ended up throwing the food away and leaving. I paid for two full meals and ultimately only left with the tenders. Horrible experience. I'm never going here again! I attempted to call in an order. I had to repeat the order and contact information FOUR times because the person answering the phone could not understand English. When I arrived, I attempted to pay with a one hundred dollar bill. I was told they do not accept "old" bills anymore. There is no signage saying this. When I told her I don't have another payment methods,she got on the phone to ask the owner and was told not to accept the money. Very frustrating! I can accept a company's policies, but I've been here lots of times (just last week) and there is no signage of this policy. This is a place I've been coming to since I was a kid and has great nostalgia, but it has changed for the worse, and I am done. This spot is one of the go to's if your looking for a good restaurant in Alsip, Illinois. This restaurant has good food with speedy service, and their eating area is very clean. My favorites from their menu is the Fish sandwich meal, Steak Burger meal, Gyro meal, and the Chicken on Pita sandwich. I also suggest foodies to get a side of BBQ sauce to go with your fries. Out near Alsip and hunger pains began, not to familiar with the area (currently) found the regular fast food chains, decided on Nicky'! Place had a Chicago south side vibe! They offered the regular fast food Greek style food (will try their half chicken next time) went with my favorite Gyro's with Fries. Staff was positive & patient, even though I worked it out on Yelp, I was definitely overwhelmed with their selections (they cater too). We ordered takeout for lunch yesterday from here, my partner did their 2 big baby special (hamburger with sautéed onions), and I did 2 pizza puffs with an order of fries. We also tried their baklava -- I quickly realized it was too rich for me, and I'm not a big fan of sweets that aren't cake, ice cream, candy or chocolate. I actually found this location by accident. On vacation with some friends to Chicago, we decided to try deep dish pizza at some restaurant. Well my GPS kept sending me in circles. And after much frustration and hunger, we decided this place looked good with the big lighted sign outside that said since 1970 or something like that. Well, that was a lucky move because we all enjoyed that moist, juicy, steaming hot chicken and left nothing but bone. Lol. I even bought Greek seasoning when I got home. We had never tried Grecian chicken before but the foil unleashed a lemony, tender creation that I can't describe. This was several years ago (maybe in 2009) but I'm still thinking about this wonderful meal and how it saved the first day of our vacation. It's a typical looking fast food joint---LOTS of signage for specials and combos, some seating indoors and outdoors. When hubby and I go, we always get the grecian chicken dinner and gyros dinner---these are pretty safe. They both came with fries, greek salad, and pita for the gyros, garlic bread for the chicken. The fries weren't that exciting---the usual frozen kind-----would be nice if they could kick it up to the fresh cut fries or even yummy oven baked greek potatoes would be a welcome addition. The gyros was pretty standard to what we've had elsewhere. The grecian chicken was on the dry side but we were hungry so it was ok once you lathered it into the lemony broth. My favorite items are the Big Baby and Grecian Chicken! Big Baby's are thin patties of meat and super delicious! Grecian Chickens have a great lemon butter sauce and loaded with seasonings. You can tell the chickens are super fresh. Fries are excellent and don't make it home! I eat them on the way. So I ventured into Nicky's to grab some hot dogs. The place has been here for at least 10 years. They have another location at 57th & Kedzie. Anyway, the dogs are usually pretty cheap and the fries are good. I ordered a #10 which consists of three dogs and a large fry. The dogs were ordered "plain." I also ordered a second #10. The dogs in this order were to be "no onion." In the meantime, Jabba the Hut comes in with a bag of food that was apparently recently purchased. Jabba proceeds to the counter and complains that the order was wrong. The counter girl tries to fix the order but then tells Jabba that they need another buck and some change. (Hey, you guys screwed up the order. The changes should be comped. Nonetheless, this wasn't my business. I just wanted my hot dogs and fries.) I did take notice of the fact that the counter girl removed a bag of fries from Jabba's order and placed them back on the "food waiting to be served" counter. That's right! She took food that left the store, was likely fondled by Jabba, and brought back with the intention of giving it to another customer. Great. Real classy. Methinks that good health practices require that any food that is brought back be deposited into the garbage. I digress. Eventually, Jabba got his correct order and left. In the meantime, I kept watch on the returned fries knowing that there would be hell to pay if she tried to pawn them off on me. As it turned out, she placed the "dirty/used/returned" fries into another customer's bag who seemingly did not mind and left the store. Some ten minutes later, my order was bagged and I left. So what did I find upon my arrival home? Three hot dogs with pickles only and three hot dogs with onions only. Really? You screwed up an order so simple? It's not the guys in back making the dogs that messed up. It's the useless counter girl's fault who punched in "pickle" rather than "plain" and "onion" rather than "no onion." Needless to say, I was not impressed. So I leave it to fellow Yelpers: If you want screwed up orders and risk the potential of eating returned food...enjoy. read more

In the country's most segregated city, exactly where something used to be located is REALLY important. Almost more important than the food. Really??! This place has taken a huge turn for the worse. Nicky's used to be really good, but sadly has fallen downhill. This location is much different than their Kedzie location. This location is dirty, screws up my order almost always, and food is either always undercooked or overcooked. The people working there aren't very nice. We called in ahead to pick up, which was pointless, because there is one cashier, so you have to wait in a line of people, who aren't sure what they are ordering, to tell them your picking up an order that has been sitting as long or longer than you were in line.
