DELIVERY DRIVERS BEWARE! Rosie's does not start an UberEats/DoorDash/GrubHub order until you arrive for pickup. What's the point of placing an order ahead of time if it's not going to be ready for pickup? I showed up at the scheduled pickup time, only to be told they were just starting my order. This completely defeats the purpose of convenience. To make matters worse, I ended up waiting an extra 15 minutes for them to prepare it. Went it there 4 months ago the owner recommended giardiniera juice on the gyro, it was a match made in heaven. He added something similar to the menu. I had a taste for gyros and this spot popped up on yelp so I gave it a try. The portions of food at this place are huge so it's worth the money. I did have a gyro with fries, the gyro was cut and cooked perfectly. Personally I can't stand over cooked charred gyros meat, but Rosie's cooked the lamb just right. If you ask for any sort of modification to the order, even something as simple as no cheese on a burger, he loses patience and treats you like shit. Food: I ordered dine-in the chicken gyro special. It had about 4 pieces of chicken on it and too much gooey sauce with lettuce/onions. The fries came in white bag and were pretty good. Service: The guy behind the counter does have a bad attitude and he clearly does not want to be there. My favorite part of observing that guy was how he demanded the people in the drive-thru do their own math for the total. The most distressing aspect was how that guy treated the other employees. He was thoroughly antagonistic towards the kitchen staff and just belittled them in front of all the customers. (With all of the open jobs available, I cannot see why they would stay.) I gave this place a chance, but would not be comfortable watching that guy treat the other employees like that again. read more

This is my fast food go to because of its location,the drive thru and the food! Gyro,chicken gyro and polish for me. It'll always be one of these when I go there. I've never tried anything else because I'm always wanting those because they're so good. I only like my gyros,meat sliced thin on the grill no tomato. They've never failed me once! The prices aren't bad,they move the line fast,my food is always fresh and you get a lot of fries. I don't understand the negative reviews. Rosie's is a Southside dinner-late night legend. Everything is always so fresh and quick. The gyros are as advertised -- one of south sides best. The burgers I've seen complained about on here are the BEST little burgers that any local restaurant offers. Think Plutos tier, but better. Always will be a go to. read more

I came to Rosie's because I was craving a Hot Dog at 1am. It seems like a local favorite. I went in and ordered the Hot Dog Special. This is Fast food done right. Quick service and fresh food. THE FRIES ARE TO FOR FOR!! Better than McDonald's. While waiting, I heard Drive thru orders for the Gyro and Pizza Burger or and LARGE FRIES big enough for two or three. My Hot Dog Special is ready. I grab the bag and take a seat in the small nostalgic dining area. My FRIES were hot, but my Hot Dog was the problem. It was skinny and average. We had Gyros and fries. Cold from the cross town trip to get them, I won't hold that against them. I decided for gyro since we really didn't want burgers again. I suggested Rosie's based on its Yelp reviews, It offered drive thru service, and I didn't want my wife driving the distance to Midlothian for our favorite Nicky's. My sandwich looked a little small, but I expected it to be according to one review. With that in mind, I still opted not to get extra meat since it was a first time tryout. I wasn't disappointed. The abundance of fries served in an overflowing bag was delicious. My ice cold Coke was still icy good thanks to the styrofoam cup, compared to a large from Potbelly. The sandwich itself was neat and compact, like Taylor Swift, not quite the Megan the Stallion I've been accustomed to having. But in this case, size didn't really matter. It got the job done. Came in today to get a cheeseburger, pizza puff and a drink. The owner wasn't here one of his employees was ringing me up. The cashier seemed super high or drunk in my opinion. He tried to change me for a double cheeseburger meal but I only wanted the burger. After I pointed it out he didn't even know how to do the subtraction from the receipt. I had to do with myself on my phone. Of course he didn't bother to figure out the fact that I paid tax on the wrong amount also. He tried to give me $2.20 back which was the difference not including the extra tax I paid. It's not a matter of being cheap. It's the principle. These are people that are in charge of your business. A message to the owner. Your employees have to be able to speak english in order to communicate effectively with your slowly fading customer base. Wish it was possible to give this place zero stars! The guy at the drive thru window has to be the rudest person on the planet! I have never encountered this poor level of service not even at McDonald's. After I got our food I suggested he be a little nicer to the paying customers and the guy closed the window on me because he didn't want to hear it. To top it off we were missing a cheeseburger when we got home. I didn't bother to call and complain because they obviously don't take into consideration what their customers say. If you happen to be in the city of Oak Lawn and are driving down Cicero Avenue, you might come across a 50s style fast food joint called Rosie's Drive-In. While it may have been a "Drive-In" with carhop service at some point in the past, those days appear to be long gone. Clearly a survivor from days gone by Rosie's is a tiny little eatery with a handful of seats and tables on the inside, a public bathroom (not always a sure thing in a place this small), a small ordering counter and a drive-thru window. In stopping by Rosie's Drive-In I decided to try out the hot dog here. A few minutes after I placed my order the food was ready. The hot dog I received was a classic Chicago style hot dog. It came on a poppy seed bun that was soft and clearly steamed. The sausage itself was a skinless dog, well heated and flavorful. There were two nice sized sport peppers that one laid from end to end covered the entire length of the hot dog so that sport pepper flavor could be had in every bite. The pickle slice used here was a thin sliced pickle, that was a nice compliment without being too sour. The mustard, relish and onion were well applied. The only thing unusual about this hot dog was that there was no noticeable celery salt. The overall combination of ingredients combined with the proper application of them is key to making a great hot dog. And the hot dog here at Rosie's did this on all counts. While not the best hot dog I've ever had, it's certainly in the upper echelon. I am going to give Rosie's Drive-In a full five stars. An excellent hot dog at a fair price. read more

I came here at around 9:30pm on a Saturday. It wasn't crowded at all! I get tired of waiting in a line for a long time, so at least there wasn't a line. I heard about Rosie's Drive-In before, so I decided to try it. It's a bit small just by the look of it. There is a small dining room, so I'd rather do a take-out order. The service was okay. My order was served at a fast time, and the staff didn't give a harsh attitude to me. The only thing was that the chefs looked a bit upset and angry. Brighten up Rosie's! The food was pretty good! I had a gyro and a strawberry shake. The strawberry shake tasted pretty good. It had a good flavor. Also, it wasn't too thick, but it felt like a lot of liquid, and not that much ice cream. The gyro was really good. I liked the meat and the sauce, but they gave too much pita bread. It was good for two gyros. All in all, the food was pretty good, the service was okay, and this place looks a bit small. I might come back here. read more
