I came in to sit down and journal while on vacation in Lisbon. Good açaí bowls and very friendly staff. The space was very clean and there were lots of seating options available.

First meal in Lisboa was an absolute success. Nicolau's is right next to one of Lisbon's hostels. Which explains the amount of tourist who frequent (for good reason). We had a table outside because it was such a beautiful day. People were laughing and enjoying themselves, talking to neighbors. This place has a lot of energy. Food was really good too. They have a ton of options from breakfast sandwiches to salads. We spent a lot of time chatting with locals. Highly recommend stopping in.

The food and the staff were honestly amazing!! We were traveling and we ate there at least 5 times for breakfast and we didn't even bother eating at our hotel. The food was fresh, healthy and just right. The ambiance was just perfect! Warm and cozy, it made you feel at home. The staff! Honestly amazing! They made you feel like home and we just enjoyed their company. 100% recommend this place to anyone! Cheers to the amazing staff!!

Nicolau should be on your list for brunch in Portugal, there's a little bit of everything to choose from here, and their food quality is stellar. I would advise to give yourself enough time to visit as there may be a wait time. My favorite from their menu probably has to be their French toast, and their orange juice is delicious as well. The waitstaff is very courteous and attentive to help, which made the experience that much more pleasant. I'd definitely would come back.

Food was okay, not too special. The waiters honestly didn't seem happy working there/unmotivated & a bit rude. For the price it was somewhat okay, I think there are other brunch places that are worth their price nearby!

Attentive service and pretty good pastas, we went for lunch and it was not crowded The ambiance would probably have been better for dinner

During a 2 hour layover in Lisboa, it was recommended that we checkout this coffee and breakfast spot near city center. Thing neighborhood coffee shop with a few quaint tables, professional but warm and multi-lingual service. I opted for a breakfast sammich and a latte. Both came out well prepared and well portioned. Warm local artisan bread with eggs, Spanish ham, cheese and avocado. The latte hot the spot after a long flight and was reasonably priced at $1.8 EUR. Left the establishment with a warm belly and a warm heart. Just a great experience on a brisk Friday morning!

Very cute inside seating-- outdoor available as well

The ambiance was very cute and modern. Swanky I would call it. The service was very friendly, but slow (that is normal here, so don't expect a quick bite and to be off to your next activity in less than 1-2 hours!). The turmeric shot was delicious. And we enjoyed our Bowl do Frango -- it came with really flavorful purple rice, roasted sweet potato, and broccoli, and was lightly covered in a very good miso sauce. Over all it lacked flavor, but offered great nutrients and staying power. My iced chai was very bland.

Such a cute cafe. We came early and decided to sit outside for Covid reasons. The hostess offered to turn on the heat light and blankets. The menu comes in Portuguese and English. Our food was quick and fresh. The music selection that was being played was dope of top of the amazing service. I can see how this place gets packed so get there early. No complaints and wish them years of success!

Very welcomed healthy option after eating nothing but bread the past week! Got the tuna salad with black rice, mango sauce, avocado etc. and it was very good! What my body needed. My friend got the chicken bowl with the poached egg, sweet potato, rice and broccoli. I also got an aperol spritz and she got the nicolau cocktail (which was definitely more of a smoothie texture but really good flavor). We sat outside in the alley way with the cutest mint green tables but the decor inside was incredibly cute as well! Super trendy black and white photographs that I wanted to buy. Service was good. Nothing spectacular but also not upset about it either. Would definitely come back for a healthy meal in the heart of Lisbon!

Very nice surprise close to the Praca do Comercio. Food was delicious. Service slow but very friendly.

Surprisingly fast service, delicious brunch options and generous portion sizes. They also let us add extra poached eggs to our selections -- which many restaurants did not allow for menu modifications during our Euro trip. Thanks for letting us get that extra protein in!

That is exactly the "good" problem Landeau has as besides their famous chocolate cake, all they have are beverages, inadvertently making their sign outside with the proclamation "When in doubt, try chocolate cake!" kind of hilarious. Once you've huffed and puffed your way up one of Lisbon's stairmaster hills, the darkened and vintage feeling interior of this particular Landeau feels very welcome. Although there is ample seating for the size of this store, the ample line of people waiting to get in from the outside might make getting a seat difficult nonetheless. I do like the regular lattes here but let's face it, any beverage you get here is really meant to be a sidekick to the main star of the show, Landeau's famous chocolate cake. And it is indeed, the best slice of chocolate cake you'll ever have, and that is not hyperbole. Layered and textured, but pillowy and light, it's really difficult to describe what a beautiful heavenly experience eating a chocolate cake at Landeau is. It's like treating your mouth to the most sumptuous and comforting experience it's ever going to have when eating something and you never want to end. And for under 5 euros, it almost feels like a steal. I really do consider going to a Landeau one of the highlights of my trip to Lisbon and urge everyone to put it on their must eats here. Even yes, over the egg tarts.

What makes it special is watching the pastries being handmade right in front of you, which adds a level of freshness and craftsmanship that you can actually taste. The crust was super flaky and the tart was nice and warm out of the oven, but I didn't like the flavor of the custard. I did forget to add cinnamon to the top, but I don't think it would have helped me personally. The woman who stood next to me at the counter had a nearly orgasmic experience next to me, so it's obvious that my taste buds are apparently off. I loved the patience of the server, who got confused when I told her I wanted to eat in but wanted to take water to go. Note to self...Portuguese folks want to have their "to go" as "takeaway." What I also didn't know was that there was no place to sit!! I scooted down the counter just like all the other folks to watch the bakers prep the next gozillion pastries for the day. That was interesting. Then, I didn't know how to bus my dishes. I just left them on the counter like all the other folks and went away. I wouldn't skip going because of my personal taste buds, though. Enjoy it for yourself and let me know if you have a different opinion than I did!

This means I can now say who made them best, and more importantly, why. The interesting thing is, I didn't think the pastel de nata here were particularly great, on any dimension - fairly flimsy, doughy crust, with a pudding-like, drippy filling that was too sweet and not quite eggy enough. Don't get me wrong, I'd still eat them any time someone offered, they were still tasty, you just have a ton of options nearby, some of them notably better than the ones here. I also tried one of their fancy-looking cookies, which definitely looked fancier than it tasted. Was just a cookie. Dessert-wise I was unimpressed. They were also always fairly busy, which made ordering feel a bit rushed. So why am I still giving this bakery 5 stars, and why did I come back here a couple more times, including to get food to-go the morning we left, to get food to take on the plane with us? For exactly one reason, and it's a weird one: oddly enough, the samosas here are the best samosas I've ever had, and by a wide margin. You'd think the best samosas ever would come from an Indian restaurant or bakery, but nope, they're here. The other small savory food items we tried were also pretty good, but the samosas are the juiciest, meatiest, most perfectly bursting with spices samosas I've had. Who knew? They also had pretty solid espresso and pretty solid free-squeezed orange juice, but those aren't hard to find in Portugal (I miss seeing inexpensive fresh squeezed OJ all over the city... especially *truly* fresh squeezed, to order, from whole oranges. Portuguese OJ definitely was the best. Though obviously not *better* than other places you can get the same thing around - probably indeed the same oranges. Definitely better than anywhere you can get fresh OJ for a few bucks in the US, though, if you can find such a place. :p)

Funny enough, they do sell a decent number of other pastries that are pretty fancy looking, and have price tags to match (higher than other bakeries in town, or at least the ones I went to.) But I wasn't here for those, and if you're smart, you won't be either. Their pastel de nata are, or at least were as of ~3 months ago, 1.50 euro, which is very reasonable, especially for how good they are. Perfect crust, crunchy but not crumbly or dry, perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, eggy custard that stays intact after biting into it instead of falling out like pudding... and the perfect, marshmallow-y crème brulee torched finish. Great cortado, too, and very reasonably priced. It was fairly busy, but there was also a decent amount of space to stand and drink a cortado inside without feeling cramped (which was good, since at that specific time I was here, right when I got inside, it started pouring rain.)
