I had actually read on Yelp that this would be a good dentist to check out and it is close to my work so I decided to give it a shot. As I'm newer in town when making my appointment they said they took my insurance, could fit me in over my lunch hour, and I thought everything would be peachy keen. WRONG-O! I got to the office, gave them my insurance card, filled out the paperwork, and while the receptionist said they would check on my insurance the dental hygienist (Wendy) said I could come back. I looked to the front desk ladies for the A-Ok on their end to go back and they said nothing so I headed back. Early on I realized that this was going to take a lot longer than I expected as Wendy seemed to be off in never-never-land. She was taking forever...alright, I'm just going to say it...sometimes technology makes things harder, more complicated, and more involved than it need to be. Yes, they did have TVs in the ceiling to keep patients entertained, but I wouldn't need to be entertained if she did her job in the efficient and timely matter that she should have! Then the dentist came in and talked to me for like 10 minutes! Cool you might think as most dentists only come in a give a quick OK or we need to see you back in here for this or that, but I couldn't take him seriously as he talked with no conviction I was thinking "Are you REALLY a dentist or just a stunt double?" After the dentist finally stopped talking quietly (to himself it almost seemed) and my time in the office ticked to over an hour, Wendy came back in a said the ladies upfront finally got around to checking on my insurance and it turns out they DON'T take it like they said...or rather didn't say before they let me be seen by their office. At this point I was sooooo frustrated! I talked to the billing person on my way out who gave me a discounted rated because of the misunderstanding and I was livid saying "I would have never come here if I had known you didn't take my insurance. When I called to make my appointment you guys said you took it. I have dental insurance for a reason!" I told them to bill me and now am dealing with the back end of a stupid mistake at the front end. If they had any accountability as a business they would verify a patient's insurance before they are seen. All I can say is DO NOT GO HERE! read more

Before you implement new tech, you should know how to use it and what the norms are. They started using TXT to confirm appointments; but they don't know how it works. If you TXT me to confirm and I don't respond with C to confirm that means I'm not confirming my appointment. And don't send me a letter saying I should have cancelled 2 business days before. read more

I hate going to the dentist. I actually like going to MY dentist. Do you have any idea what an awesome feeling that is? DO YOU?! HUH?! I found them online and was impressed by their clean, informational website. I hadn't been to the dentist in four years due to lack of insurance, and had more than a little trepidation about hearing the usual: YOU TERRIBLE PERSON, YOU HAVE MORE CAVITIES THAN YOU HAVE TEETH! YOUR TONGUE'S FALLING OUT! YOU DON'T DESERVE NOVACAINE! FLOSS, DAMN YOU! etcetera, etcetera. Surprisingly, however, this was not how it played out. I went in and was warmly greeted by a cheerful receptionist who offered me something to drink - bottled water? Coffee? I passed on the offer, and waited to be called to the back, letting Lite FM wash over me in the cozy lobby area. Mary came out and was surprisingly awake and happy to see me. She gave me a tour, and had me fill out a bit of paperwork. Then Dr. Scott Osborn came in, and introduced himself (the other doctor is Dr. Jerry Conroy whom I haven't met). He reminded me of Stephen Colbert which put me at ease, and he had a great way of explaining things without being condescending or presumptuous. I liked him immediately. He was also with me on the No Pain theory. Anyway, no cavities ('cause I'm awesome) but I've been back a few times since that initial, free consultation, communicating with them via phone and even email about procedures - and the procedures were relatively easy, quick, and included TV, a blanket, and a warm towel for my face before I left! I've recommended them to all my friends, since Nicollet Station Dental does cosmetic work as well as orthodontic work, and basically anything you can think of that you might ever want done to your mouth. The receptionist also recommended CareCredit which has proven helpful though they aren't too expensive, and one time the assistant double-checked something she was worried about concerning insurance, and saved me a ton of money! After my 6 year absence from the dentist, I discovered this downtown dentistry near my condo from a postcard with tulips on it. (Probably need an update there.......wink!). The assistants are absolute dolls. They dealt very patiently with my rushing attitude and blunt comments. Not having dental insurance, they hooked me up with CareCredit (18 months interest free). Super easy and convenient. I told Doc Conroy that I wanted my front teeth fixed (they were chipped and a little crooked). He stayed late to talk me through all the options, while dealing with my 50 detailed questions. Oh Doc, you're such a joker but still want me to feel comfy and secure that i'm in good hands. I'm still not sure if they are crowns or vaneers but I most DEF have smokin' hot hollywood smile now. And I got a 15% discount for paying the total up front. I still have a bunch of cavities and they are working with my schedule to visit before work or during lunch. So other than the dough I don't have to spend on my chompers, Nicollet Dental is a 10!!! read more

Dr. Conroe and the entire staff are angels! They did an astounding, continuous job realigning my son's teeth with steady care and vigilance when other dentists prescribed pulling his teeth! The appointments are generally on time, but if they're late, the lobby is wonderful, with coffee and nice magazines to keep busy with. The dentists and hygienists are very nice and accommodating. I've had a bit of dental work done (not just check-ups) and they are very responsive if you're in pain. They have TVs in the ceiling that you can watch during the appointment, but personally that bugs me. I'm sure some people like it though. Reasonable prices for good dentistry. read more

This was my first appointment. Initially my appointment was at 8am. They were able to fit me in later that day when I missed it- long story. This was after I already rescheduled. When I got there, the receptionist was a bit robotic but efficient. The staff behind the doors though was very warm and freindly. Especially nurse Crystal. She was very thorough in explaining the state of my teeth and how it impacts my dental health. Dentist Jerry was also very friendly. Also taking time out of his schedule to really listen to my story and get to know me not just my teeth. Very clean and professional office, excited to find them. They are also very convenient if you work downtown or take the train as they are literally walking distance from the station (as their name implies). read more

I'm not a huge fan of the dentist, but Dr. Conroy and Sveta made things very pleasant. Also, my appointment was at 7:00 am, an extremely convenient time for those who work downtown, and everything was done promptly. I personally enjoy when the dentist is thorough and spends some time explaining things to me, and I think I learned more today than ever before. I was comfortable and felt that I was in good hands! The beautiful woman at the front desk was also incredibly helpful and personable. Overall, a great experience and I will come back. read more

I cracked a tooth on my flight from SF. I found Nicollet Station's office near my hotel and they were delightful. They squeezed me in late in the afternoon, found my insurance information on line, fixed the tooth enough to last for my trip, and were gracious and incredibly nice. After searching for a new dentist, I was so happy to find this place. My hygienist did a great job of explaining everything she was about to do in detail before she did it. They have flat screens on the ceilings to show you your X-rays and to watch tv during the cleaning. The dentist came in and was very friendly and thorough in his assessment and recommendations. I have been here four times for two issues and each time the dentists were great. The first was for a loose crown and Dr. Osborn explained why the crown was loose and what he was going to do (with my approval) to fix it. So he made sure there weren't any other issues looming and got things underway to replace the old crown with a new one. Little if any pain during the cleanup and installation of the new crown. The second time I went to see Dr. Osborn because I lost part of filling in a rear molar while clenching my teeth during a severe attack of sciatica. He checked and found that I managed to split the tooth. The extent of the split was severe enough that extraction was the only logical next step. He cleaned out the area where the filling was and put in what I call a temporary patch to hold the tooth together. He and the assistant then made sure I had the earliest possible appointment with Dr. Conroy to get the tooth pulled. Dr. Conroy also did a great job of telling me what he was going to do and both he and the assistant made sure I knew how to take care of my mouth and myself post-extraction. Again, with both Drs. Osborn and Conroy little if any pain. And everyone on the staff is personable while still being professional. They want you to be comfortable with the idea of being in a dentist office. For anyone who works and/or lives in downtown Minneapolis do yourself a favor and go see these people the next time you need to see a dentist. I'm glad I did! read more

They were polite for the second I walked in until the second I leave. I went and got two teeth pulled. I have gotten all my teeth pulled, so it wasn't anything new. They would stop pulling if it started to hurt very bad. That are an amazing team. read more

The service itself was great, but I felt there was poor communication about prices. The staff members were not pro-active in communicating about the prices and the insurance coverage, and I ended paying a lot more money than I planned as a result. I found this dentist through a postcard that I got in the mail. The postcard specifically said mentioned an offer of "$0 copay and $0 payment for check-ups for clients with insurance." Since my insurance was ending soon, I thought I would take this opportunity to visit the dentist before I lose my insurance. I was just going for a check-up. On my first visit, the hygienist told me that they would need to do a procedure called "debridement." Not knowing much about dentists, I had no idea that this procedure is separate from the check-up or that my insurance (Health Partners) wouldn't cover it. After leaving the office I was surprised to find out that I need to pay a "copay" of $180. The staff member apologized for the inconvenience and told me to schedule an appointment in a few days, which he assured would be a check-up that is 100% covered. I went for the check-up in a few days, and immediately after the appointment the person who told me that the check-up would be 100% covered asked me for another $165. On top of this, my Health Partners insurance bill said that the check-up wasn't completely covered because the dentist charged me in excess of what they consider a reasonable price. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is that the service itself was great, and every person on the staff was excellent and friendly. There are a lot of people downtown who can afford to pay a little bit extra for this service. But if this place is an "upscale" service, I hope that in the future it starts advertising itself as such instead of making what I feel are misleading statements about affordability (both on the postcard and in person) and then leaving patients with charges that they didn't expect. If money is no object for you, I can definitely recommend this dentist. However, if affordability is something that's important to you, I would recommend either being very upfront about it with the staff or just choosing a different dentist that's more affordable. read more

While the care I received was adequate, Nicollet Station Dental did not disclose that they were out of network for my dental insurance despite my questions prior to my visit so I received a sizable bill for my preventative visit. After following up with them, it took 3 phone calls before they admitted they were out of network for my insurance and that was the reason for the bill. I was told that they "never discuss in-network or out of network with patients unless specifically asked." The whole experience was frustrating and misleading. BE CAREFUL! read more

Everyone here is genuinely caring and courteous. The lobby has quick individual coffee and tea brewing machine (yay, the coffee's not weak and stale!) and is very clean, but comfortable with low lighting. The location is convenient, as parking is downtown is less than ideal, so it's great that it is right next to the lightrail station as well as just a block from several bus routes that go down Nicollet Mall. They take your coat for you and have better magazines than average. And the best part is how much they really do care. They have special programs you can enroll in to get more affordable care if you don't have insurance and they're not judgmental and preachy-I hadn't been to the dentist for at least 5 years (probably before I moved from Iowa when I had title 19) and when I told them that, they were very understanding of the whole "not having insurance" situation. After having issues with my previous dentist, I decided to try Nicollet Station Dental after receiving a flyer from them in the mail. Dr. Determan and the hygienist exceeded my expectations and were thorough with my comprehensive exam. Dr. Determan broke down my plan of care with me, and explained my insurance coverage. My previous dentist was always referring me out to pricy endodontists and oral surgeon, but Nicollet Station is able to do all of my dental work in there office. How convenient!! read more

They killed me with kindness. I am so upset with what I let happen to me at Nicollet Station Dental. I should have said STOP! from the very beginning, but I didn't and I can't believe I sat there for almost 2 hours with my mouth wide open as they counted all my teeth and gums and took more pictures than I ever thought they could. I went there with a specific issue, a cavity. I expressed this clearly on the phone when I made the appointment but it seems there was no communication from the front desk to the too nice dental hygienist and the also very nice (mumbly) dentist-some times you can't hear what he is saying, maybe he is talking to himself? I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that all this counting/picturing is needed, but is just too hard, and at any rate I should've have been told and asked that this is what they were going to do and how long it was going to take. I wasn't treated as an individual and I wasn't asked if I was okay while they were doing all this counting and picturing, maybe because since there is no pain, it is okay to have someone with their mouth open for almost 2 hours? but again I accept full responsibility, witch makes it a double whammy since now I feel I was taken advantage of and that I'm the bad guy, since again, they are so "nice". I'm starting to understand why New Yorkers say we are passive aggressive in the Midwest. If you go to Nicollet Station before you sit and open your mouth ask many questions and I hope you say STOP if you want them to, I didn't and I feel like an idiot. read more

Bad experience with this place. I walked in for my 7 am appt on a Friday only to be told that I was not on the schedule for that day but was on for Monday at 7:30. Apparently they changed the appointment and never told me. I didn't mix up my days, I distinctly recall requesting a Friday morning. I realize in the grand scheme of issues, a scheduling mix-up is small, but it's definitely frustrating. I won't be rescheduling with Nicollet Station and will give one of the other downtown dental offices a try instead. read more
