I spoke with Christy several times and explained to her we had suffered two major water leaks in our unit so ceilings, walls and the wood floor had to be replaced so there was dust everywhere. Based on this, Christy suggested we get a "post construction" cleaning, which she said would include wiping down everything, including walls, baseboards, furniture, etc. (I also asked for the kitchen cabinets to be dusted and for the windows to be wiped... which were added at an additional cost). Eventually, we agreed on a price and the work was scheduled.
The day of the cleaning came (which was a Friday)... We were told the crew would arrive between 8:30-9am. At around 9:40am, I received a call from Christy to say the crew was at the building's front door and could not get in (I have given Christy the door code days in advance so this would not happen...!?!?). I went downstairs to open the door and, to my surprise, it was not a team, but one person.
Let's talk about first impressions here for a sec... this person was wearing a skully over his long braids, which were hanging around the side of his face, dark sunglasses, which he kept on for a while, and had tattoos on both arms (I don't have a problem with tats, since I have some as well), but his whole appearance was, in my opinion, one totally inappropriate to enter one's home to do work on behalf of a company.
Eventually, we are in the condo and he pulls out his phone and starts taking video and taking pics of the entire unit and says, "so what am I here to do?" Wait! What! Apparently, he was not told what Christy and I had discussed. At this point, I am disappointed and getting frustrated. I explained to him he was there to do post construction cleaning. I also asked where the "team" was... he said the other person was pulled to another job so it would just be him. After taking his pics/vids, he said he had to go grab his equipment (at this point, he is still wearing his sunglasses).
Upon his return, he started playing music on his phone (Hip-Hop), which he ended up keeping on for the entire time he was at the condo, while family members and I were present... At this point, I am texting Christy about all that is going on... She said someone would call me about it.
So to summarize the cleaning, it was terrible. He, basically, just dusted on top of things and barely moved anything around (he did managed to break a glass kettle, which Christy did end-up replacing). I asked him if he was cleaning the 2 bathrooms and his response was, "the bathrooms look very clean!" We had to ask him to wipe down the light fixtures, baseboards, furniture and windows. Towards the end, he was doing stuff we did not need/ask him to do... like sweeping/mopping the floors, which he kept doing to, I guess, kill time since it was around 2pm by now... He finally left and, on his way out, had the audacity to say we should leave him a good review.
After he left, I spoke with some guy named BK. I explained everything to him and he said he would schedule another "team" to come back and complete the cleaning. He said he would follow up on Monday. Well, Monday came and I had to reach out since I had not heard from this guy (by now it was around 11am-noon). So, according to BK, he could have another team come by on Friday around 9-9:30am...
Friday came... around 8:30ish, I texted BK and Christy to give them the building's main door code again and, within minutes, BK responded to say they had to cancel the work for the day (apparently, one of the cleaning was sick). At this point, I am fuming... later in the morning, I spoke with BK and Christy and told them I was done and just wanted a refund... this BK guy (who, by the way, was useless during this whole ordeal) try to negotiate the refund, but Christy, who is the owner, and I agreed half is fair.
Christy texted me and said the refund would take 7-10 business days... well 7-10 days went by and nothing. I contacted Christy and she said they were slammed with work, but she had asked Shawn to process it asap, which he, obviously, never did. Christy asked me to give them another day... another day went by. I contacted Christy again and she said since they don't do refunds this was taking a bit long (good look trying to find anything about this on their website!!... I eventually did find some very vague sentence about "no refunds" in the FAQs section). I reminded her we had already agreed on a refund, which was in writing. The following day, she ended up sending me the refund via a pay application.
This entire experience was very traumatizing and exhausting, after dealing with the two major floods we had endured.
I do have to say, throughout the entire ordeal, Christy remained very professional, courteous and was a very good sales person (unfortunately for me, what she sold me was not what I received). Although the refund took some time, I am extremely grateful that Christy kept her word and refunded me the money. read more
