    Gorgeous coffee shop!

A new addition to Winder!!! I've been dying for a coffee shop to come work at and this doesn't miss. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The ambiance is very relaxed and homey. A place you can come and work from if you need out of your house. It looks like they have a private back room for meetings as well. I've been to many beautiful coffee shops but this one HAS amazing coffee. Most coffee shops aren't consistent and it's sad. But this one has hit every single time we've come. Come check it out! It's definitely worth it!

We have been here twice in one week! The staff is so friendly! They are very helpful and even helped us out when our little girl saw dad's marshmallows on his latte and wanted some for herself Thank you Prices are fair, I wish they had cookies or gluten free pastry options, but overall there are some nice food choices. The vibe is really chill and everyone was still chill even though we brought our little girl in with us the second time we went. We will definitely be making more stops here in our regular rotation of coffee shops. As always, please shop and dine locally as much as possible. Support Small Businesses

A really nice coffee shop. Had a good selection of coffee and tea. They have limited food options. They had seats and tables available. They also offer free WiFi. Overall the place was great and the coffee was delicious. Their breakfast sandwich was a hit. Can't wait to go back!

What a wonderful addition to downtown Winder! The coffee is fantastic, the atmosphere is cozy and whimsy and most importantly, the service is kind and caring. I love to support local coffee shops rather than large chains. Visiting here is a pleasure.

Cheese danish warmed is always part of my order, plus the lovely "London Fog Latte"

I am an ex-Elite Yelp reviewer and lost my status due to many years of inactivity on this platform. I am coming "out of retirement" to write this review. That's how wonderful Night Sky Coffee is. This local coffee shop in Winder is the thing we dream about or envision a coffee shop to be through TV and movies. The building boasts original wood floors and an eclectic variety of furniture and seating options. Does your group need a big table, or will a comfy couch be best? Are you solo and prefer a window seat by the antique radio? Or, do you want a quieter seat along the church pew towards the back? Whatever the case, anywhere I've sat (and many times for 2+ hours) has been noticeably comfortable. It's like the owners hand selected each chair, bench, table, bar stool and couch through a thorough and effective butt and back support test. Thank you. To clarify, the furniture is not "designer" or bougie at all and I wouldn't be surprised if most pieces were donated or found at a great deal via FB marketplace. But, this knick knack furniture is charming and most importantly comfortable. They have proprietary roasts and blends of coffee and their menu includes classic coffee and tea options (lattes, espresso, etc.). The coffee is noticeably delicious and smooth - VERY smooth. They have a wonderful selection of Hugo Teas as well. My go to, ironically because I'm a coffee girl, is their "London Fog Latte" with oatmilk. Talk about heaven! This latte comes served with a tea pot and you can request a re-steep once you're done with the first cup. I definitely recommend getting a re-steep. The Hugo Grey holds up beautifully in round two and isn't weak or bitter. They have seasonal concoctions too which are creative and most importantly delicious. I tried an "Earth Day Latte" that included espresso, oatmilk and lavender and pistachio syrup - guys that "Earth Day Latte" was out of this world (it left Earth)! I'm not normally a pistachio flavor person (I enjoy the actual nut but not the "flavor" that's put into desserts or ice cream), but the combination of pistachio with lavender and oatmilk makes for a floral and enjoyable drink. The staff at Night Sky is top notch! They are all fairly young but have personality, professionalism, hospitality and share a passion and knowledge for the coffees and teas they serve and prepare. The owners should be so proud of who they've hired. I love coming in and interacting with their team behind the counter. During my most recent visit, I knocked over my "Earth Day Latte" and it spilled on the floor, the table, and poured onto half of my dress. They gladly made me another latte and helped my family clean up while I wiped down in the bathroom. The staff is amazing and I am so grateful. What makes Night Sky a place of dreams (and TV/movies) is what it provides beyond the menu and service. There are not many charming and unique options for people to go to for creative and personal space. Imagine your writers, your students, your mid-life crisis overworked adult. We all need somewhere we can be present and just sit. Somewhere where there is so much to appreciate and enjoy while you just sit still. I have come to Night Sky to sooth me on depressing days. I have come to Night Sky on happy occasions with family. I have sat in different spots, reading books and writing fiction, eventually ordering $40 of food and coffee/tea over a few hours by myself. You see, this coffee shop is what I need it to be, so much so that I end up being there nearly every weekend. It is my self care. I am so proud and genuinely happy to write this review. Charlie and Millie have built a truly special place, hired and trained an exceptional staff, and have created a remarkable product. Congratulations and I'll see you tomorrow!

Night Sky features small-batch coffee roasted in house thoughtfully prepared by their fabulous baristas. They also have really amazing loose-leaf tea served in the most adorable individual teapots, and some nice things to nibble on (sandwiches, fruit, cereal type stuff) if you need a quick bite. The space has comfortable seating (some of the chairs are vintage UGA library chairs!); it's an ideal place to hang out with friends or work. The owners and staff are very friendly. This is definitely worth going out of your way to hang out at.

VOLCANICA 7/5/24…read more EAST AFRICAN COFFEE STATUS & OUTLOOK Based on the USDA's latest outlook, Africa accounts for 11-12% of the world's total coffee production, including 10.5% of the Robusta crop and 12.5% of the 23/24 Arabica crop. There are 54 countries in Africa, but only about a dozen produce coffee. While Ethiopia accounts for most of it, the high-quality specialty grade Arabica coffee production is limited to 6-7 East African countries, including some very small countries with problematic histories. Located in the equatorial coffee belt, East African coffee benefits from ideal coffee growing conditions, including volcanic soil, high altitude, climate, access to fresh water and tradition. Conscientious processing, disciplined coops and dedicated smallholder farms also play a role. Coffee is a subjective topic and while good coffee can be found throughout the equatorial belt, the acid rich East African coffees are recognized as the world's most distinctive. The traditional varieties and grade from Ethiopia (Yirgacheffe) and Kenya (south-central highlands) are particularly noteworthy and often compared. While some would include 100% authentic Kona (miniscule production, hard to get & subject to fraud), the best Tanzanian and the crazy expensive Geisha (Panama & elsewhere) among the best, the coffee from Kenya and Ethiopia is widely viewed as the world's most consistent, distinctive and recognizable. Regardless of source, it is important to note that countries producing the most distinguished specialty coffee also produce average or worse coffee. In a way, East African coffees are like finalists in a beauty contents, it's hard to pick the winner. The contest is also dynamic, i.e., this year's crop winner could be next year's loser. While the demand for specialty coffee continues to grow, small coffee farmers have been burdened by an exploitive value chain. Living on a few dollars a day, Africa's small coffee farmers have had little incentive to produce the low yielding crop. If impoverished farmers do not get a bigger piece of the value chain's pie, higher prices and a shortage of high-quality coffee seem likely. FINDING REPUTABLE RETAIL ROASTERS When purchasing country of origin coffee, the quality will vary by crop year, terroir, region, sub-region, botanical variety, grade, processing, storage, logistics, roast and freshness. Excluding effective auctions, higher prices may not guarantee a better tasting coffee. Storage and freshness are key because coffee does not age well. Indeed, assuming the flavor has not been compromised by logistics and storage, fresh green coffee has a 6-12-month shelf life while fresh roasted whole bean has a 30-day window. As the importer of these potentially fine coffees, IT IS THE RETAIL ROASTER WHO DETERMINES THE QUALITY AND FRESHNESS OF OUR COFFEE. Finding a reputable retail roaster with good customer service, a good menu of single origin coffee and consistency is a Herculean task. Given the limited shelf life, always looming new crop and roaster inconsistency, the ongoing journey never ends. Organic, free trade, direct trade, sustainable, certified, relationships and consistent buying all make sense, but coffee that shoots the lights out on the cupping table is really what the specialty coffee game is about. While there are exceptions, roaster websites are not generally well developed or organized and many do not disclose all the information required to make an informed purchase, including the origin, roast, ounces per bag, processing, etc. Some lack contact information while others fail to follow up on inquiries. Many also use a poor choice of colors and fonts that make the websites difficult to read. Fortunately, many roasters specializing in East African coffee provide more detail and organized information, including the granular source, varietal, processing, roast and roast date. Blends are being hyped by roasters and while they might be relevant to coffee drinkers, they are not very relevant to coffee lovers that already know what they want. Affordability is another issue because there are high-quality single origin coffees that are affordable and offer real value. Indeed, many blends are priced higher than good single origin coffee. VOLCANICA EAST AFRICAN COFFEE: As Good As It Gets Volcanica is currently offering nine East African single origin coffees, including the Kenya AA (Nyeri Hill Estate), the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe and the Tanzania Peaberry (Nitin Estate, Ngorongoro Crater). All are washed and roasted light or medium light. In addition to being among the highest quality East African coffee on the market today, they offer real value. Indeed, Volcanica's 16 oz pricing is less than what many of their competitors are charging for 12 oz. Volcanica's website is also developed, organized and provides granular details appreciated by coffee lovers. JBC has also done a good job with their website development and disclosure. I have chased

The view of Mt Yonah was stunning, the setup of the place was cool, and the ambiance of their inside/outside area was nice. My two complaints are that it got pretty cold in their glass windowed area- they had a small heater but it wasn't doing much, and they don't give free cups of water here. I'd recommend adding larger heaters and getting a couple of them, considering how cold it can get in North GA in the winter. I'd also recommend giving free water instead of requiring that people buy bottled water. If you were in the Atlanta area, not offering free water would be a code violation. Not sure if that applies here but just to be courteous to your customers you should be doing that. Back to the positives... I ordered a coffee based frappe with the "glamping" flavor (white chocolate and marshmallow) and I thought it was amazing. 10/10. I would definitely order it again. My order came out in a decent amount of time and the employees were friendly. The prices were reasonable and we found parking easily. I would happily come here again! I think there could be a couple improvements (the water issue is why I deducted a star) but if they address those few things then I'd think the place is a 5/5 :) I would come back! (And bring my water bottle with me lol)
