All decked out for Christmas and our table overlooked the creek. Our drinks were quickly served by friendly staff. The holiday drink menu was inventive and served in festive holiday glassware.

I ordered the " Scrip Reads Me" It was a good drink. It is has a heavy coconut flavor. Great location with outside seating on the creek bank. Server friendly and helpful. Happy that they give you a bottle of water for the table. Limited food selection. Service was slow

Fantastic drinks, good bar seating and very friendly staff. A good cocktail menu with drinks named after famous movie lines-- I went with "chlorophyll, more like boro-phyll." Also had some bites, including the super simple veggie dumplings. Solid spot

This review is for their tiki bar downstairs. The tiki bar was...not at all what I expected it to be. I've been to many tiki bars and they were fantastic - very well decorated, fit the vibe, and had really cool variety of cocktails. This one was very little and one could say, effortlessly decorated. They had some colorful lights on top of the bar and a straw shirt laid out on one wall and then a second room across that looks like a storage room turned into another space for people to socialize in. The drinks were also very pricey for the amount that you get. I honestly wouldn't recommend it but glad I was able to feed my curiosity.

I've been here before and absolutely loved it, but I have to recommend it again. I knew Sidecar had a rotating menu but I had no idea to what extent. On this visit their cocktail menu was inspired by an old "Mario the idea vs Mario the man" meme. It was hilarious, and on this occasion we tried the "why are we saying this?" And it was super good. I didn't try any of their rotating beers on this occasion as I am not a huge IPA drinker, but the Chinese takeout menu was killer, and the walnut shrimp was some of the best I've had. We also had the fried rice which was solid. Sidecar is always super chill as a bar, never quite reaching the same raucous volume of many other bars, which is one of my favorite things about it. Their staff always makes great recommendations. Sitting outside overlooking the river and having a few drinks is something I always have to do in SLO and I recommend you try the same!

I've been here a few times on different occasions and both the cocktails and the service never disappoint. They changed their menu from the last time I came and it was an interesting yet funny menu. The philosophy essay that inspired this cocktail menu was hilarious and fun to read. I got the midterm 101. It was very flavorful and had an intriguing mix of flavors- guava and curry syrup. I'd recommend trying it if you're adventurous with your cocktails. Great cocktail bar with quick service!

Awesome vibe. The seasonal cocktails are inspired by movies- Point Break merited two drinks, and arguably deserves a third as well, but I'll settle for two. They are terribly expensive, so be prepared to drop $17 if you want a specialty cocktail. Happy hour drinks are $12 and limited to a list of five slightly obscure classic cocktails. Note- happy hour applies only in the upstairs bar. Live music was extremely fun and the bottom floor has some great seating for a cozy chat.

I've been here several times for drinks and have always thought the little speakeasy type vibe they have downstairs vs the more restaurant /bar upstairs is awesome. They recently switched their food menu to primarily Asian food which is my favorite and I'd already tried their fries with the wasabi and furikake, this was their plate of the day and it was phenomenal!! The pork dumplings were also really tasty and I'm just really impressed overall with the food and service here each time I've gone.

The last time was during Christmas which it was Christmas on crack here but in a festive good way. I did get carded walking in, lol... We alway like to utilize the upstairs loft area for drinks. It's a fun spot with cozy lounge and chairs. You have the main communal seating area right in the middle where you can mingle with other guest. There's bar seating along the bar counter and two sections where it's like a private area with sofas along the wall. Somewhat a vip section upstairs. Cocktails are alway good. Same as last we came for the spicy margaritas and it was as good as we remembered. For the price, totally worth it. Let's say a few was had and a headache to prove it. Service was and has alway been great. All the staffs were amazing and very friendly. Even with all the crowds ordering, they were cracking out the drinks pretty fast. It's a full bar so whatever you need, I'm sure they can make it. The place is beautiful and well laid out. Main restaurant and bar downstairs. Along one side of the place is the bar. Both got dishes featuring short ribs, him the mac and cheese, me the entree with mashed potatoes. Pros 1. The pre-dinner cocktails were tasty. 2. The servers were very nice. Cons 1. Wanted wine with dinner. In the middle of California wine country they had only a handful of supermarket-quality wines. 2. The short run was dry and not very flavorful in both dishes. 3. The starches on both plates were not well-prepred. The mac and cheese was SO dry and the mashed potatoes were cold and lacked seasoning. 4. The starter or appetizer selection is quite limited. This wasn't a good meal, and it wasn't a cheap one, either. We won't be back.

Later, we decided to head over to Granada Bistro on the other side of the hotel to to get a table for dinner. The host let us know all their tables were reserved but if we wanted to wait for about 30 minutes they would work to create some space for us. Meanwhile they offered to continue drink service for us in their waiting area. Next thing I knew we were being whisked back over to Nightcap and Austin was back letting us know that he'd be taking care of us and our dinner orders. He sat us right back in the corner booth we had before we left, even though it was busy at that time. The meals were delicious, the drinks heavenly, and the service prompt and cheeky, just the way we prefer it. Thank you Austin and Grenada for a wonderful evening. We will return.

Say yes to the menu!!! That's the first thing that came to my mind when I visited Novo in SLO. Once…read moreupon a time, I saw this restaurant be featured on the iconic Check Please, so needless to say the award winning food speaks for itself and I was ready for this experience. I came into Novo with high expectations and my expectations were exceeded. Calamari: Who doesn't want Calamari on the Central Coast, for me it's a must. But can we take a moment to complement the sauces they pair with the calamari. Novo's calamari is paired with a tartar sauce and a sweet chili sauce. Definitely a first experience for me and I was beyond impressed. My taste buds danced because, whoever, is out here making many and flavor pairings for Novo has unlocked a new game mode for me. If you ever are wondering what appetizer to try, this right here is my first recommendation. Blackberry Ginger Cooler: The mocktail was beautiful and also a great pairing. I would love to try their other drinks soon. Matcha Strawberry Trifle: My mom, sisters, and I agreed on this dessert and let me tell you, I'm so glad we did. The matcha trifle had so much goodness to it we spent time trying to guess what flavors were in its profile. Think a berry chantilly from Whole Foods, but with matcha flavor and so fresh! Immediately after finishing my little sister said I had to learn to make this specific dessert and needless to say I don't disagree. It was balanced in sweetness, very light, and a great summer dessert. King Salmon: 2 please! The king salmon comes with Tabbouleh and green beans. This dish was my mom's and she was very pleased. One part of food I enjoy is not just the eating and experience, it's the aspect of reminisce in the flavors, analysis of the cooking, and trying to gauge cooking technique. For this dish, the salmon was perfectly cooked and it is not what we expected in the best way possible. This dish had so many different flavor profiles and wait until you taste the added kick of wasabi. Can I get another round? Korean Short Ribs: When I first saw this on the menu I was struck with asking myself how this dish might taste. It was one of those dishes where I thought, I have had plenty of short rib, I have had kimchi, but I have never seen them on one plate. More than that, I was hesitant as I like kimchi but not my to go to choice, nonetheless, I was drawn to this dish so of course I ordered it. Wow! Was I glad I did. My sister had the same order and we agreed the kimchi had such a nice kick to it. The spare rib was also thinly sliced making this dish easy and yummy. Now don't let that kick of heat scare you, I encourage everyone to try this dish. The rice sort of acts as a contrasting agent to help tone down the flavor and you just have to try it all together. All that said, I think service was awesome, then again SLO is a beautiful heart in California. But seriously we had an awesome waiter who shared with me the history of the restaurant. The story is also on their menu, but Nova's little sister restaurant is Red Luna and the big sister restaurant is Robin's Restaurant in Cambria. So good to know because I can now see how all this deliciousness connects! Big fan of these places and it's great to know they are one family. I don't think I have a favorite sibling of the three, but here's to another 5 stars for the middle child.

I had the Paloma cocktail and it was well balanced and beautifully presented. The chips and salsa were good but on the smaller size - salsas were flavorful and not too spicy. The beef plate was good with a mid rare steak (how I like it). Would've liked to see more guac on the plate and there were some small squash things in the vegetable mix that were a good sr flavor addition. I was able to add tortillas to my order which helped make the plate into some tacos. Finished with some churros which were warm, a good amount of cinnamon, and came with two tasty sauces. Our server was so nice and spoke about the area and made some suggestions of places to see. They were attentive to tables too which was nice in a full busy restaurant. Would recommend!

You walk into a place like Condesa and you know pretty quickly whether it's trying too hard or if…read moreit actually gets it. This one gets it. The room is tight. Not cramped, intentional. Low light, clean lines, just enough edge to remind you that someone here has spent time in Mexico City and came back with ideas instead of souvenirs. It hums. A young crowd, good clothes, better energy. The kind of after-work spillover that feels less like the Central Coast and more like a warm night in San Jose. Carefree, a little loud, and exactly where you want to be when you are not ready to go home yet. You sit down and the first thing that hits the table is guacamole, but not the tired, over-mashed version that shows up everywhere else. This one comes alive with thick, unapologetic slabs of pork belly chicharrón. Not delicate. Not subtle. Crunch that echoes. Fat that lingers. It is the kind of bite that makes you stop mid-conversation and rethink what the rest of the meal might look like. Then the enchiladas. The mole is dark and layered, a little mysterious in the way good mole should be. It does not beg for attention, it earns it. There is depth there. Chocolate, spice, something smoky, something almost bitter in the right way. The kind of sauce that reminds you this dish has history, not just a recipe. The enchiladas suizas come in brighter and greener. Creamy without feeling heavy. Balanced. If the mole is a late-night conversation, the suizas feel like an easy laugh that turns into something more. And the drinks are where the place really shows off. A passion fruit 75 that cuts through the richness with just enough acidity and sparkle. Then a hibiscus mule that is floral, sharp, and just dangerous enough that you finish it faster than you meant to. These are not afterthoughts. They are part of the experience. That is the thing about Condesa. It understands that food and drink are not separate. They are one long conversation. It is not trying to be traditional, and that works in its favor. Too many places hide behind authenticity like it is a shield. This place moves forward. It takes what it loves about Mexico City, the energy, the layering of flavors, the confidence, and brings it here without watering it down. You leave full, a little buzzed, and thinking you should probably start going out more on weeknights.
