    Churros

This was a great stop on a brief trip to SLO. The restaurant is small but well kept and decorated. Came in around 7:30 on Saturday and were seated immediately. I had the Paloma cocktail and it was well balanced and beautifully presented. The chips and salsa were good but on the smaller size - salsas were flavorful and not too spicy. The beef plate was good with a mid rare steak (how I like it). Would've liked to see more guac on the plate and there were some small squash things in the vegetable mix that were a good sr flavor addition. I was able to add tortillas to my order which helped make the plate into some tacos. Finished with some churros which were warm, a good amount of cinnamon, and came with two tasty sauces. Our server was so nice and spoke about the area and made some suggestions of places to see. They were attentive to tables too which was nice in a full busy restaurant. Would recommend!

As SLO locals and Airbnb hosts, we decided to try Condesa. Loved the ambience, feels like you have gone back in time. My husband tried the mole enchiladas, which he enjoyed, the chicken was tender and there was plenty of Mole sauce. I am a taco connoisseur, so I tried the mole taco and the Pescado Asado, which is a grilled fish taco. Again, the chicken was tender and mole sauce was super rich and yummy, but they were stingy with the Mole sauce and the pickled onions, queso fresco and cilantro.... If there had been more of the fresh ingredients, it would have made this taco wonderful. The Pescado Asado taco was nice, but the fish was not cooked in any seasonings, so it was just fish and it was not Bass. As with the Mole taco, the fresh ingredients were stingy and would have added more texture and taste if there had been more. The corn tortillas were superb! I did not see on the menu that they are making their own tortillas, but the taste and the texture of the tortillas were spot on. The drinks we ordered were super nice, they definitely have the bar right. The parking sucks. The only parking available is on the street, the parking that is associated with the property is all "hotel" parking, so no parking is available for the restaurant customers.... This is a big stinking strike for this place, but look past the inconvenience and the "snub" to restaurant customers and give it a try.

Absolutely a must. Attention to detail across the board. Authentic guacamole and tortillas made fresh by hand every day. Menu is legendary across the board and every option is worthy of sharing (cause it's so good). Trust me. Pull up, and thank me later!

You walk into a place like Condesa and you know pretty quickly whether it's trying too hard or if it actually gets it. This one gets it. The room is tight. Not cramped, intentional. Low light, clean lines, just enough edge to remind you that someone here has spent time in Mexico City and came back with ideas instead of souvenirs. It hums. A young crowd, good clothes, better energy. The kind of after-work spillover that feels less like the Central Coast and more like a warm night in San Jose. Carefree, a little loud, and exactly where you want to be when you are not ready to go home yet. You sit down and the first thing that hits the table is guacamole, but not the tired, over-mashed version that shows up everywhere else. This one comes alive with thick, unapologetic slabs of pork belly chicharrón. Not delicate. Not subtle. Crunch that echoes. Fat that lingers. It is the kind of bite that makes you stop mid-conversation and rethink what the rest of the meal might look like. Then the enchiladas. The mole is dark and layered, a little mysterious in the way good mole should be. It does not beg for attention, it earns it. There is depth there. Chocolate, spice, something smoky, something almost bitter in the right way. The kind of sauce that reminds you this dish has history, not just a recipe. The enchiladas suizas come in brighter and greener. Creamy without feeling heavy. Balanced. If the mole is a late-night conversation, the suizas feel like an easy laugh that turns into something more. And the drinks are where the place really shows off. A passion fruit 75 that cuts through the richness with just enough acidity and sparkle. Then a hibiscus mule that is floral, sharp, and just dangerous enough that you finish it faster than you meant to. These are not afterthoughts. They are part of the experience. That is the thing about Condesa. It understands that food and drink are not separate. They are one long conversation. It is not trying to be traditional, and that works in its favor. Too many places hide behind authenticity like it is a shield. This place moves forward. It takes what it loves about Mexico City, the energy, the layering of flavors, the confidence, and brings it here without watering it down. You leave full, a little buzzed, and thinking you should probably start going out more on weeknights.

Wasn't sure what to expect when we entered and discovered that you order first then seat yourself. In this case, that process works. Extremely gracious hostess, Susie, helped us through the order process. The vibe in this restaurant is upbeat and invigorating. The food? Beautiful! The mole is loaded with flavor. Though they don't bring chips to the table, they will bring all the chips you want. Order some guacamole to go with them. The drinks? Done very well. Good people. Good drinks. Good food. This place is a winner! Cheers!

Carver is a fantastic mixologist...his lemon drops and margaritas were incredible, made with super fresh citrus that really stood out. We ordered the pork belly guacamole, and both were absolutely amazing. Everything from the drinks to the food was spot on.

The Taco Del Mar is one of the best seafood tacos I've had anywhere - including Michelin starred restaurants. And, the ceviche is top shelf too. The bartenders know their stuff and are a friendly close group. Fun place and worth a visit if you're in SLO!

The Cricket on the ice was a nice touch!

Amazing drinks and atmosphere! The drinks were great, a taste of Mexico City quality.

What was great: Ambience is cozy, really pretty and welcoming. We tried the Guacamole with pork belly, was great, super tasty with subtle spicy notes and a great distribution of onion and tomatoes. The ceviche was really good but not great, missing a hint of salt and overall freshness. The carne was really well presented. The service between Oscar and Sam was really good. The carne plate was really good, good meat, seasoning and overall doneness. Things were there's room for improvement: service ,we could tell from the get go they were understaffed and rushed, which takes away from the experience at the same time I have to say that once the place a bit more empty the service was great, maybe come at a later time? . The bar measurements were off on the drinks ( 1 oz is a big change in a cocktail), it happened only on one drink, nevertheless, it felt way off. The carne can use a side ( not the guacamole) to complement it, maybe potatoes? Overall, great place to go and try the food, highly recommended!

Rarely does a local restaurant make me hit the airwaves on all channels so quickly. I have no vested interest in doing so other than my love of food. But after my experience yesterday I really want this place to thrive. It's the best Oaxacan style Mexican in a few years here. I had the steak taco with a chili oil / peanut sauce, the sea bass ceviche, and a chicken mole taco. Everything was so good and unique. The spirits, especially the Tequila, were clearly curated by someone who knows what they're doing. No autoclave additives Tequilas here.. you will not be bored by endless bottles of Don Julio 1942, Clase Azul or Casamigos. We're talking Fortaleza, 1146 Nom, Tapatio, Ocho, G4, and on and on.... if you know what I'm talking about here, you're already sold. I did, however, just have a PERFECT rum old fashioned.

Everything went well at Condesa. The atmosphere was dim and speakeasy like. Very Clean. The food took me back to Tulum with the strong dark meat. I would highly suggest the ceviche for an appetizer. The bartender was great. I personally didn't like the taste of the drink and he comped it no problem and made suggestions. We will be back! Plus it didn't break the bank

Gluten free gang gang, mount up! The menu is clearly labeled for gluten, and most of the things are gluten-free. There are also a myriad of vegetarian choices. We had several cocktails (lol) and they were all delicious, but my favorite being the jaguar moon. The restaurant was absolutely popping, so it took a long time to get our drinks, but we didn't mind because there was great people watching. Just a heads up that the seating at the bar and in the bar area is incredibly uncomfortable for a long period of time, so my recommendation is to grab one of the outside tables or one of the inside cozy booths. We never got one of our dishes, so it may be worthwhile to go during off peak times, which the lovely and friendly Victoria recommended as M-W. The decor is absolutely lush and perfect for a date night. I'm looking forward to going back again!

The menu is a masterpiece of everything. there is a grazing menu, sandwiches, entrees, a forage menu of basic veggie presentations, and a bar with quite a few very cleaver offerings. Absolutely fascinating interior. Go inside to take it in. You will be struck amazed. Wife and I came in for dinner and were not disappointed. We felt the warmth. Specialty cocktails, draft beer, bottled beer lounge draft 16oz beers and wine by the glass. They also have some fancy custom non-alcohol cocktails. Everyone should be happy. Service was "on" but fulfillment was "off". Wait staff hustled but had to wait for bar and kitchen to come through faster. I don't usually order specialty/fancy cocktails, but was intrigued with a Feral Martini ($17). Got it and found it to be lacking flavor or anything special. It was watery and disappointing. Was surprised when I shared my feelings with our server Camille O. who took it back, credited it from our bill and brought me a replacement of my choice. Way to go! Had a Manhattan ($12) and wife had a red blend wine ($13.50). Now or our meals. Funny that we both has short rib entrees. Wife did the Taco 'bout Delicious ($21), which was short ribs with oaxaca cheese, cilantro, and a dip of house-made consomme. Like a French dip, but different. She dipped and liked it all. My selection of Braise The Bar ($29) was short ribs surmounting a mound of sage-mashed potatoes dosed with pickled onions, blistered shishito peppers (a favorite of mine) and fresh cilantro. An explosion in my mouth and truly yummy. Nothing served here is usual. Some very cleaver people spent a lot of creative energy to architect entrees, cocktails and the rest of the menu so as to be uniquely delicious. My Yelp! profile does not contain many 5-star ratings but now has this one for Feral. Give it a try and this would be a great first date of small group venture.

Wanted wine with dinner. In the middle of California wine country they had only a handful of supermarket-quality wines. 2. The short run was dry and not very flavorful in both dishes. 3. The starches on both plates were not well-prepred. The mac and cheese was SO dry and the mashed potatoes were cold and lacked seasoning. 4. The starter or appetizer selection is quite limited. This wasn't a good meal, and it wasn't a cheap one, either. We won't be back.

Once…read moreupon a time, I saw this restaurant be featured on the iconic Check Please, so needless to say the award winning food speaks for itself and I was ready for this experience. I came into Novo with high expectations and my expectations were exceeded. Calamari: Who doesn't want Calamari on the Central Coast, for me it's a must. But can we take a moment to complement the sauces they pair with the calamari. Novo's calamari is paired with a tartar sauce and a sweet chili sauce. Definitely a first experience for me and I was beyond impressed. My taste buds danced because, whoever, is out here making many and flavor pairings for Novo has unlocked a new game mode for me. If you ever are wondering what appetizer to try, this right here is my first recommendation. Blackberry Ginger Cooler: The mocktail was beautiful and also a great pairing. I would love to try their other drinks soon. Matcha Strawberry Trifle: My mom, sisters, and I agreed on this dessert and let me tell you, I'm so glad we did. The matcha trifle had so much goodness to it we spent time trying to guess what flavors were in its profile. Think a berry chantilly from Whole Foods, but with matcha flavor and so fresh! Immediately after finishing my little sister said I had to learn to make this specific dessert and needless to say I don't disagree. It was balanced in sweetness, very light, and a great summer dessert. King Salmon: 2 please! The king salmon comes with Tabbouleh and green beans. This dish was my mom's and she was very pleased. One part of food I enjoy is not just the eating and experience, it's the aspect of reminisce in the flavors, analysis of the cooking, and trying to gauge cooking technique. For this dish, the salmon was perfectly cooked and it is not what we expected in the best way possible. This dish had so many different flavor profiles and wait until you taste the added kick of wasabi. Can I get another round? Korean Short Ribs: When I first saw this on the menu I was struck with asking myself how this dish might taste. It was one of those dishes where I thought, I have had plenty of short rib, I have had kimchi, but I have never seen them on one plate. More than that, I was hesitant as I like kimchi but not my to go to choice, nonetheless, I was drawn to this dish so of course I ordered it. Wow! Was I glad I did. My sister had the same order and we agreed the kimchi had such a nice kick to it. The spare rib was also thinly sliced making this dish easy and yummy. Now don't let that kick of heat scare you, I encourage everyone to try this dish. The rice sort of acts as a contrasting agent to help tone down the flavor and you just have to try it all together. All that said, I think service was awesome, then again SLO is a beautiful heart in California. But seriously we had an awesome waiter who shared with me the history of the restaurant. The story is also on their menu, but Nova's little sister restaurant is Red Luna and the big sister restaurant is Robin's Restaurant in Cambria. So good to know because I can now see how all this deliciousness connects! Big fan of these places and it's great to know they are one family. I don't think I have a favorite sibling of the three, but here's to another 5 stars for the middle child.

Despite this, I was told I could not enter because the establishment downstairs had previously had "an incident" with a different service animal. Denying access based on a past experience with another dog is not lawful. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, service animals may only be excluded if that specific animal is out of control or not housebroken--neither of which applied here. My dog was behaving impeccably and performing their trained tasks. Loudness, past incidents, or personal assumptions are not valid reasons to refuse a service animal. This was not a misunderstanding--it was a refusal of access based on disability. I hope management educates their staff on ADA compliance so future disabled patrons are not treated this way. I will not be spending my money here and urge others to do the same based on their discriminatory behavior.

My husband and I have officially become Taco Tuesday regulars at The Mark--and for good reason. It…read moremight seem a little unexpected to find top-tier tacos at a bar, but as self-proclaimed taco aficionados, we can confidently say these are the best tacos in San Luis Obispo. We've tried the pastor, lemon pepper chicken, carne asada, pescado, and crispy pescado--and every single one has been spot on. They actually remind me of the authentic tacos I've had in Mexico City. I've seen a few reviews mentioning rude staff, but in the eight times we've been there, everyone has been nothing but friendly and chill. Bonus points for the pool table and the live music--we love the fun, relaxed vibe. If you're serious about your tacos, give The Mark a try. You might just become a regular too.

Bouncers working on April 10, 2026 were extremely rude and unprofessional. Instead of simply doing their job, they made unnecessary and disrespectful comments. As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of upholding rules. However, there is a clear difference between maintaining standards and failing to show basic respect to guests and this interaction reflected the latter. That kind of unprofessional behavior reflects poorly on the entire establishment. Management should take a closer look at who they have representing them at the door.
