It didn't matter, they treated us fantastically anyway. We had this butternut squash pasta that was so unique and fantastic I can't even describe. I absolutely loved it. There were these sweet crunchy bits attached to the ravioli that really added another element to the dish. PS I'm a huge foodie so maybe a less passionate person about food might not feel the same ha ha. Try the fried cabbage and bacon vinegrette. Meh. I was quite excited to try dishes here but was left unimpressed. Everything was a tad on the salty side and plates were quite small; however, they ARE technically tapas and are meant to be shared. I had lunch here with two other colleagues and ordered: 1) Summer Salad 2) Prosciutto Pizza 3) Rock cod 4) Fried chicken 5) Pork Belly Overall, the summer salad and fried chicken was the highlight of my meal. Summer Salad - comprised of succulent leaves with watermelon and some-kind of vinaigrette and I found it extremely special. Definitely felt like eating real greens. It's not something you would be able to get at another restaurant. It's worth trying! But I did find the vinaigrette a bit overwhelming, but if you eat it with the watermelon the dish is more balanced. Prosciutto Pizza was standard - thick crust, thin pizza. Rock Cod - Eh. Didn't leave me with much of an impression. Wasn't great, wasn't horrible. Fried chicken - Two thumbs up! It was extremely juicy and the flavour was delicious. We were served 6 pieces total. Pork Belly - The flavour was interesting and was definitely unique. It was cooked well but the cut of meat was too fatty for my preference. Compared to L'abattoir, I definitely prefer the latter which had the crispy pork skin and an equal blend of fat and lean pork. At Nightingale, just expect at least an inch of fat with a centimetre of lean meat - overall this cut of meat made the dish too filling and rich. We just ate one piece and left the rest. Service - Our server was great. She was friendly and offered good suggestions and left us the menu as if she knew we were add a salad to our order! There was another host/server that helped us to our table and assisted our server with clearing up our table but he was not very friendly. His tone was professional but he just looked annoyed with us after we told him we did not prefer a high-top table (since one of our party members is pregnant). I also did not finish my portion of the summer salad and when he cleared the dish he made a face. Perhaps I had offended him for leaving a large portion- but I felt judged super judged :X Eek. We ordered pickup from Nightingale, and I was really impressed! It was quick and easy to set it up over email. The fried chicken, beet salad, Brussel sprouts and risotto were all incredible. Let me tell you about the pot de creme sneaking in at the end of this meal! It was the perfect balance of a punch of insane flavour and still felt light for a dessert. This blew my mind, and I wish I had more. I debated cutting the container in half just to savour what I didn't get with my spoon. Used to love this place for the variety of dishes, great service and the atmosphere. This time the food was unbearably salty ((( I ordered Cauliflower appetizer and pizza. Count even eat it. Aburi tuna doesn't come on rice, it come on avocado. Which is not a problem. But all of it was sitting on a bed of lots of soya type sauce, which destroys the flavour of delicate tuna fish flavour. Went to Nightingale for a birthday dinner celebration - party of two. The ambiance is lively and the decor is really trendy with origami inspired birds featured on several walls. The casual walk in dining appears to be in the bar section on the entry level floor while the reservation tables are up on the second. We were greeted right away and were taken to our table in a timely manner. Our table was upstairs along the balcony edge, overlooking the downstairs...sound travelled up a lot to where we were but it was totally fine given the nature of our dinner. Our server was Keegan and he was perfectly attentive. Although the restaurant had a sommelier (or someone of the like), we weren't ready for her at the time she approached. We were however, impressed that Keegan was able to give clear descriptions on our flavour based questions not only in terms of food, but in terms of wine/bubbles too. It was more convenient for us to speak with him as he was our main server and checked in more frequently until we were ready to order. For dining, it is suggested to share all dishes. This is great because it means you get to try more items in one visit. To drink, we ordered a bottle of the Cowichan bubbles which tasted a little more like an apple based cider than a traditional Champagne/Prosecco/Bubbles etc drink. For dinner, although it's not one of the dishes we were recommended by our server (I've eaten here more than once and never has it ever been a suggested dish), we ordered the black truffle Parmesan risotto. It ended up being our favourite dish of the night! the flavours of Parmesan cheese and truffle combined were absolutely amazing - we actually wanted to order another haha! We also ordered the buttermilk fried chicken, the grilled pork belly with apple slices and a bourbon glaze, and the marinated beets with orange, sherry vinegar, and hazelnuts. The fried chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and so juicy on the inside; the spiced maple syrup added a nice and different flavour component as well. The grilled pork belly with the bourbon was so delicious. I could have done without the apple slices, but I get that it is to add a light, fresh factor to the meatiness of the dish. The beet dish was served cold with orange slices and the dressing was sharp, and puckering (in a good way) in flavour - it provided the perfect flavours to signify the end of the meal. For dessert we sipped on some port and enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding and the salted caramel pot de creme. They even put a candle in the pot de creme to make it really feel like a birthday meal! Both desserts were really good. The toffee pudding had more textural variety in each bite because it was a combination of the sticky toffee pudding itself (cake type texture), ice cream, bourbon butterscotch sauce, candies pecans, and what seemed like a like thin crisp layer of sugar casing "cake" bit. The pot de creme did have some texture with the salted caramel crumb (which was so good), but the rest was one note in terms of texture...but to be expected when you're ordering a pot de creme. That said, it was super flavourful and silky. Overall the experience was really positive and I highly recommend. They are a great spot for larger parties resos (8-10 ppl), but also really great for a night out for two! Loved dining at this restaurant. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful in deciding what to order. I had a lot of questions about the menu and they couldn't have been more patient and kind walking me through it. The drinks were excellent and the pizza is incredible. Even if you aren't into wine (like myself) they have great options to choose from with beer and cocktails. I had the Bramble which was excellent. Hugh ceilings, downstairs and upstairs seating, gorgeous bar and a great place to have excellent food and people watch. The restaurant was packed but we were still able to get a table without waiting long. The servers were so helpful explaining dishes and pointing us in the right direction. There are so many good things to choose from! We ordered the following: Kale Salad - It was a nice salad but there were other salads that we should have went with instead and our server tried to nudge us in the right direction but we were stuck in our way and ordered it anyway. I wish we would have tried the apple salad like she recommended. More unique, you can get a kale salad almost anywhere. Brussels Sprouts - Perfectly cooked and tasty. While we enjoyed them, I might try something different on my next visit since Brussels are also kinda played out on a lot of menus. Lamb - Would definitely order again! They were so tender and flavorful. It had a few different sauces and was topped with some crispy sesame seeds. Buttermilk fried chicken was delicious, tender and had great sauces! Butternut squash tortelloni - My favorite dish here. Perfect amount of filling to pasta ratio and nice and saucey. Carmel Pot De Creme - Probably one of the best desserts I've ever had in my life. Hubby and I were surprised to see the prices of the dishes to be more affordable than we expected them to be, given it was a Hawksworth restaurant, but throughout our lunch, we were able to figure out why they were priced the way they were. We didn't order much, because both of us can't eat as much as we did before these days. We ordered: (1) Russian kale salad, fennel, lemon, chili, ricotta salata ($16.00) (2) N'duja, fior di latte, san marzano, charred rapini ($17.00) (3) Charred lamb chops, red harissa, mint charmoula, wild rice dukkah ($22.00) I had a real difficult time choosing between the lamb chops and the steak, but in the end, I decided to try the lamb chops because (a) hubby and I both really enjoy eating lamb, and (b) our server also recommended the dish to us as well. The portion size of the lamb chops was small - only 3 lamb chops, but we still decided to try them. We were originally going to order another dish, but I was hesitant as I wanted to save room for dessert, so we decided to start with 3 and see. I realized that no complimentary bread was given - just a note. The salad was pretty large in terms of size, and its portions were great for the two of us to share. It was light and quite refreshing, a tad bit too refreshing for me because of the lemon, but hubby enjoyed it very much. We would reorder when we revisit. The lamb chops were brought out next- and though I knew that the dish had only 3 lamb chops, I have to say I was a little disappointed in the portions. Given its price and the fancy ingredients the dish was made with, the $22.00 price tag isn't overly expensive. The server wasn't kidding when she recommended that we order a couple of sides/vegetables to enjoy with our lamb chops to make our lunch more fulfilling! Lesson learned (the hard way). I contemplated whether I should order a side of vegetables while we were eating our lamb chops, but I decided to wait on the pizza first and see how our tummies were doing afterwards. The pizza was delish! Though it was on the thin side - some may think that it's too thin - hubby and I enjoyed it very much as it reminded us of the authentic Italian pizzas we love. I think this style of pizza is Neapolitan originating from Napoli - someone correct me if I'm wrong! The pizza is a definite recommend and re-order! Anyway, the pizza was hot and literally fresh out of the oven when it arrived on our table and it really was love at first bite. Nightingale has its own brick oven on the second floor of the restaurant so you can always count on them for authentic pizzas any time. I must say, the pizza took quite a long time for it to arrive, actually most of our foods did, but it was worth the wait! The quality of the dishes and the delicious flavours really was incomparable. We didn't have any trouble finishing the pizza, and though we had room for dessert, I decided to try another dessert place that was on my list instead of trying a sweet dish at Nightingale that day. If you've always wanted to visit Vancouver's Hawksworth Restaurant but couldn't, or love David Hawksworth's cuisine, Nightingale is a definite must-visit for you! Whether you're a tourist visiting our beautiful city or a local who loves good food, Nightingale is a great restaurant for everyone. It's casual enough that you can go for a small bite to eat, but it's also upscale enough that you can have a great romantic dinner with your loved one. Go in between for brunch (though I think the menu is the same for lunch, dinner and brunch - see official menu here), you get a great casual yet sophisticated vibe. Our service was spotty, but above average. It took some time to flag down our server at times but we were okay with waiting. When you add all your dishes up, the price isn't as cheap as it looks on the menu. If you like your bang for your buck - that is, you like quantity over quality (more expensive = more food), Nightingale isn't going to meet that standard. Here, it is definitely quality over quantity, and the food portions are quite smaller than your average restaurant. Don't be surprised if you find yourself ordering another pizza to satisfy your stomach, unless you're ready to go all out and give your credit card a nice run. Overall, our short experience at Nightingale was excellent and hubby and I would definitely revisit the restaurant when we have a chance! The 19th century/Downtown Abbey-like entrance had us all awe in admiration. We love the beautiful interior of soft autumn colors and the juxtaposition of minimalist and heritage furniture. And my eyes linger on the shiny copper cocktail shakers that rest on the marble bar, with an antique library of fancy spirits as the backdrop. Though there is a giant pillar almost in the middle of the room and obstructing our view. It is hard to pin-point exactly what cuisine Nightingale is - I mean yes, Mr. Hawksworth said it is "Canadian Cuisine" in his press, and the press describes Nightingale as "local ingredients with international influences." Well, I respectfully disagree, because the menu skews heavily towards Italian and even when I asked our waitress on what cuisine this is, she sheepishly replies Italian. We ordered Daily market fish crudo, Pacific octopus, Crispy fried chicken and Grilled pork belly to share between two people and sipped on cocktails. Daily market fish crudo, calabrian chili, fennel, citrus - I didn't ask what the fish was, but regardless what the fish might be, it'd be drowning in chilli and olive oil because they completely overpower the delicate taste of the fish. Not to mention the portion is TINY. Pacific octopus, blistered caper, parsley, fermented chili, vinegar - A very (good) interesting dish where the texture of the octopus is like that of a fish, and overall this was a flavor-balanced dish. Crispy fried chicken, preserved lemon yogurt, dill. espelette - Small pieces of chicken were lightly coated and fried while retaining that juicy center...and it tasted delicious with the yogurt mix of lemon and dill. Portion is still very small. Grilled pork belly, nectarine, white balsamic, pistachio - It tasted like a combo of fancy honey ham and HK BBQ pork - but super tender, juicy, and paired beautifully with thinly sliced nectarine where its acidity helped to offset the richness of the fat, and crushed pistachio added an interesting crunch in the mouth. There are lots of wine available by the glass and by the half bottle, and its a good mix of mainstream and particular wine picks. And when it comes to service, our waitress was the Godess! She came over and checked us for every dish, filled our water regularly, and asked if we want another cocktail soon as we finished our drink. I also saw another waitress folding the napkin when the patron left the table to use the washroom. Since the restaurant just opened, there are a few small areas to note: 1. No one asked me if I'd like my jacket to be stored, and there is a storage just behind the concierge 2. I arrived earlier than my reservation, finished my meal, and while on my way home I got a call asking if I'm still coming in 3. There are a few wines on the menu that are current not available, but will come in as stock gets refreshed. 4. A lot of staff are just walking around... Towards the end our bill came to about $100 for 4 plates and 2 drinks between 2 people, and sadly we were about 60% full. Cheerio! read more

Let's start off with the things to improve upon (resulting 3 stars) and then I'll get to the 4-5 star material. Trying to make a reso on Opentable, there are no options for 8 people but it will let you make a reso for 7. Our table for 7 was really a table for 4 with 2 on 1 side, 3 squished in on the opposite side, and 2 on each end. For a place with sharing as the theme, this was just not enough space. Why cram a table of 7 into the same configuration you use for 4? If you don't want resos of 7, don't allow them. If you do allow resos for 7, why not make it a bit bigger and allow 8? After initially bringing water, our server left us wanting to order cocktails. I didn't count how long but it was too long. Then after the drinks came, she promptly (to her credit) asked us about food and we indicated we might need a couple of more minutes. We decided on the food right away but it was quite a while before she came back.. leaving us wanting yet again. The first dish of food hit the table an hour after our reservation. The group of 7 had a few sub-groups sharing food. One couple asked for 2 dishes to be their "second course". After we devoured all the food on the table, it was apparent those 2 dishes were missing, we thought forgotten so I inquired with our server and she said they were coming because they asked for them to be their second course. Those dishes did come but considerably after all the other food was eaten. They just meant they wanted those dishes after their appetizer, not after their appetizer was digested and everyone else had finished. Judgment and execution could be sharpened up. Lastly, for my sub-group of 3, we told the server that 1 couple was splitting a bottle of wine, I had my own drinks, and the 3 of us were sharing the food. 2 bills came, 1 with a bottle of wine and the other with my drinks and all the food. Not a big deal but we had to manually figure out the food split, tax, etc. Something that should have been easy for an astute server to figure out. So my biggest disappointments were the seating arrangement and the server. Granted it was a packed house so that could be a factor. Now on to the good stuff. The decor is BEAUTIFUL. What a space.. and the bar is a great sight. The house cocktails are definitely worth trying but don't be afraid to venture off the list. The wine list also has a number of great options. The food was also very good. Specifically, we had the octopus, pea and fava shoots, N'duja pizza, meatballs, and pork belly. All were very enjoyable. I love, love,LOVE that they use san marzano tomatoes. Being the tomato sauce whooooooooore that I am, a little more sauce on the meatballs and pizza please! read more

A place I've been waiting to try out for awhile. It's a large restaurant with seating on the main floor and an upstairs area. It feels a bit upscale, but the prices are more reasonable. They have plenty of choices to choose on their menu. From small plates, vegetables, pizzas, and larger plates, there should be an option for everyone. It was difficult to decide what to get because there were so many options and there were lots of things I wanted to try. We ended up with the fried chicken, grilled squash, and the spaghetti with an uni add-on. We didn't need to wait very long for the first two dishes. The fried chicken came out first. Each piece had a slice of pickle placed on top. The chicken was crispy and still moist on the inside. I liked the spiced maple syrup the added some sweetness, and I enjoyed the sourness of the pickle. The grilled squash was next. It was pretty good. The squash was soft, but still had some texture. It went well with the xo sauce. Our last dish, we waited awhile for it. Maybe because we were hungry and a little impatient, but it took awhile in comparison to the first two. When it arrived, I was a little disappointed. The presentation wasn't that great and I didn't realize $8 for the uni add-on meant only one piece. You can definitely get a piece of uni nigiri for $4 at sushi restaurants, so I thought there'd be two pieces. However, that one piece of uni was fresh and tasty. The pasta was a bit of a let down. The spaghetti was a bit hard and the overall flavour wasn't that great. It had a sour taste to it. In the end, we didn't finish most of it. When the server brought our bill and asked if we wanted the spaghetti to be packed, we told him no and what we didn't like. What happened next was quite a surprise for me. He immediately said he'd take it off the bill and let the cooks know. I was very happy with the way he dealt with it. read more

Came here with a group of friends for NYE. The place was packed but they allowed us to stay until almost midnight. We had reservations at 8:45pm so we pretty much sat there, ate and drank until about 11:45pm. We had 8 ppl so we ordered 2 of the same dishes so that we can try them. Also since it was NYE, they had required that we spend about $40 per person, which was fine with us as we ate a lot of variety of food that it was worth it. It was like Dine Out but we got to try 10 different dishes ( x2 except the pizzas which were 1 each ) We had the kale salad, roasted brussel sprouts, grilled broccolini, roasted bone marrow, charred lamp chops, crispy fried chicken, grilled hanger steak, pork belly, black truffle pizza, N'duja pizza. The lamp chops was flavorful, tender and well seasoned. It was perfectly made and had the right 'wellness', not overcooked. If only they were bigger but then again, it is hard to find bigger lamp chops. The broccolini was good. It still had a slight crunch to it, and wasn't mushy. This was something that all of us wanted to get and we would have ordered a third as it didn't last long. I am used to spicy and this has some chili but I didn't really taste it, but some of my friends were able to tell it has some spice. The hanger steak was really tender and juicy. The hanger steak was small so we had a couple of small pieces each. I am a big eater so this would not have filled me up. If you don't eat a lot of food, this may be enough for you along with a salad or something. The pork belly was really good, didn't think the shaved apple and mustard would work for this but surprisingly, it blended really well. The honey mustard added that extra kick and the apple added to the flavor of the pork belly. I would definitely recommend this dish. What can i say about the bone marrow other than my friends and I love having it so whenever we can have it, we order it. I think this dish was gone with a few minutes and we had to make sure that everyone had some because if we didn't, 3 of us would have had it all. =) Our server was awesome. She was very attentive, gave thought out recommendation in regards to dishes and also wines to go with the dishes. She came by enough to ensure we had everything and ensure that there was always a few bottles of water on our tables. I would give this place 5 stars for the amazing interior decor. The interior design is one of its kind in Vancouver - it is grand with a bit of a retro feel. It is a great place for large gatherings as it is quite spacey. I would also recommend this place for family gatherings as well, however I would suggest sitting on the second floor (or at least request to do so) since it is quieter up there. We had to shout even when talking with each other across tiny table when we were sitting on the first floor. There are a few notable dishes that I think is worth trying at this place, these include the braised tripe, grilled pork belly, hazelnut financier (dessert item), and lemon tart (dessert item). They used to have a squid ink pasta that I thought was very special, but it was taken off the menu shortly after I tried it and replaced with the casarecce pasta. This new plate was not bad as well, but definitely not as unique as the original item. I wish they would bring back the squid ink pasta again! Make sure to reserve in advance before coming in. They do fill up quite fast. Just a tip if you can't find seats for your preferred time online - try calling in, they may have tables available over the phone that is not available online. Came in for Mother's Day dinner. Had a large family style dinner and it was wonderful! My favorites of the night were the hangar steak (which was surprising because I usually hate hangar steak), the clam pasta, the duck ragu and the aburi konpachi. The pizza was also quite good albeit slightly soggy in the middle but the flavor was good and the crust was nice and chewy. They lost 1 star for the horrible pork belly with "kimchi". I'm Korean and calling THAT kimchi is kind of insulting... it tasted like bbq sauce and that opinion was shared by most of the people at the table (all different races). Other than that everything was delish! Ended the dinner with the warm chocolate fudge cake OMG! Service was excellent and the wine selection was good. All in all a very good meal. read more

All kinds of beautiful here. The decor is like none other - brass fixtures, natural lighting and birth themed accent pieces adorn the tall walls. The menu is fresh and exciting. Incorporating seasonal ingredients, Chef Hawksworth presents his dishes with delectable spices, sauces and flair. As a seafood lover, I like that the menu is dominated by often raw, gems of the sea. My first dining experience was in early June and the hamachi ceviche and spot prawns were my highlights. At the end of our meal, we were greeted by chef Hawksworth himself who recognized my sommelier friend who happened to dine there the day previous and had some issues with the salt content in his pasta dish. Chef Hawksworth explained that he has had issues with cooking consistency and that he has had to part ways with that particular chef who had served the overly salty dish. In any case, I would 1) dine at Nightingale again; 2) recommend it for both Vancouverites and discerning out-of-towners and 3) come back to enjoy drinks in the beautiful venue. What will come after the namesake Hawksworth restaurant and Nightingale? I don't have any insight in this but I'm already excited just thinking about it! read more

The front desk was absolutely wonderfully nice and very quick on their feet. Definitely a 10/10. Waiting team was super attentive, very informative and friendly. 10/10. We got the fried chicken, best dish of the night! A must! Their meatballs, comes with 3 pieces, was enough for each of us. I'd say the flavor was on point - but their fried chicken dish took the trophy for tonight. My brother got two off-menu drinks - they were decent. I did not like the Penicillin - my BF did. I did, however, enjoy their: jungle bird and bramble. Two of my favorite drinks. A little fruity - but has a huge kick of alcohol. These are a must get for sure. Delicious place! I came here on my birthday and we ordered so much food! The fried chicken, the tortelloni, and pastas are to die for, pizza was good as well! My only drawback was when we ordered the roast lamb, it tasted beautiful and was cooked very tenderly, however the presentation was a jumble. We had rice on the bottom and the lamb shank, and it was decorated with Romanesco all around it, which made it look like a Chinese dish hastily put together from a chef that had to fry 7 other dishes in his wok right after. I would consider this as a special occasion place. The first time I came here was with a client and we shared 3 plates. Tomato salad with roasted eggplant, meatballs and the fish. We weren't stuff but pleasantly content. I came here for my birthday a couple months ago and it didn't disappoint. I would highly recommend the octopus (I'd eat 2 plates myself if I could), and the lamb Popsicles. I got the tomato salad again because it is that good! I just checked the menu recently and they don't have this dish anymore which is sad. please bring it back! portions are small, but service and food are excellent. Made reservations for a work dinner for 6 people at 4:30pm. When we arrived we had advised another 2 people were invited. The server politely told us there was a $45 pre fixed menu required for any table with more then 6 people, no acceptions made. We were looking for drinks and a good spread of food to share, so we were not sure about a fixed dinner menu especially at 430pm. When we asked the second server (Caucasian women with tattoos on her arm) what was on the pre fix menu because the menu provided was the regular one. She was very rude and repeated the information the first server already told us but added "If you had called and told us of the update reservation, this conversation would have been had over the phone." Who speaks like that to customers? Talking down to us. Once those words were spoken, we decided that a nice dining experience was over before even starting. In addition to after the 4 of us left, my other 4 colleagues showed up not knowing what had occurred, they asked for our table and the hosts and servers acted like no one from our table had come in at all. They acted like my name wasn't ever on the list, even scrolling on their iPad and saying "Oh hmm sorry there no reservations under that name, hmm did you mean Christine?" Literally they did this 10minutes after we left. We strolled down to the cactus club and spent well over double each the pre fix price, but that's not the point, we had 10x better service there then Nightingale. Worst restaurant ever, you want to be represented as fine dining however you do not provided excellent customer service and talk down to guests. Nightingale is so good! There is such a great selection to suit any palate. The variety is excellent. The broccolini is so yummy not to mention the sidecar cocktail. I recommend it for a relaxed gathering. I didn't like the decor that much, it seems a bit tacky, but overall it has a nice ambience. It's a tapas style. The portions are on the small side, for two people, we ordered 5 dishes. We ordered bone marrow, oysters, lamb pizza, califlower, confit pasta. The food was good nothing extraordinary. Each dish had a well blend of tases though. I really liked the purple califlower and the bone marrow. The pasta could have used more duck confit. The pizza was too boring, the lamb sausage had no taste. For desserts, we had ice cream sandwich and blueberry crumble, both were not that good. read more

Literally everything about this place deserves 5 stars. I'd recommend making a reservation, as they were totally packed on a random night in the middle of the week when I went. We hung out by the bar and waited for a table and were able to get seated within 20 minutes. Speaking of the bar, the bartenders are INCREDIBLE. We had martinis to start and then moved on to wine - all delicious. I would recommend specific dishes, but honestly, everything we had was so good, I have to assume it's all like this. After ordering the number of dishes the bartender recommended, we proceeded to order a few more. (She was impressed.) What a wonderful place!! My gf suggested we go here to sit and study for a wine test we had yesterday (while enjoying good wine and food of course.) I'm really happy she suggested it!! Our server Keagan was awesome! Very personable, accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu ingredients and wine list. He carried himself very well and we simply enjoyed his presence. :) The wine was delicious. And though we only had a few appys, I must go back because they were so packed with flavour! I had the grilled broccolini, I didn't know broccolini could be SO flavourful! It was beautiful! My gf had the peanut sauce bok Choy, I don't even like bok choy but I would truly order that dish again going back! It was Incredible! Then she also ordered the triple cooked wedge fries which looked awesome and she thoroughly enjoyed. Just a lovely experience all around. Ambiance was beautiful and I loved the decor. A very nice and clean place, I will certainly be back! That menu looked amazing!! So many great options!! If you're not a fan of vegetables, go to this place and try how they serve up their veggies! The first time we stopped in just for a drink before dinner elsewhere- we got to know our bartender Lauren who recommended some great cocktails on the menu and gave us some tips about exploring the city. A couple next to us ordered the meatballs and we knew we had to come back to try them, because they smelled amazing. So meatball day arrives and we park ourselves back at the bar for a solid 4 hours. (The meatballs were indeed amazing) But Gavin (bartender) also recommends the cauliflower dish and my meat-loving, veggie fearing SO proclaims it as the best dish he's eaten all week in Vancouver. Seriously. Back to Lauren and Gavin- best bartenders in town. They invested so much time in making the visit a great experience, above and beyond what bartenders usually do. They made us some phenomenal drinks not on the menu, including the mescal Hemingway. The SO won't shut up about it a week later. I expect to have bottles of mescal in the house routinely. Gavin has an extensive knowledge of drinks, so tell him what you like and he won't disappoint. Nightingales has a more upscale atmosphere which I appreciate. The bar itself is an exquisite piece of art. Just beautiful. Very clean restrooms. We can't wait to come back to Vancouver and Nightingales and can only hope that Gavin and Lauren are still there (or the other bartenders are as wonderful). read more

Great atmosphere! The decor is lovely! There's something for everyone on the menu. It's family style so make sure you order together. They also politely decline any menu modification requests which I know some people won't like but I love it! You taste the dishes how the chef intended you to taste them. Let's talk food. Wonderful flavour combinations! Marinated beets and grilled pacific rockfish really stood out for me. Also had the potato gnocchi....they were as light as air but the tomato sauce with basil and stracciatella cheese was a bit plain. The salted caramel pot de crème was a nice light dessert to finish off the meal. Not too sweet but not enough caramel flavour for me. With their menu selection, I will definitely have to return to try their other dishes (charred lamb chops). Oh and be sure to make a reservations. This place fills up fast! read more
