    Shiba Inu nanobrick builds

Great store for its variety of Japanese American shirts, books, movies, kitchen items, taiko items, toys, and more. Really love these nanobrick builds, great gifts.

One of the cutest more unique stores with all local vendors! They have a books area with music all that covers San Jose Taiko as well as Jtown's Obon. They have local shirts, prints and hand made shirts.

Went to the Obon festival the other day and after going around and enjoying the games, food and festivities we decided to check around the stores near it since we are in Japantown. I was actually looking for fan freebies but one of the organizers said that its difficult tracking "the fan lady" who hands them out. He then suggested that if I was looking for traditional Japanese fans we can check out the stores by the corner. Good idea, so we went. And so we entered Nikkei Traditions. It's a small gift shop that sells a variety of items from nick knacks and clothes. Some japanese and tropical (more like hawaiian) clothes. My daughter lit up automatically when she saw those cute japanese erasers for $1 each. I also was browsing through paper cat fans but finally opted for a more durable plastic fan for about 5 bucks. On the back of the store they also have CD's for sale and those cold and hot reusable bags. I saw alot of awesome designs but opted to buy a cute one for my daughter that has small musubi prints all over it. The bag which was more than $7 is rather reasonable cause she can use it as a small bag for school or as her lunch box to school. She loves it so much so for me that's priceless.... Love the place and recommends Yelpers to check it out.

HOW DO I NOT HAVE A REVIEW FOR NIKKEI TRADITIONS!?!?!?!??! I love this place. Lots of cool little knick knacks, tshirts, stuff from Japan, some Hawaiian things, and just a store full of cool. I found a few useless but had to have it stuff here including a hello kitty cell phone dangle (really? yea, I am that girl). I found some very cool books on Japanese and Japanese American culture (Nikkei means Japanese American). Also, some of the girls who work there are SOOOOO knowledgeable! I love going in here to just to talk sometimes. I only wish I lived closer to Japantown so I could go more often.

    Crispy and Sweet!

Nikkei has a nice selections of handcrafted art and gifts with a heavy Hawaiian influence. They have a large selection of T-shirts.

If you love stationery, journaling, or planners, this place is such a great place. They have a great variety of pens, notebooks, stickers, and thoughtful little gifts, and I was especially excited to see that they even carry Hobonichi. Everything feels well curated and high quality, not overwhelming, just really fun to browse. The store itself is bright, clean, and inspiring, and the staff has always been friendly and welcoming. Whether you're into journaling, planning, or just want a unique gift, Maido is definitely worth stopping into. There was not much stafff around helping, I think only two people and they were both at the cash register, they weren't too talkative and didnt ask if we needed help, but im sure they would have if we asked, we just werent approached. Maybe they were short staffed that day.

The store is not big but fully packed. Very organized. We don't have too many gift store like this in the west bay . The store location is right by Vally fair mall , West San Jose . Many customers and quite popular. Parking is not easy if you come in the weekend . There are couple paid parking structures in the same area. I usually either come on the weekdays or Saturday morning to avoid the crowds.

As a fair warning, the tiny tiny gift shop is extremely limited in size. The path is extremely narrow due to objects being placed along both sides of the entire business and the space in itself is already tight. I came here a few days ago in hopes of finding a traditional tet outfit for my daughter. Although the selection seems a bit limited, the articles of clothing are clean, bright, and very easy on the eyes. A special TY to the lady behind the counter was very courteous and helpful during our search. While I was busy searching for the right design and look for the outfit my daughter couldn't help herself from grabbing a flashy spinner wand that blares out the most annoying tube. Lmao!! Go figure huh?? I decided to make that additional purchase and only asked if they had a wrapped or boxed wand since this one was clearly a sample it out. The gentleman behind the counter seemed agitated and wasn't friendly at all. A simple no would have been fine and the attitude could have totally been kept to himself. How unfortunate that the lady owner is this business's only saving grace. Not recommended if you are in any way claustrophobic or if you are expecting any kind of decent customer service. Thanks but no thanks to the non welcoming vibes!!
