So I wish I had taken some more pics to show prospective diners. If you're looking for a super authentic feeling restaurant please look no further than Nikos. Sure Hellas down the street has some razzle dazzle, and it's good, but that's not what a traditional Greek restaurant in Greece feels like. I heard the meats here were phenomenal so we went by to give it a shot. I had the pork souvlaki and also a chicken souvlaki wrapped in bacon. My daughter had a chicken souvlaki with pita. Let me start with my favorite, which was the pork souvlaki. It was all great but if I could do it again I'd have just gotten a bunch of those and called it a day! Possibly my favorite pork souvlaki I've ever had in the US. The bacon wrapped chicken came with a lemony sauce I've never had before and it was amazing as well! My daughter loved her chicken souvlaki with pita, and honestly the Pita was my favorite part of her meal (yes I tried it). Seemed so fresh and it was delicious. The server was also the owner and she had her grandchildren come visit while she was serving us. She brought them over to say hello and she spent a great deal of time talking to my daughter and I as well. Such a wonderful lady and really made us feel at home. In fact when I was inquiring about the pork gyros after we had already eaten, she just brought me some so I could taste it for free. Super thoughtful and kind. The bread they brought us out as a free appetizer was delicious as well and different than what I'm used to. Back to the ambiance though, the narrow sidewalk in front of the business with tables and chairs seem to be filled with old timers throughout the day, and once again not to beat a dead horse but THAT is the true home style Greek restaurant feeling. This is one of the few truly authentic Greek kitchens in Tarpon Springs. Everything is made in house. The meat forward menu makes my husband a huge fan and I like the variety as well as simplicity of the dishes. The service is always lovely, attentive but never rushed. I'm gluten free and they are accommodating and helpful with recommendations or requests. We dove into our meal too quickly this visit before remembering to take pics but really enjoyed the spicy feta dip (pita for him, sliced veggies for me, his traditional gyro platter (generous portion of meat), and my juicy chicken skewer (also generous portion with oregano seasoning) on top of the fresh cabbage/carrot/garlic slaw (no prepackaged coleslaw here). One of the best GREEK food I have ever tried! We ordered chicken platter and Greek salad. Dishes are big and ingredients are fresh. Veggies are not like everywhere else, they are like from Europe-- fresh, juicy, ripe. Their lemon potatoes are incredibly delicious -- MUST try! They have tables inside and outside. Good service. A great small off the main tourist street place. Excellent Greek grilled food mostly meat. However for "Lent" they offered octopus which was both fantastic and huge very served very much as you'd see in Greece. Two long octopus legs attacked well enough for two. Simply grilled. They add some olive oil and balsamic (which I don't care for ) and that's it. Grilled zucchini were perfect - again simple and natural as you have in the old country itself. Staff very nice and efficient. Small but very clean and neat place. Very cute for a date. Not a mob scene like the main area places (which are good mostly) but this would be my go to every visit. read more

I could literally write a book about how much my family loved this place! My parents and I wanted to grab a bite to eat and something to drink in Tarpon Springs and we decided to stop in to Niko's because we were walking by and it caught our attention. I can only say amazing things about this place because from the moment we said we were going to sit down, we were greeted by the most amazing team we could've ever expected. The service was the best service I've had probably ever, we got the chance to meet the owner and spend some time with him (THE Niko lol) and he surprised us with his favorite dish, which is not on the menu so we felt very special, the food was literally delicious, the beers were nice and cold, the vibe of the place was great even when sitting outside (we had our dog with us so we had to sit outside, which was totally fine!) and like I said, we had the best experience we could've ever imagined. We had some Fix and Mythos beers, the Greek fries, Saganaki, and some other things that we got the chance to try. You can also sit outside if you have a pet, people watch, and have a wonderful time. Just off the "beaten track" in Tarpon Springs, this adorable restaurant offers delicious traditional Greek cuisine and excellent service at reasonable prices in a great atmosphere. We stopped in for lunch on a beautiful fall day, so we ate outside among soft background sounds, close enough to look at the boats and water, but distant enough to be removed from traffic noise. On a day with less than perfect weather, indoor seating is clean and plentiful. Before we placed our order, we were presented with fresh bread and dipping oil, a great way to start. Being in a "carnivore" mood, our gracious host Christos suggested the Kontosouvli (I got the pork, or it comes with chicken). The serving was large, and came with fresh tomatoes, onions, pita, and tzatziki sauce. It was perfectly spiced. My wife, not as hungry, chose the Avgolemono, a lemon soup with rice and chicken. It came in a huge bowl. She wasn't that hungry, but she finished every drop of it, and enjoyed the lemon touch, which she said was delicious without being overwhelming. After finishing our entrees, Christos brought us a light dessert treat. I can't remember the name, but it was made solely of 3 ingredients: semolina, olive oil, and sugar. I didn't think I had room, but it was light and was the perfect cap to the meal. The price of the meal was very reasonable and we're sure to return to this gem! read more

Our server was absolutely a doll! We waited almost 40 minutes for our food. I ordered the chicken souvlaki, I was very disappointed. Not only was the chicken, overcooked and dry, the pizza bread was burned. It was black on the bottom. The french fries were cold. I said nothing about this. I was too embarrassed. What I did notice were three cooks in the kitchen one of them, wiping his nose on his forearm back-and-forth. No one was wearing a mask. No one was wearing any hair nets. Two out of the three were wiping their noses. I would not bother with this place unless it's the last resort and other places are full. There are many other restaurants in Tarpon Springs that are nice to visit with cooks that are healthier and food is warm not cold and overcooked. Sorry guys no good this time. read more

In the town known for its Greek restaurants, this one served one of the blandest meals imaginable. The Koto bacon skewer platter. Three skewers of chicken wrapped in bacon. Yes, it was grilled over charcoal and had a bit of a smoky flavor, but there was nothing Particularly Greek about it. No spices to speak of, just plain chicken wrapped in bacon. The chicken was cooked just a little too long, past the point of being tender. The side sauce in a black plastic cup was a thick yellowish mayonnaise. The french fries were flaccid and lukewarm. No onions. Two half slices of underripe tomato and a pile of chopped green lettuce. No dressing. No spices. Accompanying cut up Pita bread was similarly bland. Cannot recommend and would not repeat, and it was totally unexpected given the prior reviews. Service was exceptionally slow, for which the restaurant apologized, and offered complimentary drink and dessert. And hey, everyone screws up an order from time to time, so that was okay, but based solely on the quality of the meal, I will not repeat nor recommend. read more

Growing up with Greek influence, this is the best food and it made me think of Yaya! Absolutely authentic and wonderfully flavored! True Gyro meat! Authentic Greek Feta, and homemade tzatziki sauce! One of our friends had the steak and it was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious with all of the flavors and spices that came. The service was wonderful. They made you feel like family. The bread is absolutely wonderful as well and is from the bakery that's just down the road on the other side of the street. Myself and two of my friends went and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Everything was fresh homemade and the taste was impeccable. We all stated we will go back here again and again. It is our new favorite spot! The restaurant was very clean and had an open area so that bigger parties could sit together. They also had an outdoor dining area which makes you feel like you're in a diner sitting in a sweet town in Greece. Upon our departure we met Nikos. He was a very nice gentleman. Definitely felt like we were welcomed in like family even though we were not. I highly recommend enjoying their wonderful food. What a wonderful authentic Greek restaurant in the middle of Tarpon Springs! You'll find dishes here that you can only find in Greece, (even among other Greek restaurants in the area) and the food is truly excellent! We were greeted with such warm hospitality by Yvonne and her staff. The Tirokafteri dip is the best I have ever had, anywhere! Waited 10 minutes for server to recognize table. Then had to flag server down 15 minutes later to order. I ordered Skepssti with chicken - but they had no chicken. Settled on pork. The Skepssti came and there was very little filling of meat, etc between the pita. Finished meal and sat for 20 more minutes to get check. We never saw server the entire meal - ran out of water, could not get another beer, etc. Taverna puts this place to shame. read more
