Thuan and I stopped by here after a long morning stroll and stopping by Just Games Lexington. They had a basic breakfast menu that looked appeasing and Thuan was dying for a gyro. We got seated in the booth and ordered the meatballs app (UM, YUM!), the crab bisque, the gyro, and I got pancakes, smoked ham and eggs and home fries. Yum yum yum yum everything was yummy, from the extra crispy fries, to the giant buttermilk pancakes, to the gyro. Their tzatziki sauce is bomb-diggity. I want to come back to order all the other greek entrees! I really really liked the meatballs, they were just so perfectly seasoned, like I would come back just to eat that. Very yummy little place in Lexington. We had some good Greek food and they abided by social distancing and mask wearing . Loved the Greek meatballs and also the Greek chicken. Did think the tables around us were a distraction as they were strewn with trash, but maybe they were busy and didn't get to them. Overall, good food . read more

We didn't get to eat here. There were three of us. We had a five year old child. There was an empty booth by the window. They didn't want to seat us there for some reason and asked us to wait. Eventually a table in the back cleared by a refrigerator. We said we would like to sit in the booth but they said they couldn't seat us there because of insurance reasons. I've never had this experience before. Ever. I'll be letting the people at the Robert E Lee Hotel know not to refer people there as well. ***update on 5/13/16. Very busy Valentine's night but the place was running like a well oiled machine. Our waitress, Rebecca, was top-notch and the food was good. Friends dining in an adjacent table waited an hour for their meal (they were seated before us and weren't served their main course until we were finishing our dessert). I wouldn't usually base my review on a friend's experience (obviously), but I was drawn into their experience, unfortunately ... As my friends were leaving with their entrees boxed to TAKE HOME and eat, they stopped at our table to say goodbye. The owner ran out to us and caused a scene, accusing my friends of berating her to other customers, which they weren't. SHE caused the scene on a very busy night, affecting everyone within earshot. It was uncalled for and totally unprofessional. It's highly doubtful that I will be dining at Niko's again. read more

The dolmathes we ordered were tart and well stuffed, but the koukouvayia (think fattoush/bread salad) could have had a little more seasoning in its dressing. I want to grab some saganaki on our next trip in, and at least a couple of spanakopitas. read more

We went to this on a whim, & it was a real stroke of luck! The service was super & the food was great! They really have pretty much anything you'd want. My GF & I had gyros, which were really good, & baklava which was SO good it can't be explained in a small review! If you're in the area, definitely give this place a try. read more

A lot of ratings on here do not give Nikko's justice. Nikkos is a Greek restaurant infused with Americanized options. It is a great place whether you are Greek yourself or haven't had Greek food in your life. We were in town as my family was visiting Washington and Lee college. The atmosphere is a bit disappointing but the service is great... they are always refilling your drinks. The house-brewed sweet tea was good, food was very appealing and tasted good. I would recommend you try the Avgolemono soup-- Quite tasty. I would definitely recommend you stop here if you are in town and are looking for a bite to eat. read more

Food was edible but nothing special. For a "Greek" restaurant, there were very few Greek options on the menu. We got the fried green beans, which were not worth the price and tasted like someone was making fried pickles but forgot the pickles. The fries lived up to their name in that they were over fried and tasted like crispy pieces of cardboard. The kabob sandwich was good but not overly so. The chicken tenders were average. Service was fine and the ambiance was decent. Probably something to try once but not to return to. read more

We were passing through and pick up some take out from Niko's Grille. We called in the order around lunch time and I wanted the chicken shish kabobs which comes with rice and salad. They gave me the chicken pita sandwich instead with fries. Since we were passing through I didn't change the order but I was pretty disappointed since I was really looking forward to the meal I ordered. The food was definitely edible and the fries were good, and on the plus side it was half the cost. I guess they were expecting people to order a sandwich during lunch time, but I would definitely make sure to confirm the order if we ever come here again. read more

The friendly greeting we received was the first indication that we'd made a good choice for lunch. The restaurant was clean and bright, the waitress had authentic Southern charm. Menu was the usual lunch fare, with Greek dishes featured prominently. The food arrived quickly. Jim had the Greek salad w/grilled chicken, I had the chicken pita. Both dishes were excellent. First off, this is not a Greek restaurant. It has nachos and chicken fingers on the menu, for Christ's sake. The food was mediocre, but inexpensive. I got the gyro, which was fine. I've had better; I've had worse. Everything was just so greasy. Even the pita bread seemed drenched in butter or fried somehow. What was really disappointing to me was the specialty "Greek" food. My husband ordered the sampler platter, which came with hummus, spinach and feta pie, and dolmades. The dolmades were gross--very mushy. The hummus was okay, but tasted like mustard. I'm not sure what they put in it, but the restaurant should stick to a basic recipe. The spinach pie was just okay, too, and also a bit mushy. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I wouldn't come back. read more

We came to Niko's Grille after a long day at the Natural Bridge zoo. We had been directed by a random passerby and told it was a very family-friendly place, since we had three children with us. The waitress was nice enough and did a fine job. The food was okay; the special stuffed chicken was pricey for the average dish that you get and the clam chowder was almost devoid of anything but broth, though to be fair that broth tasted delicious. The problem I really had was that the owner was there with his wife, sat near us the whole time, and just STARED at us. It was unsettling. At one point he sent his wife (I'm assuming it's his wife but I could be wrong) to check and see how much food our daughter had dropped on the floor. For the record, she did drop some food on the floor but I cleaned it all up as I always do. After we paid for our meal and were chatting a little bit, getting ready to hit the road, the owner came over and put the menus and silverware out for the next group of people, and obvious hint that we should be on our way. We just spent well over $120 as a group at his restaurant and he can't be bothered to let us sit there and talk for a little while? The owner was unsettling and rude. Everyone else was friendly. We won't be back. Honestly, even if the food were out of this world I wouldn't go back because of the owner. read more

Niko's is a Greek-American restaurant that is about equal in its selection of Greek dishes and things like burgers and salads. The space is large but rather impersonal: it is nice enough certainly, but just doesn't seem quite appropriate for a Greek restaurant . . . indeed, it seems more like a mid-range hotel restaurant with its carpet and bland earth tones. The service was fine and the owner and his wife were up front the whole time--it's obvious this is a family-owned restaurant and they did seem to care that their patrons were pleased with their meals. I had a Greek sampler platter for dinner which was ok--the sausage was quite good and the hummus was alright. The grilled chichen however was so tough I couldn't eat it. Because the platter had an ample serving of other items, I didn't send it back on account of this chicken, however. I probably should have, but I knew the owner would probably come over and I just didn't want to be bothered with it all, given that there was plenty else to eat. The dolmades were also good enough. The baklava was quite good, supposedly home-made and tasted as if it was in fact. So the meal was ok, but not really impressive. Since I was only in Lexington one day, in retrospect, I wish I'd gone to the Southern Inn or somewhere else that is very highly-rated and also many of the dishes at Niko's seemed a bit over-priced too, such as the lamb kebabs, though the sampler platter was if anything a bargin for the amount of food price-wise. read more

We loved this place! We are passing through and after a long drive, decided to eat here. I had the homemade lemon chicken noodle soup and the gyro platter. My husband had a layered pasta dish - a baked ziti with bechamel sauce. We asked for a booth and he asked that my son not sit next to the window looking out to the street because the window was old. Fine, but better to put up a sign next to the window. Though I was not impressed during my first experience at Niko's, I have given in to at least three more tries. Niki's Grille, located at the top of Main Street in Lexington, Virginia, is your typical family Greek-style restaurant. The atmosphere is old and tired, with many booths which need up-dating. I will preface my review with this...I don't know why so many give this restaurant favorable reviews, but my own experiences fell short of even a "fair" rating. I have dined at Niko's for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each time, the food was ho-hum, old-restaurant style - you know...where your grandmother has eaten for the past three decades. My omelettes, on two different occasions, were overcooked and brownish/dry-looking (and tasting). There was none of that fresh, moist, or mouth-watering quality in any of the food I've had at Niko's. The toast was your typical thin truck-stop bread that you've seen since you were a child. I once opted for a gyro which was quite greasy, and my fries were limp, not crisp. My salad had many pieces of lettuce that should have been tossed out, and on another occasion, the chicken was tough and overcooked. To sum it up, there is no flair, not zest, no freshness in this tired Greek family restaurant, The food was overcooked, and looked like it was. Below average diner food, at best. My experiences have cried out, "Run Of The Mill", and I will not return. There are too many great dining choices in Lexington, even in walking distance. p.s. Very nice establishment when you want just a little extra. They serve a very lovely Greek salad and the desserts are to die for.

My wife ordered chicken kabob, which was under-seasoned and rather bland. The portion was very small - not even a whole chicken breast - and certainly not worthy of the $9 price tag. I had the Greek burger, which was tasty, but nothing to knock your socks off. The atmosphere is nice and the staff seem competent and generally attentive - but we found our dishes lacking in both quantity and panache. On the upside, it's one of the few places open on Sunday in Lexington. But my wife left hungry, which made me sad on the inside... so I doubt we'll be back. read more

Wow! An amazing dinner. I ordered the Mixed Grill and my wife ordered the Beef Kabob. Even the bed of rice has an amazing flavor. The mixed grill is served on Thursday comprising of beef tips, chicken, shrimp with delicious baked cherry tomatoes, grilled bell peppers and onions. Similar delicious beef kabob. I have eaten here a number of times and will be back. Another pleased VMI alumnus. read more
