This is a very unassuming place in a strip mall. I had the hardest time understanding the menu and what I ended up getting still wasn't what I thought I was ordering. I'm going to say that the problem was probably just me because the server tried to explain (twice) what the options were. I ended up with a lamb kebab with pita bread as my entree. I also got the falafels as an appetizer. The dining mate got the double portion of lamb kebabs on rice. We both thought the lamb was fabulous! The large chunks of meat was grilled perfectly and was so moist. I also liked the falafels. They were a little "soft" but everyone makes their balls differently. Taste is what matters and it was tasty! The place is not fancy. It is small. The furniture was sticky. But the food was good.

The food here is SO GOOD. Perfect for when you're craving really good Greek food. Their steak is tender and seasoned well. Their hummus with pita is fresh and delicious. Service is super quick. The restaurant itself doesn't have a lot of seating/isn't super big but we didn't have a problem finding a spot to eat. Will definitely be back

Xenia is a small but lovely restaurant located in Harrisonburg Crossing. I went here on a Saturday afternoon with my girlfriend and we were very impressed with the food! Do note the restaurant has maybe ten tables so seating is limited. We started with an appetizer of hummus and garlic pita. There was plenty of hummus to go around, but honestly I could have ate the pita by itself! The garlic flavor was prominent but not overpowering and the pita itself was very light and doughy: delicious! Some entrees appear on the menu twice: I was confused but it seems that they have a section for kebabs over rice and kebabs over pita. I ordered the chicken shish kabob platter while my girlfriend ordered the lamb shish kebab. The chicken was very flavorful and juicy! Did not need the tzatziki sauce whatsoever, so I saved that for my fries. The main aspect that made us so impressed was the portion size! There was so much food on each of our plates and we had to take leftovers even though we were SUPER hungry. Will definitely come back to Xenia!

The food at Xenia is amazing! If you're looking for authentic, delicious kabob (kebab) in Harrisonburg, this is the place to try. Whether you choose to take it to go or dine in, you won't be disappointed. The service is excellent, as it's a small, family-run business that makes you feel right at home. While the seating, tables, and lighting aren't what you'd expect from a high-end restaurant, that's part of its charm--it's a true hidden gem, a hole-in-the-wall spot. If you're after the best food, generous portions, and satisfying meals, Xenia is your go-to!

Stopped here for a quick and easy lunch while on a long road trip up the east coast. I loveee Mediterranean food, so I figured a gyro would be nice. I'm sure I have somewhat high standards as I've tried gyros in different states and countries, so I was not impressed with the Athenian gyro here. It was okay, but nothing special for me.

A cozy, family run place with incredible flavor in all of their dishes. The Dolma was so delicious, I didn't know dolma could taste that good. I had the Ultimate Veggie entree, which did not disappoint. This was a very satisfying meal and affordable. Can't wait to come back to try other entrees and appetizers

We used Yelp to find lunch during our drive to DC. I love that Yelp helps us locate locally owned gems off the freeway, so we aren't stuck using fast food or fast casual chains. Xenia hit the spot! I got the falafel appetizer and a basket of garlic pita and hummus for the table. The Colonel got the steak and lamb kebab platter, and der Sprosling got the chicken kebab platter (they were out of ground beef, so no koobideh for YOU). Every place/culture in the Levant does falafel (and other staples of the cuisine) a little differently. The falafel were small, firm, fried dark brown and crunchy on the outside and were more creamy and saffron colored on the inside, delicious! They came with a hummus that was mild and slightly which also went well with the garlic pita. The pita said two pieces but they mean two GIANT pieces ripped into about 16 smaller pieces. It's a lot of bread, don't be fooled! The kebabs were very good, I got full quickly so I only had chicken and lamb, but the steak LOOKED amazing. The Colonel made little happy noises to himself as he ate. The place is nicely decorated, the server was pleasant, and the bathroom was clean and pretty. The Colonel is already thinking about stopping on the next time we pass through Harrisburg.

As far as a Middle Eastern market it's pretty typical. They make the best of the shelf space by stocking them to the max. If you've never spent time in the Middle East then it may seem cluttered, but this is normal for this type of store. There were 4 of us and we ate inside. The absolute stars of Babylon are the food and the people. The gentlemen working were very helpful with the menu and super attentive to anything we might need. They're from Kurdistan and were all very very nice. The food was wonderful. We got 2 large sample platters, large hummus, and a small tabbouli salad. One of the gentlemen heard me telling my friends how they make the Saj bread, within minutes he brought out a large fresh Saj for them to try. It was hot and amazing. All the meat on the platter had great flavor. The rice was delicious, flavorful, and extremely plentiful. The hummus was good. The tabbouli was very fresh with a nice citrus flavor. The platter came with falafel, Saj, sauces, small cups of lentil soup, plates of pickled veggies (2 types of cabbage, jalapeños), along with olives, onion, cucumbers, and lettuce. The fresh baklava was absolutely amazing. To cut the sweetness they gave us some delicious black tea to finish the meal. We all loved Babylon and will be going back whenever we're in the area.

The restaurant is quiet with music playing in the background, but not so loud that you cannot talk. It was very clean with tables spaced well enough that you do not sit right next to someone else. The shawarma sandwich has a very nice complexity of flavors and textures. The smell and flavor of the spices are warming. We started with an order of grape leaves, which tasted good, but were really tiny. He ordered the chicken kebab platter for his meal which he says was great. I ordered the moujadarah, which was quite dried out and overcooked. I mentioned this to the manager/server when he came to check on us. He looked at my dish and replied that yes, it was overcooked. He did not offer to bring me anything different, he did not offer to bring me a fresh meal, and he did not take the cost of the meal off our bill. The two guys working in the restaurant were both nice, but I was disappointed that, although they knew we were there for a birthday (they overheard us and told my partner happy birthday), they did not attempt to make my meal right in any way.

My impression of the menu is that it's kind of a Middle Eastern, Mexican, American, everything place. I opted for the chips instead of the french fries to cut some calories Feels very much like an old school neighborhood pub. Looking around, and taking the fact that it's a very small town, I can see this being a social focal point for the area. A nice full bar. There wasn't anything to dislike about it, nice people, nice food, warm, and comfortable, easy five stars. BUT. The one thing that pushed it way over the top was that instead of standing there, awkwardly intimidating, with the card machine in their hand waiting for me to pay, THEY LEFT IT ON THE TABLE AND WALKED AWAY!
