My first and only time at Niles Nails, I got a mani-pedi before leaving on a trip to Miami. From the moment I walked into salon, the woman who greeted me seemed annoyed that I was there, although I was the only customer in the place. She scolded me for not getting my nails done on a regular basis, and said that at the very least I should get them done once a month. It wasn't advice about caring for my nails and cuticles - it was said with a sneer of disdain. She also tried to upsell me an eyebrow wax, which I do not need (perfect brows- thanks mom!) I never went back to Niles Nails after that first experience. The 2 women working at that time jabbered to each other in their native tongue the entire time I was there, which is just plain rude. Mani-pedi was average. A little too rough on sloughing off the skin on my feet. My heels were sore for the whole next day. Even though this salon is closer to my home, I drive to South Bend to Magic Nails to get my nails done on a regular basis now. Their customer service is far superior, and the care April showed me about the health of my nails, and advice on how to get them to grow stronger, really impressed me, as have the results. Run away from this salon!!! The worst place ever. The lady tried to upsell me on everything. I wanted a regular manicure and pedicure, she kept offering me gel mani-pedi saying it dries faster, looks nicer. I refused, didn't want anymore micro plastics or uv rays. Then she tried to sell me a massage pedi, a blue pedi, etc. I stuck to my guns and refused them all, saying I just wanted a regular manicure/pedi. She didn't like that she couldn't up sell me. She began my pedicure at about 1:00pm and finished with my feet at about 1:12pm and started applying nail polish. My nails still had dead cuticles that weren't cut off properly and my heels were still rough from her just passing the brush over them just two times. It was a sloppy job. I have been doing my nails professionally since I was 16 years old and this was the worse manicure I ever had. Awful, poorly done. I paid her and I went further up the street over the border into SouthBend and got them redone at the salon next to the tattoo place. Went in with a friend for $65 pedicures. My friend's pedicurist started in and about ten minutes later, an older man started my pedicure. He rushed through several different colored scrubs and lotions, wiping them on and then immediately wiping them off. No massage at all. He wrapped my calves--not my feet which would seem should be part of a pedi-cure--in warm towels and then painted my toes while the once warm towels turned cold and clammy. In less than thirty minutes, he was shoving me off to dry. My friend got another ten minutes and didn't get his toenails painted! This was on a Friday. Sunday I wore closed toe pumps and the nail polish on my big toe still wasn't dry enough to not get messed up! I have had better pedicures for half the price. read more

Wow!! Where to start.... The absolute worse manicure I've ever had. Not even 24 hours after, polish is off 2 nails. This was my second trip there. First time, same thing! Ripped off! I love supporting small businesses and normally don't complain but this place is a real joke. Burnt me while filing on my nails and knicked my finger to where the morning after, I now have a blood spot on my finger. This all after first being told they couldn't do an American manicure by one of the guys there. The lady stood up and stopped me from walking out and told me they could do it and we're going to make my nails "beautiful"..... Well fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! I got a gel fill which says $25 and they charged me $35 cause they said it was shellac .... which I thought was gel anyways that wasn't mentioned prior.. then, get this, I took my cousins who are 6 and 8... without permission they up sold them and did a design that they charged for... what BS. Niles Nails has great customer service and is a very nice salon. I discovered Niles Nails because I was looking for a nail salon that does pink and whites. I generally make appointments, but walk-ins are welcome. I also recently had my bridal party in for manis/pedis and I was very pleased with the pedicure I received for the wedding. I think they have six pedicure stations with massage chairs, so they can accommodate a larger party. read more

This was the most horrible mani and pedi experience I have ever experienced. My manicurist was extremely rude. During my pedicure he was very rough and would get extremely frustrated if my foot was not in the right position. He used too much polish on my toes and they do not look good at all. My manicure was even more disappointing. The same manicurist did a horrible job filing and shaping my natural nails. He was in a rush to finish, and you could tell from my results after his polish. He totally forgot about my massage during my manicure. He sat me at the dryer and went outside. Before he left, I said to him, "no massage?" He just rushed out of the door. Idk if he smoked a cigarette or just wanted to make a phone call, but when he returned he sat infront of me at the drying station. I looked at him dig in his nose for 3 minutes, while watching something on his phone. When he finally looked up, I was looking at him. He then got up checked my nails, and had the audacity to begin to put lotion on his hands to do the massage. No gloves used, no washing of hands. I was completely upset at this point. I instructed him to wash his hands. He went to the sink, washed his hands, and returned to do the hand massage. All he did was crack my knuckles and put lotion on my hands. Then he walked off leaving me sitting there. The manager met me at the door and asked if she could finish the massage but I felt so disrespected I just wanted to leave. My services came up to $50, I paid $60, requesting only $5 back as my change. Yes, I tipped him $5! I've just never been treated so poorly from a manicurist. I've visited this salon in the past with my mother, who frequented there often in the past. I advised her to never go back to o that place. I thought of requesting a refund, but instead I will just encourage the entire SB/Niles area to try a different salon if they want a pleasant experience. My nails look horrible and I was treated even worse. Although I'm only visiting from Texas, when I am in town again, I will never return there!! I had my 3rd and final visit yesterday. ( first two visits were mediocre )I went in for pedi and a fill. My pedicure started out ok but a few minutes later another employee came over and started to work on my nails. It was very awkward and uncomfortable to try and bend to accommodate the angle she was at. This took the pleasure away from my pedi as she was tough on my fingernails. She cut them way too short, they are so thick, lumpy and the polish doesn't cover the sides and my cuticles are still sore today. it cost $105 for and hour of misery. read more

THE ONLY REASON THIS PLACE IS GETTING 1 STAR FROM ME IS BECAUSE IT WONT LET ME LEAVE NEGATIVE STARS! I am up here visiting family for the 4th and had one of my nails get caught and it bent backwards. I asked for a small white flower on my ring fingers and Idk what I even got but it is super smeared!! She didnt have me wash my hands, I have been picking clear coat off my fingers since I left. I don't even know how that happens. And 1 of my nails arnt even connected to the dip powder... I never write reviews but had to for this. Second time to this place, gave them a second chance after the first one. Always trying to up charge and charge you different prices than the sign and always come up with an excuse why. Got a fill and a pedicure last time. Lost nail polish on my toes two days later. Came back and they fixed it. Two days later lost polish on two other toes. Told me it was because I wore shoes without socks. I explained I thought it was maybe the polish. I get pedicures all the time and never have this issue. Then fixed it did not give me sandals or toe separators, therefor polish got on my other toes. Did a crappy fast job. I went in for a simple shellac manicure. The guy took 2 of my nails and put acrylic tips on. I'm not sure why for shellac. Anyway he was using the grinder and I felt the heat in the nail bed. I want to start by stating that the owners were extremely friendly and kind, this review is not a reflection on them as people but rather the quality of the manicure and shellac by an older gentleman that did my nails and the young lady who attempted to do nail art. I went in super excited to get a mani for Valentine's Day. I called ahead and made an appointment, the owner greeted me and made me feel very welcomed. He instructed me to have a seat and another older gentleman began working on my nails, before he started I showed him what I wanted and he said ok. (I'll upload a picture) basically I wanted a light pink nails with a glittered heart on the ring finger, a simple glittered heart nothing fancy. He soaked my nails, trimmed the cuticle and filed and shaped my nails. He then began painting my nails and I knew it was all down hill from there. He used too much nail polish and it pooled on the base of my cuticle, the sides where not properly covered and it began to look puffy on the sides. A very messy look. I kept thinking he was going to fix it but then he called the "nail artist" and I showed her the picture of the heart in the center of the nail made from glitter polish, she began to work on it and it looked like a slanted rock NOTHING like a heart. When she asked me to stick my hand in the UV light to set it, I told the both of them that what she had painted on my nail looked NOTHING like a heart. The owner came and she clearly saw the mess they had made of my nails. She sat down at the station and began pointing out to her employees the obvious mistakes, she proceeded to remove the design and refinish my nails, she filed the sides and removed more cuticle and applied another coat of polish and the attempted to draw a heart. She did her best and I appreciated her efforts to make my nails look good, but honestly now that I see them she should have started from scratch. I wish i could give them no stars. This was the worse nail experience I have ever had. They were overly aggressive with your hands and feet. My polish on my toes was so thick that after 2 hours it still wasn't dry. He cut too much off of on my cuticles causing my hands to be sore. My daughter's nails looks so horrible and she was telling them the whole time that the nail is bigger than her fingers but they act like the don't understand you. My daughter is getting married on Saturday so we thought we would treat ourselves to Mani-Pedi's. My daughter and I both got full sets of nails. I mentioned that I was not happy with mine while they were putting them on. The lady immediately got defensive and said...you got what you asked for. I responded that while I did ask for square I was not happy with the length of the nails. I was told that the length was correct. I let them proceed. There was very little shaping of the nails and they seemed entirely to big for my hands. Needless to say, I am not happy with how they turned out and will be searching for someone to fix them today. My daughter was also unhappy with the poor quality of her nails. She is considering having them taken off today and having someone redo them...correctly. Because I needed it done, I proceeded with the pedicure. The man doing my pedicure made the water entirely to hot. He rushed through the pedicure and did a poor job because at this point there were 3 other people waiting (and one person who said they would come back if they were going to be open). He said he would not turn away business because his daughter was starting college in the fall and he needed the money. I will not return to this nail salon. I would suggest that rather than trying to do as many Mani's / Pedi's as they can, they should slow down and do better work so they can generate returning business. I can say I have never had a problem with this place or their work. The same 2 gentlemen always do my nails, shellac with black tip. They always remember me and have even asked me about my sister (she used to come in a lot with me). I don't mind that they don't try to strike up a conversation with me, I deal with people and phone calls all day, so it's nice to just sit and relax. However, they always ask me how I'm doing and the owners check on me and the work on my nails several times. I'm going tonight, so hopefully this will stay true. read more

I had a mixed experience here. My daughter and I went in for deluxe pedicures and shellac manicures. The pedicures were great but after we left we realized that they didn't do anything to either of our heels. Our heels were just as rough as when we went in. I've never had a pedicure anywhere else where they didn't address the heels. That was a big let down as we got the pedi for sandals on vacation. My manicure was fine. Hers was not. The polish was not covering her full nail on some and was well onto her skin on others. It also was nearly transparent. She did pick a light color, but the sample was full coverage. She said that they only did one coat. She was definitely disappointed. So...we will probably not return for the reasons above. Not a terrible experience but not nearly as good as some other nail salons locally. read more

I went to get my eye brows,lip and chin waxed. When I got there no one greeted me just asked what I was there for so I sat and wait 15 minutes. No rush, I was just enjoying my cell phone. Then the main lady who I think was the owner told me to go to the wax room. This was my first time and she seemed annoyed that I asked where it was located. When she arrived she began to wax me in a very aggressive manner. It felt like she was waxing my face off, no joke. Then when I tried to tell her what shape I wanted my eye brows she said that she couldn't do much because they were to thin. That's bs because they were the thickest they get. She didn't try to shape just clean the top and bottom., whatever! I was getting upset. As I was leaving she got nice and asked if I wanted to get my nails done and I though ok lets do it...BIG mistake!!! To make a long story short. The old man was rude, disrespectful and did a crapy job. He didn't clean under my nails. I had to ask. Then he filed my nails and when done he added lotion to my hands grinding all my nail debris into my hand. As he rubbed he was about to apply it on my wedding ring. Don't go there. You don't know who will do your nails. The one that done mine was not good. She did the pedicure very fast and skipped steps just to get done very quick. Noticed before she started me she rushed with another one to get to me. It was a 20 min. pedicure which I've had before at other places and a good one takes at least 35 - 45 mins. (not including drying time). Seems as thought they want to get you in and out so they can make their fast buck. Their foot sink was leaking and it runed my purse that was stitting on the floor!! It was an expense Coach purse. She didn't even seems to care that it got all wet just that there was water everywhere. Bumped my polish and put about 2 or 3 more coats on what she already had on. Didn't want to take the time to do the one or two nails over. It was my fristy time and it will be my last. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! EVER!!!! I was there to get a pedi. While getting it I asked how much it was going to be to add in a mani. The lady working on me said $42. Then this girl working there, turned around and told me $47. Whatever, I didn't care, I just wanted the service to be done, it was mothers day weekend and I wanted to be pampered a little. When I was finished, the other girl (not the one working on me, the one who told me the price was $47 not $42) turns around and charges me $407, then charges me again $47 which totals $517. She comes over with the two receipts and tells me I have to sign them. I told her no, I wasn't signing for a $517 mani-pedi. She became belligerent, combative, yelling at me, ranting and raving to the packed full salon of other customers. She refused to listen to me, the bank (that I had on the phone) and other customers who were trying to speak up, including customers that got up and walked out. After arguing with her for approximately an hour to hour 1/2 as she made threats of having me arrested, to which I told her to call them (I didn't have my phone or I would have already done so) While waiting for the police she tried to only give half the money back, when I said no, she went back to being belligerent and combative, just to turn around and finally void off both charges, telling me the money would be back into the acct the next day (LIE), and kicks me out. Of course I had to correct things with the police after I left....3 days later, STILL NO MONEY. 4th day, STILL NO MONEY. I call the bank to be told that all that needed to be done was to have the salon call them back and "remove the authorizations" from my acct which would give me back my money. Knowing there were 2 bills that were still out there that hadn't came through yet (which would overdraw my acct due to the issue with Niles Nails) I called the salon. The man refused to listen to me, cutting me off continuously stating he already knew about everything, including him being told that I was just trying to get a free service, and told me there was nothing he could do. Finally I get it out to him about calling the bank. He still refuses, even when I tell him that they were waiting for his call. He just kept coming up with excuses of why he couldn't do that. Then he asks about my number coming up on his caller ID, says I will call you tomorrow, then hangs up. Well, day 5 and guess what...STILL NO MONEY RETURNED TO MY ACCT!!! And yes, as stated prior, one of the bills I was talking about came through overdrawing my acct. I had to call family members to borrow money so that I didn't end up having to pay around $650 worth of overdraft and bank fees. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN!!!! I SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN TREATED THIS WAY OR CHARGED REDICIULOUS AMOUNTS WITH THEM DOING NOTHING TO FIX IT!!! In fact, I should have never been told, " I DO THIS ALL THE TIME....and they always get the money back the next day!!!! " SERIOUSLY...DONT GO THERE!!!! read more
