The owners of this shop does real great work and I'm sad to see they are no longer at Golf Mill Mall. I hope they open up another shop nearby soon. I always pass this place, and I had never though about getting shoes repaired. So of course...stitching came undone in my left shoe...I really liked the shoes so I went in to see how much I would have to pay (thus validating me throwing them away.) He looked and said ten bucks. A week later I picked up my shoes. Now I dunno what the last poster went thru...I like to think everone or any place can have a bad day... but when I saw the owner (short Italian guy that reminded you of the typical Italian cobblers in movies, accent and all) I felt oddly comfortable (probably since my dad was from old school Greece) He looked at my shoe and assessed the labor. Looking around at the store he had other shoes (I bought a pair as I tend to bend down and do alot of stuff with computers so I put my shoes thru alot) Picked up a pair that IO am going to start using and see if I like them. I went in there thinking i was going to spend 20 on shoes and left spending 60 on shoes and some cleaning supplies for leather shoes. And as I left there was a lady customer coming in asking about her boots and he had promptly brought them up as if he knew she was coming. The one pic I took cause I didnt want to spook the guy. Sad that I have to leave a bad review. Went there out of convenience. I typically go to this great place in downtown Glen Ellyn. Nevertheless paid 120 for men's soles and combo heels. Very very high to begin with. Again, it was convenience. Two weeks the stitching was separating and the glue was coming apart. Went back. Said he could fix it. He used glue; no restitching. One week the glue was separating and now it looked terrible. Furthermore another area was separating due to failed glue. I gave up and went to the place in Glen Ellyn and paid for a complete rework. Also during the repair, the leather was gouged by a repair machine and looks terrible. Save your money. Don't go to Niles repair. Trust me. Have been going to shoe repairs for 30 years and this was the worst. I would give this a 0 star but I can't. read more

I'm sorry to say NOto this place. Took my wallet there. It took 2 weeks to fix and for a zipper $40! And he didn't fix it. He replaced a zipper with very cheap quality and stitched wrong and it's awkward. I don't go there anymore and DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. read more

I would strongly discourage anyone from ever patronizing the Niles Shoe Repair. I brought in two pairs of leather shoes. For repair, I was charged $20 for one pair and $30 for the other pair. Between a few hours and a few days after each repair, the shoes proceeded to tear and the repair came undone. I brought one pair back twice and the other pair back three times for the same repair. Not to mention the repairs looked absolutely terrible. Upon bringing the shoes back a third time, the owner told me that he would not attempt to repair the shoes again and claimed the rip, in the same spot as before, was unrelated to the original tear. He refused to refund any money I paid for the repairs. Take my advice and choose another shoe repair establishment that has some integrity. read more

I've gone here for years with no problem. I took a purse to be repaired. I could not believe the poor quality of work on it. There is usually an older gentleman there, now it's a woman. Brown stitches on black material and not even machine sewn. I'll never go back. 15.00 for poor repair. read more

Horrible. Brought in my sons jacket to repair the zipper. He said he fixed it but the same issue reoccurred in one week. We brought it back and he said it was the result of my son wearing it roughly. Originally charged me 15 bucks and never really fixed it. He was rude with extremely poor quality. In addition the place does not follow the open hours posted. Seems like it always closed. read more

It pains me to write this review as the owner of the store was so nice on our first meeting. I took a pair of deck shoes in that needed new laces,a very small rip on the tongue of about an inch and a half repaired, cleaned up and polished. The results were dismal. The new laces are too short to tie a decent loop The repair came apart after 5 wearings There's no evidence that any polishing was done. It was a complete 100% bust. read more

i always use NSS specifically for zipper repairs, because they've been 100% successful in that regard and on different types of items i don't know if you've had the same bad luck as i used to, taking things to other places around town that advertise 'zippers repaired' in their window, and then getting it back in worse condition than what you brought in making you wish you hadn't even considered repairing a malfunctioning zipper in the first place. so a lot of places say 'zippers repaired' but unlike them Niles Shoe Service actually knows and repairs zippers correctly, having given him both plastic & metal types, and repair price was OK with me read more
